The partial government shutdown has now entered its second day.
Lawmakers held procedural votes on two competing funding measures Wednesday,
which both failed. The shutdown is likely to last until
at least Friday, as senators have left town now and
observance of the Jewish holiday Yan Kapoor. Some congressional lawmakers
are asking for their pay to be withheld during the shutdown.
Among the lawmakers refusing pay are Republican Senator Ted Cruz,

right for lawmakers to be paid during a shutdown if

to Portland. According to the President, he had no choice
but to deploy troops over the protests of local officials
and refer to the city as a never ending disaster.
The War Department authorized two hundred members of Oregon's National
Guard after Trump said he would send troops to protect
the city in an ice facility. The state of Oregon,

administration in and effort to the deployment. Maxwell House is
