Severe storms of impounding the East Coast, flooding streets and subways,
and disrupting travel for millions. Flash flood warnings hit parts
of New York and New Jersey on Monday, prompting Governor
Phil Murphy to declare state of emergency. More from Andrew Whipman.

Berkeley Heights Township in Union County issued a shelter in
place order Monday because of the flooding, and both I
seventy eight and Route twenty two were closed there. The
mayor of Matuchein in Middlesex County said most of the
borough flooded. Monday. Reports a thirty home rescues were needed
in Somerset County's North Plainfield. Other flooding was reported in Hoboken, Summit, Rahways,

Scotch Planes, and lots of other places. Firefighters in Bergen
County's Dumont were called to a home fire Monday that
may have been sparked by a lightning strike.

Ongoing rain is hampering recovery efforts in the flood rapt
Texas Hill Country. More from Mark Mayfield.

Search and rescue efforts were put on hold Monday after
a weekend storm brought more dangerous floods to central Texas.
More than one hundred and sixty people are still missing
after the July fourth floods claimed some one hundred and
thirty lives. The Kurr County Joint Information Center set on
Monday that up to seven inches more rain had fallen
and another two inches were in the forecast. Heavy rain

resulted in rescues and evacuations in other Texas counties, but
no deaths or injuries were reported.

President Trump will be placing a one hundred percent terrif
on Russia if there's no peace deal soon. In Ukraine,
We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we
don't have a deal in fifty days. While meeting with
the NATO Secretary General Mark Rudda at the White House
on Monday, Trump also announced a new deal to sell

top of the line weaponry to NATO, including defensive Patriot
missiles meant for distribution in Ukraine. Trump had been blaming
both sides. It's for the continued war in Ukraine, but
lately has been putting most of it on Vladimir Putin.

and the District of Columbia are suing the Trump administration

to reclaim billions in frozen education funds. California Attorney General
Rob Bonta claims the freeze is unjustified and with no reason.
Programs have been forced to shut down.

dollars in vital support for California schools, including after school programs,

as President Trump seeks to dismantle the Federal Department of Education.
Federal judge in Massachusetts recently blocked and in exigs decative order
