Washington DC Police Department has been put under direct federal
control as part of President Trump's crackdown on crime. Speaking
at the White House this morning, he said he will
rescue Washington, DC, calling today Liberation Day. Trump is activating

the National Guard to help local law enforcement as part
of his plan, and he added he will send in
the military if needed. Three people are dead in a
shooting that happened at a target store in Austin. Police
Chief Lisa Davis said the suspect carjacked the car, but
then crashed as he tried to escape.

of immigration arrests in Southern California is declining. Daniel Martindale reports.

That is according to new data from the US Department
of Homeland Security, ICE, along with Customs and Border Protection agents,
have made four one hundred and sixty three arrests in
the region since June sixth. That is an average of
sixty eight arrests per day. Between June sixth and June
twenty sixth, and nearly nineteen hundred immigration related arrests were made,
that was an arrest rate of eighty eight per day.

Federal Aviation Administration released a workforce plan with details on
how it will address a shortage of air traffic controllers
in the US. The report adds, however, that it expects
to have only about one thousand additional certified controllers by

people died last January in a mid air collision in Washington,
