says he has a new proposal for peace in the
Middle East. In a White House press event with Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin at Yahoo, Trump said the plan will
also end the bloody war in Gaza. He said the
proposal was made with contributions from other Middle East and

European nations. The proposal includes the release of Israeli prisoners
held by HAMAS since October seventh, and for Israel to
withdraw from Gaza. Hamas has not yet agreed to any plan,
but Trump said he heard Hamas might be open to
the plan. Weekend shootings in North Carolina and Michigan have
left seven people dead and several others injured. In North Carolina,
three people were killed when a man randomly fired shots

from a boat at a restaurant along the Cape Fear
River in Southport. In Michigan, four people were killed after
a man opened fire at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc.
The shooter in Michigan was killed by police, while the
North Carolina suspect was taken into custody. President Trump is
set to meet with Republican and Democratic congressional leaders today,
with the deadline to avoid a government shut down rapidly approaching.

A stopgap funding bill, which House Speaker Mike Johnson says
he supports, would keep the government from shutting down this
week as funding is set to expire tomorrow. Team Europe
is said to be upset following its Ryder Cup win
yesterday because of abuse from American fans. Sarah Lee Kessler reports.
