As many predicted and feared, the government is parsley shut
down after Congress failed to approve a new spending bill.
Both Democrats and Republicans had their own bills that failed
to get passed on the Senate floor on Tuesday. The
government's last shutdown was during the Trump administration's first term
in twenty eighteen. It lasted thirty five days. Government officials

new spending bill Tuesday night, leading to a government shutdown
just after midnight Eastern time. A White House has warned
that some temporary furloughs could turn into permanent firings.

The Federal Aviation Administration is set to furlough eleven thousand
employees as the government's shutdown begins. Airlines have warn the
shutdown could slow flights as air traffic controllers and security
officers will be forced to work without pay. More than
thirteen thousand current air traffic controllers will be required to
continue working and not be paid until the shutdown is ended.

President Trump isn't backing down on his threats to send
federal troops to Chicago. Speaking to the country's top military
officials yesterday, Trump said he's considering using democratic led cities
like Chicago as what he called training grounds for the military.

dangerous cities as training grounds for our military National Guard,
but military, because we're going into Chicago version, that's a
big city.
