National Guard troops in Washington, DC are now carrying firearms.

NBC News is reporting the Guard members will carry service
issue M seventeen pistols, with a small number armed with
M four rifles. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday authorized
two thousand troops in DC to begin carrying weapons, although
Guard members will continue to focus their work on protecting
federal assets and providing a safe environment. Meanwhile, President Trump

is threatening to send troops to Baltimore as part of

Russia's foreign minister says there is no meeting planned between
President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelenski. In an interview with
NBC's Meet the Press, Sergey Lavrov put a damper on
hopes the war could end anytime soon, saying while Russia
is prepared to meet, a major obstacle remains.

His comments come after President Trump said he had sort

officials say the first travel associated human case of New
World screwworm in America has been reported in Maryland. New
World screwworms are parasitic flies that attack and eat healthy
tissue from livestock and sometimes humans. Multiple reports indicate the
patient travel to the US Royl Salvador, where there's currently

an outbreak. The case has been verified by the CDC.
SpaceX once again scrubbing the launch of its giant Starship rocket.
The private space company stood down from the launch of
Flight ten Starship to allow time to troubleshoot a ground
systems issue on Sunday. The uncrewed prototype was set to
follow a similar flight plan to the last three Starship missions,
which all failed. The company has yet to successfully complete

a mission with the spacecraft, which is being engineered to
be fully reusable and would be able to carry up
to one hundred people two deep space destinations. I'm Tammy Trihiello,
a Democratic congresswoman, is criticizing the recent release of Jeffrey
Epstein related documents by the Justice Department. Jim Forbes has details.

In a statement Saturday, US Representative Summerlease said just three
percent of the more than thirty three thousand pages of
documents given to Congress contain new information. She says the
remaining ninety seven percent was previously released by the DOJ,

The Meninde's brothers, both Lyle and Eric, will remain behind
bars after being denied parole in California. San Diego Parole
Board turned down Lyle Menendez's request for parole on Friday night,
a day after his brother Eric was also denied. Three
months ago, Eric and Lyle were re sentenced to fifty
years to life for the nineteen eighty nine shotgun murders
of their parents. The brothers have maintained the killings were

in self defense, claiming they were sexually abused by their father.
Utility bills across the US are going up. More on

Federal data shows electricity costs are up by more than
five percent, and natural gas has risen by nearly fourteen percent.
An analysis from the Center for American Progress shows nearly
sixty utility companies will soon increase electricity rates this year
by more than thirty eight billion dollars, and that's affecting
over fifty seven million Americans. The US Energy Information Administration

expects residential electricity rates to increase by at whopping eighteen
