Reports have been rampant regarding Russia Ukraine land swaps and
the possibility of the US offering Russia a rare earth
mineral deal if it leads to peace. Tropical Storm Erin
is likely to become a hurricane by tomorrow. The storm
is located about eight hundred and ninety miles east of
the Northern Leeward Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It's expected

to generate life threatening surf and rip currents this weekend
in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. A federal judge
is blocking an effort by the White House to defund
schools with DEI programs. Day. The judge ruled the Trump
administration can't cut federal funding to colleges and other schools
that have diversity programs, as it threatened to do earlier

this year. A former GOP candidate in New Mexico has
been given an eighty year prison sentence for hiring gunmen
to attack Democrats. Michael Kassner reports.

Solomon Penyu was a Republican candidate for a state house
seat in twenty twenty two. Federal prosecutors say after his loss,
Peny claimed he was the victim of election fraud and
hired gunmen to carry out drive by shootings in Albuquerque
at the homes of four Democratic officials. No one was
heard in the shootings, and the two gunmen pleaded guilty
last year. Penya was convicted of thirteen felony charges earlier

this year and sentenced Wednesday. His lawyer says Penya will
appeal the conviction.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi says a man who threw
a sandwich at a federal law enforcement officer has been
fired from the Justice Department. Sean Dunn is seen in
a video of the incident from Sunday approaching the officer
while saying they are not wanted in DC. I'm Brian Schuck,
a Miami federal judge is delaying a decision on whether

operations and construction can resume at the immigration detention facility
known as Alligator Alcatraz. The judge previously ruled in favor
of an environmental advocacy group who called for a shutdown
of the facility until an environmental study can be completed.
A man who was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles

is instead under investigation in Colorado after police say he
caused a disturbance on a plane. Rob Dawson reports.

The Breeze Airways flight was en route from Norfolk, Virginia.
Police tell the Fox affiliate in Grand Junction, the man
was restrained twice, but broke free each time while officers
tried to take him into custody. He was reportedly intoxicated, agitated,
and yelled racial slurs at airline staff while waving a skateboard.
Passages were stuck for several hours in great junction, with

Former New York Governor David Patterson is endorsing Mayor Adams
in the crowded New York City mayoral race. Jonathan o'haleran reports.

The former governor says Mayor Adams is the person New
Yorker's need to protect them and a speech outside City
Hall Wednesday, Patterson was surrounded by Adams and his supporters
as he made his endorsement official. When asked why he
was endorsing Adams instead of Democratic nominee Zoran Memdani, Patterson
says doing so would be like comparing a lit match

to a forest fire. Patterson had previously backed former Governor
Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary.

This year's edition of the NBA Cup will tip off
on Halloween. The league released the group play schedule for
the in season tournament on Wednesday. Some of the highlights
of group play include the Los Angeles Clippers visiting the
LA Lakers on November twenty fifth, and the Golden State
Warrior Years hosting the Houston Rockets on November twenty sixth.
