The federal government shutdown is now in its twenty ninth day.
The Senate tried again Thursday to end the stalemate, but
again failed. Democrats are holding firm on demands to extend
healthcare subsidies that are set to expire and that keep
insurance premiums down for millions. Food benefits are set to
expire for millions of Americans this weekend. Because the USTA

says the money isn't there, Republicans are refusing to budge
until the government reopens. South Korea and the US have
reached a trade deal. President Trump and the South Korean
president reportedly agreed on a deal today that involves a
two hundred billion dollar cash investment in the US, followed
by a one hundred and fifty billion dollars in cooperative

(00:49):
shipbuilding led by South Korean companies. Trump is expected to
meet with Chinese leader Jijienping on Thursday in the city
of Busan, South Korea in Seoul. Mackie Freyer says, don't
expect much out of that meeting.

It's highly unlikely that there's going to be a major
announcement that's going to come out of this meeting, though
a framework was revealed after talks last weekend, But what
we are likely to see is more of a formal
de escalation of trade tensions that have been ramping up
over the past few weeks, over the past several months,
and for the two sides to be able to telegraph

the message that they do indeed want to.

Flash flooding is being reported in eastern Cuba as Hurricane
Melissa creates heavy downpours across the region after slamming Jamaica

as many places have picked up several feet of rainfall
and we've seen significant flooding.

will start making secure connections one of its default settings

Google Chrome currently has the optional feature to always use
secure connections when browsing. On Tuesday, Google said the optional
feature will become part of the browser's default setting as
a part of Chrome one fifty four. It's due in
October of twenty twenty six. Google says Chrome one fifty
four will attempt to load every website over an encrypted
connection and will warn users of a site doesn't support it.

America is getting skinnier than weight loss drugs may be
the contributing factor. Jim Roop reports.

A self reported Gallop poll shows, for the first time
in more than fifteen years, obesity rates in the US
have fallen from almost forty percent in twenty twenty two
to thirty seven percent today. That's an estimated seven point
six million fewer obese adults. The same poll reports fifteen
percent of women and just under ten percent of men

are on GLP one drugs like ozempek, more than double
the number who said they used them last year.

Nvidia is now producing its fastest AI chips in Arizona.

The Tech Giants CEO Jensen Wong told a conference audience
Tuesday the production expansion began when President Trump asked them
to bring manufacturing back to the US nine months later.
We are now manufacturing in full production Blackwell in Arizona.
The Blackwell graphics processing units are being produced in a
facility in Phoenix. They were previously solely manufactured in Taiwan.
