The late conservative activist Charlie Kirk is being honored today
at the White House on what would have been his
thirty second birthday. President Trump said he'll be posthumously awarding
him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Kirk's wife, Erica, is
in attendance. President Trump says he's in the process of
closing programs popular with Democrats as the government shut down continues.

So we're being able to do things that we were
unable to do before. So with closing up programs that
are Democrat programs.

Trump told reporters today he's going to release a list
of the programs on the chopping block on Friday. He
said the programs are socialist and semi communist, and they're
never coming back. The shutdown is now in day fourteen.
As Democrats and Republicans remain deadlocked on how to end
the stalemate. President Trump warns the US will get involved
if Hamas does not disarm. He told reporters that if

the militant group does not, in his words, we will
disarm them. He would not offer any other details when pressed.
Hamas laying down their weapons is the next phase of
Trump's Middle East peace plan. Reports say Hamas has not
yet agreed to those terms. How Speaker Mike Johnson could
face legal action from Arizona's attorney general if the state's
newest congresswoman isn't sworn in office. In a letter sent

to Johnson today, Arizona A G. Chris Mays called on
Democrat Alita Grihalva to be sworn in, with her special
election win now certified. Johnson has said Grihalva will be
sworn in once the government shutdown ends. Investors believe Jerome
Powell is suggesting another interest rate cut soon. Speaking at
a conference in Philadelphia today, the Fed chair warned key
economic reports are being delayed due to the ongoing shutdown,

but added US economic growth may exceed expectations.

Data available prior to the shutdown, however, show that growth
and economic activity may maybe on a somewhat firmer trajectory
than expected.

many investors to speculate there will be another interest rate

contract in place for actor and stage manager unions. A
mediator will be brought in Friday for their negotiations. No

in the US. Security research company safewise gives the distinction
to the city of Vernon. Safewise compile a list using
publicly available FBI crime data from twenty twenty three showing
burglaries per one hundred people. More than half of the
residents of Vernon were burglarized that year. The city has
a population of two hundred and eight but saw one

hundred and ten burglaries. That gives it the highest burglary
rates of all cities in the country. Amazon is hiring
two hundred and fifty thousand people in the US ahead
of the holidays. It's looking for full time, part time,
in seasonal workers for its fulfillment and transportation teams. Employees
