one hundred past Purple Heart recipients. Mark Mayfield has the details.

In a ceremony at the White House on National Purple
Heart Day, Trump said, the nation gives the recipients and
their families everlasting thanks.

And we're here to honor and celebrate the unyielding patriotism
and grit and devotion to America's Purple Heart veterans is
great emotion and great love.

Some recipients and attendants included three veterans who gave their
Purple Heart medals to the President following the assassination attempt
on his life last year. The Purple Heart is America's
oldest military decoration. It honors those killed or injured in combat.

The northern part of the country is set to deal
with severe thunderstorms over the next few days. Tornado's hurricane
force win, GUS, and Hale are all possible, with parts
of North Dakota expected to get the worst of it.
The severe weather threat shifts eastward on Friday. This weekend.
Cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, and Green Bay could see serious storms. Meanwhile,
in the eastern section of the country, two people were

killed by flooding in North Carolina as the southeast continues
to see heavy rainfall. President Trump is planning to announce
a peace pact between Azerbaijan and Armenia as according to
CBS News, Trump is set to speak at the White
House on Friday, with Azerbaijan's president and Armenia's Prime Minister
in attendance. US officials have been working for months to

help the two countries reach a deal. The two sides
have been in a number of conflicts over the past
thirty years. The US Air Force is denying early retirement
to some transgender service members, as according to a report
from Reuters, which says all transgender service members with between
fifteen and eighteen years of service will not be granted
early retirement. Instead, an August fourth memo says they'll have

to choose between quitting or being forced out with no
retirement benefits. Despite this, the Air Force has reportedly approved
early retirement for transgender soldiers with over eighteen years of service.
It comes as the Trump administration continues its efforts to
ban transgender people from serving in the military. I'm Tammy Triheo.
A Miami federal judges ordered a temporary pause on construction

at the immigration detention facility known as Alligator Alcatraz. Chris
Karaggio has details.

The ruling is a victory for the Mikasuki tribe and
the Friends of the Everglades environmental advocacy group, who are
calling for a shutdown of the facility until an environmental
study can be completed. District Judge Kathleen Williams issued a
temporary order blocking any construction at the site for two
weeks after hearing two days of testimony. The Trump administration
is still able to house the detainees at the facility

More Americans than expected found themselves filing first time claims
run employment benefits last week. The Labor Departments as it
received two hundred and twenty six thousand initial requests in
the weekend in August second, as an increase of seven
thousand from the previous week's revised total. It's also a
few thousand more than most analysts had been expecting. Uber
is talking with banks and private equity firms to get

cash it needs to expand its robotaxi service.

with automakers to build its footprint in the self driving
taxi industry. In the meantime, Uber says it will use
some of its annual seven billion dollars in cash flow
to deploy robotaxis. It currently offers rides in Austin and Atlanta.

American's diets are being taken over by ultra processed foods.
According to a first of its kind CDC report, about
sixty two percent of kids and teens daily calories come
from ultra processed foods, compared with fifty three percent for adults.
