Secretary of War Pete Hegsith is officially ordering National Guard
troops into Portland for the next sixty days. He made
the announcement on Sunday, saying in a statement that two
hundred members of the Oregon National Guard will be called
into service immediately. Political leaders and Oregon say President Trump
did not consult them before announcing that he was sending
troops to Portland. He said on Saturday he was sending
them to protect Portland ice facilities from domestic terrorists and

described the city as war ravaged. A shooting at an
LDS church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, has left at least
four people dead and eight others injured. The suspect has
been identified as Thomas Sandford, who drove his vehicle through
the front doors of the church and opened fire inside
the building. Sandford was fatally shot by officers in the
church parking lot. With about five weeks to go until
election day, the field of candidates for New York City

Mayor Adams announced his decision to quit the race in
a video released on social media. Despite all we've achieved,
I cannot continue my re election campaign. In his statement,
Adam said his campaign was undermined by constant media speculation

Tropical storm in Melda is expected to become a hurricane
by late today or tomorrow after moving across the Bahamas.
The National Hurricane Center says the system's expected to move
away from the southeastern US, but rainfall totals of up
to six inches are likely in parts of the coastal Carolinas.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for the east
coast of Florida. A pair of teams are still undefeated

Congress is running out of time to agree on a
stop gap bill to heep the government fully funded past Tuesday.
A new study says drinking coffee on a regular basis
can help protect and restore liver health. A new review
published in Biochemical Pharmacology says regular consumption of coffee is
believed to slow down liver diseases like fibrosis and cirrhosis
because of its mix of bioactive compounds. The study also

found that coffee can help balance the gut microbiome. The
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of
nearly two hundred thousand BMW's over potential fire risks. Rob

The federal agency said the vehicle's engine starter relay may corode,
causing the relay to overheat and short circuit, which may
cause a fire. The NHTSA is recommending owners park outside
and away from buildings and other vehicles until they confirm
their vehicle is not affected by the recall or have
