Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is your twenty four to seven US update. The
latest views this hour in just four minutes.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Authority say the now deceased gunman who carried out this
week's Catholic school shooting was a former student there. Minneapolis
Police Chief Brian O'Haras says the community is grieving after
two kids ages eight and ten, were killed and fifteen
kids and three adults were wounded.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
I want the community to know that even in the
face of evil, the Minneapolis Police Department and all of
our law enforcement partners collectively stand together with you.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
O'Hara says the shooter's mom worked at Annunciation Church. He
noted that it appears the suspect purchased the weapons used
legally and had no prior criminal charges. Acting US Attorney
from Minnesota, Joe Thompson said the shooter hated everyone, including
black people, Mexicans, Christians, Jews, and President Trump. That's based
on hundreds of pages of writings left behind by the shooter.

(00:58):
The Wendy City may be the next focus of an
immigration crackdown as teams prepare for increased operations in Chicago.
More from Rory O'Neil.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
A naval base near North Chicago could be activated for
a deportation campaign after Labor Day. White House borders are
Tom Holman telling reporters that a large contingent of ICE
agents could potentially be housed at Naval Station Great Lakes.
He said Chicago is specifically being targeted because it still
has a crime problem and because of its status as

(01:28):
a sanctuary city. I'm Rory O'Neil.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
The TSA says it will screen more than seventeen million
people during the Labor Day travel period. More from Temi Treheo.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
The travel period runs through September fourth, with the peak
travel day expected to be Saturday, August thirtieth. The TSA
expects us to be the busiest Labor Day travel period
on record, as the agency anticipates passenger volumes to be
eight point five percent higher than last year. Your travel
volumes this summer or the highest the agency is seen
in its history.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Album by Sabrina Carpenter is now streaming. Man's Best Friend
is Carpenter's seventh album. I'm Michael Kasner. Monday's dust storm
that traveled more than one hundred miles across Arizona had
quite an impact on the power grid. More from Brad Siegel.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Arizona's two largest utilities reported losing almost sixteen hundred megawatts
of solar energy generation as the skies blackened during the
height of the storm. They say that loss is enough
juice to power roughly three hundred and fifty thousand homes
during peak hours. Both utilities relied on natural gas resources,
which came online quickly to compensate for the loss of

(02:36):
the solar output. The utilities say this shows how the
state's diverse mix of energy resources allowed the grid to
remain reliable and keep the power flowing.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
A lawsuit against Sean Diddy Combs for a sex assault
is dismissed by a New York judge because it allegedly
happened too long ago. Sarah Lee Kessler reports.

extending the five year statute of limitations to twenty years,

to the nineteen nineties did He is currently jailed in
New York City awaiting sentencing on prostitution related charges after

known case, one of one hundred and forty four in Harlem.
So far, six people are still in hospitals because of it.
The death comes days after word of two unrelated cases,
