reopen the government have failed again, so the shutdown continues.
Among the controversies during this shutdown is the administration saying
some workers are going to get paid, while some claim
it's Congress with the power of the purse. NBC's Julie

Leeway, but the thing is, at the end of every budget,
there is a discretionary amount of money that the executive
branch always has, no matter who is in charge, to
essentially move around. Funds have a transfer authority where they
could take it from one pile and put it into another.
It's not clear exactly how much of the funds the
administration has left. They've already used it in other projects
in other ways. But the President's budget director this morning

saying they're going to keep doing that to try and
pay certain Americans and to try and extend certain programs
like food assistants if Democrats are not going to reopen
the government.

So far, this shutdown the nation's fifth longest. The White
House honoring Charlie Kirk's life and legacy on what would
have been the conservative activist's thirty second birthday. But Charles
James Kirk was a visionary and one of the greatest
figures of his generation. He was truly an amazing figure.
At a Rose Garden ceremony today, President Trump called Kirk

a fearless warrior. American Patrioty posthumously awarded Kirk the Presidential
Medal of Freedom. Arizona's attorney general is threatening to take
legal action against House Speaker Mike Johnson if the state's
newest congresswoman is not sworn into office, and a letter

Democrat at Alita Grihalva to be sworn in with her

in once the government reopens. The United States has begun
charging Chinese ships to dock at American ports. Meanwhile, Chinese

to a NASA center that does some of its most
cutting edge research.

Uri O'Neal reports roughly ten percent of the workforce at
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California is being laid off.
The cuts are described as a realignment of the workforce
and not related to the government shut down. JPL manages
Earth climate science and builds and operates robotic missions to
Mars and other planets.

they will not play a video from Homeland Security Secretary
Christy Nome on airport property. Jonathan o'hollerand reports.

The port authority says the video violates its policy on
politically partisan messages within their facilities. No and places the
blame for the government shutdown on Democrats in the video
and says because of them, TSA employees are working without pay.
The TSA falls under the Department of Homeland Security. New
York Governor Kathy Hokl called the video messaging obviously false

long list of other major airports, refusing to play the message.
