Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is your twenty four to seven use update the
latest use this hour in just four minutes.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's a horrible situation. That's Jeff's getting worse by the day.
The death toll is rising after last week's devastating floods
in central Texas. So far, more than one hundred and
twenty people have died, with most of the fatalities happening
in Kerr County. Officials there say at least one hundred
and three have died, including thirty six children. At least

(00:29):
one hundred and sixty people are still missing. President Trump
visited the area of Friday, saying he's never seen anything
like it. He also prays first responders and search crews
while dismissing concerns about flood alerts. President Trump is not
happy with questions about possible issues with warnings before the
floods hit Central Texas. While in Kerrville to survey the damage,

(00:52):
Trump was asked by a reporter about possible issues with
alerts getting out fast enough.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Only a bad person would have a question like that.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
To be honest with you, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Who you are, but only a very evil person would
ask a question like that.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I think this has been heroism.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
He added that it's easy to sit back and ask
about what could have been done differently. House Democrats are
expressing concerns about the government's preparedness for future flood disasters
and extreme weather events. Brian Shook has more.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Three House Democrats sent a letter to President Trump and
two officials involved in weather infrastructure, addressing their concerns and
seeking details on how officials plan to adapt federal weather
services going forward. The letter comes as President Trump visited
Texas Friday to assess damage from the flooding. I'm Brian Shook.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
And the deputy director of the FBI could decide to
step down. Multiple reports say Dan Bongino has told people
he's thinking about resigning after clashing with US Attorney General
Pam Bondi over the Jeffrey Epstein files earlier this week.
Most stated there is no evidence that Epstein kept a
so called client list. I'm Jim Forbes. A sunset spectacle

(02:08):
known as Mattinhinge returns to New York City Friday night.
It occurs when the setting sun is perfectly aligned between
Manhattan skyscrapers. That happens four times a year, twice in
May and twice in July. The American Museum of Natural
History is hosting a block party to celebrate the event.
You also have a chance to catch the half hinge
on Saturday. New York City Mayor Eric adams reelection campaign

(02:32):
got a big boost earlier this week from anti Zaran
Mandani crowd. Wednesday night, Adams raised one million dollars. Jonathan
O'Halloran has more.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
It's a major turnaround for the Adams campaign after they
reported fundraising just eighteen thousand dollars in a two month period.
Adams slammed former Governor Andrew Cuomo at the event for
staying in the race as an independent, potentially splitting the
vote among moderate Democrats. He says few voters participated in
the primary and he's never seen such energetic opposition to

(03:03):
a primary winner.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
A federal appeals panel was tossing out a plea agreement
that would have allowed the alleged mastermind behind the tragic
September eleventh attack to escape the death penalty. Khalid Sheikh
Muhammad is accused of spearheading the attacks, and under the
plea agreement, he would have been able to plead guilty
in exchange for escaping The federal death penalty. The deal
was negotiated over two years and would have given Mohammed

(03:28):
as well as two co defendants' life without parole. Former
Defense Secretary Lloyd Ausen overrode the agreement and reinstated the
death penalty charge, which the court agreed he had the
authority to do so. And Superman is off to a
terrific start at the box office. The first film in
James Gunn's DC universe made twenty two and a half

(03:49):
million dollars from Thursday previews. It's expected to make between
one hundred and twenty and one hundred and thirty million
dollars in its first weekend in theaters. The movie is
also expected to make around one hundred million dollars internationally.
I'm Jim Forbes.
