The Texas Senate has approved a new congressional map that
gives the Republican Party five more seats in the US House.
The Texas Tribune reports the map was adopted on a
party line vote early this morning over fierce Democratic opposition
that accused state Republicans of gerrymandering. President Trump had called
for the new map to increase the House majority ahead

of the midterm elections next year. The map sponsor, Republican
Phil King, admits it was needed to allow his party
to maintain control of the federal government. The longtime associate
of convicted sex trafficker and sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein, Galine Maxwell,
who's serving a twenty year federal prison sentence herself for
sex trafficking, says she doesn't believe Epstein died by suicide

while in jail. The transcripts and audio from a meeting
hosted by the US Department of Justice with Maxwell have
been relined as the Trumpet administration faces pressure from both
sides of the aisle to make public the files connected
to Epstein. An Upstate New York hospital says they're treating
over twenty patients from that tour bus crash and the
western part of the state. Doctors from the Erie County

Medical Center say they've been treating everything from blunt trauma
to head injuries and more.

We have some folks that have some head injuries, we
have some folks that have some extremity fractures. Two patients
from the operating room right now, one with internal injuries
that are being managed, and one with a severe extremity injury.
And then we have several folks still getting evaluated.

The medical center says they had just practiced a mass
casualty drill last month. Some National Guard troops just recently
deployed in Washington, d C. Could soon be carrying weapons.
Multiple reports cited decision made by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth
that would allow the nearly two thousand troops in the
nation's capital to expand their operations and that could lead

to security patrols in some neighborhoods. Yesterday, President Trump suggested
the military personnel deployed would be given a larger role.
I'm Scott Carr. Convicted killer Lyle Menendez has been denied
parole A Parole Board made the decision in San Diego
last night, a day after his brother Eric was also
denied parole. Three months ago, Eric and Lyle were resentenced

to fifty years to life for the nineteen eighty nine
shotgun murders of their parents. The brothers have maintained the
killings were in self defense. They'll be able to seek
parole again in three years. The governor of California, Gavin Newsom,
is saying he's confident voters will approve his redistricting plan
in that state and a special election this November Bryan

He says that's despite the Trump administration's efforts to oppose it,
which Newsom claims will involve spending over one hundred million dollars.

Comments from the Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell sparked a
major rally on Wall Street Friday. Powell's signaled interest rate
cuts could begin soon in remarks at the Central Bank's
annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Stocks rallied, with the Dow Jones Industrial average hitting an
all time high. Big tech shares sword on Powell's comments,
with Meta, Alphabet and Amazon all advancing more than two percent.
At the closing bell, the Dow gained eight hundred and
forty six points, the SMP five hundred rows ninety six points,
the Nasdaq climbed three hundred and ninety six points. I'm

So far this year in the Seattle area, there's been
no more than four consecutive days with highs in the eighties.
That ends this weekend, as extreme heat warnings are in
effect for the next several days along the I five corridor.
There's also extreme heat warnings east of the Cascades, where
