This is your twenty four to seven use update. The
latest use this hour at just four minutes.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
President Trump appears to be supporting the idea of a
possible regime change in Iran. Mark Mayfield reports.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
In a post on truth Social Trump said, if the
current Iranian regime is unable to make Iran great again,
why wouldn't there be a regime change? Earlier, Defense Secretary
Pete Hegseth said this mission was not and has not been,
about regime change. In a separate earlier post, Trump said
the damage to the three Iranian nuclear sites from the
US air strikes is said to be monumental. He went
on to say the hits were hard and accurate. I'm
(00:37):
Mark Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Oil prices are jumping following those air strikes on Iran.
US crude oil went up more than two percent Sunday,
evening to seventy five dollars and sixty cents a barrel.
This comes as there is uncertainty regarding the oil supply
outlook in the Middle East. Iranian state media reported earlier
Sunday that the country's parliament supported closing the Strait of
her Moves. According to the Energy Information Administration, twenty percent
(01:01):
of the crude oil consumed by the world passed through
that straight last year. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones industrial average,
the S and P five hundred, and the Nasdaq futures
have all been down. FedEx founder Fred Smith has died
at the age of eighty. Smith helped create the overnight
delivery industry, which revolutionized the way business and consumers received
goods and packages. He founded the company as Federal Express
(01:22):
in nineteen seventy one and began operations in Memphis two
years later. The Mississippi native served four years in the
US Marines and returned from Vietnam to start his company,
which grew into a ninety billion dollar global shipping giant.
The Oklahoma City Thunder or NBA Champs. They beat the
Indiana Pacers one O three ninety one in Game seven
of the NBA Finals in front of their home crowd.
(01:43):
It's a franchise's first NBA title since it moved from
Seattle in two thousand and eight. Shay Gilgess Alexander was
named the NBA Finals MVP to go along with his
regular season MVP award. The Pacers star point guard Tyrese
Halliburton went down with an injury in the first quarter
and didn't return to the game. ESPN reported Haliburn suffered
an achilles injury. I'm Tammy Triheo. Health experts are urging
(02:07):
a wider use of weight loss drugs. Sarah Lee Kessler reports.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
The American College of Cardiology says doctors should prescribe golp
one drugs earlier and not require patients to first try
healthier lifestyle changes. In major trials, these drugs have been
shown to reduce cardiovascular events, improve heart failure symptoms, and
help manage fatty liver disease. But it's not as easy
(02:31):
as it sounds. There are barriers, including limited insurance coverage
and supply shortages. I'm Sarah le Kessler.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Millions of Americans spent Sunday under heat alerts the National
Weather Service as major to extreme heat risks are spreading
through the Midwest and East, where anyone without effective cooling
or adequate hydration could be affected. They also warn they'll
be little to no overnight relief. The Weather Service is
calling it the first significant heat wave of the season,
with high temperatures in the mid to upper nineties and
(03:00):
possibly hitting triple digits as the week begins throughout the
Central US. The University of Wisconsin is suing the University
of Miami for allegedly breaking rules that restrict tampering with
college athletes. That story from Rob Martyr.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
The lawsuit marks a groundbreaking legal attempt to enforce a
financial contract between an athlete and their school. According to
the complaint, Miami officials approached student athlete A and his
family last December with a monetary offer to leave Wisconsin.
The player had reportedly signed a two year deal with
the University. Wisconsin says the lawsuit aims to promote the
integrity of college athletics through legal accountability. I'm Rob Bartier.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
How to Drain Your Dragon is once again soaring to
the top of the box office. The live action remake
of the twenty ten animated film brought in thirty seven
million dollars in its second weekend. Meanwhile, the horror film
twenty eight years later scared up thirty million dollars in
its debut to take second place. I was in great
news for Pixar, as the animation studio suffered its worst
opening weekend ever with l eoh the film twenty one

million dollars in its first weekend to finish third. I'm
