President Trump is now claiming the Jeffrey Epstein files are
a new scam created by Democrats. Trump flashed out Wednesday
at Republicans clamoring for the release of the documents. Alice
Barr with more.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
President Trump posted a long and scathing message to his
social media platform addressing what he called his past supporters,
calling them weaklings who have bought into what he calls
a scam and a hoax.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Instead, they want to talk about the Epstein hoaks. And
the sad part is it's people that are really doing
the Democrats work. There's stupid people.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Trump supporters have been calling for the release of the
Epstein client lists for years. Senate Republicans are giving the
green light to cut funding for public broadcasting.

GOP lawmakers narrowly passed package early this morning that would
take back nine billion dollars in spending that had already
been approved. It's part of the efforts of President Trump's
Doge Committee that used to be run by billionaire Elon Musk.
First time requests for unemployment benefits are down. Most analysts
had been expecting the Labor Department to report a bit

of an increase in the number of Americans filing new
applications for unemployment assistance. Instead, today's number came in at
two hundred and twenty one thousand. That's down seven thousand
from the previous week's revised total. Former House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi is calling President Trump's push to reopen Alcatraz as
a federal prison his administration's stupidest initiative yet. San Francisco

Mayor Daniel Lurie says the idea doesn't make much sense.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
There's no realistic plan to make Alcatraz reopen as anything
other than a wonderful that's worst attraction that it currently is.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
It would likely cost billions of dollars to reopen it.
I'm Michael Kassner, the judge in the Brian Coburger case,
will hear arguments over the gag order today. Brad Ford reports.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
The non dissemination order keeps anyone directly involved in the
case from speaking about it. Coburger pleaded guilty to killing
four University of Idaho students. In twenty twenty two, the
prosecution has dropped its objection to the gag order being lifted.
Coburger is scheduled to be sentenced next week. I'm brad Ford.

The band Jane's Addiction is trapped in dueling lawsuits. More

The band's lead guitar player, Dave Navarro and his bandmates
launched a lawsuit this week saying singer Perry Farrell went
nuts on stage in September of twenty twenty four started
attacking them. Farrell's now suing the band, saying he's been
harassed and bullied by them for years. The on stage
bra broke out after Farrell reportedly he asked the band
to turn it down because he couldn't hear himself sing

An instructor at a New Jersey archery range is dead.
Eight children among the injured after the range was struck
by lightning Wednesday night. Andrew Whitman reports.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
White thing hit the Black Knight Bowbenders outdoor archery range
in Jackson Township just after seven pm Wednesday. A sixty
one year old man was killed. The township's mayor says
he was an instructor at the range. Thirteen others were hurt,
including eight children. The youngest victim is seven years old.
Reports a some suffered burns. A club members as a

local Boy Scout troupe was on the range at the time.
It's not clear if the young victims were Scouts.

Lady Gagaz kicked off for world tour in Las Vegas.
Tmobile Arena was packed Wednesday night for the opening show
of the Mayhem Ball. Thirty nine year old superstar put
on a theatrical performance feature ring hits from her latest album, Mayhem.
