Democratic state lawmakers who have fled the state. Some fifty
lawmakers have left Texas in an effort to stop the

would give Republicans an extra five seats in Congress. Cornan

as Canadian wildfire smoke moves through the region. More from

The air quality index across the region is considered unhealthy
for sensitive groups, including people with lung disease, older adults

the Hudson Valley, and Central New York. More than seven
hundred wildfires are burning in Canada, many of which are
located in the Canadian prairies. Health officials are urging at
