Hosts Terrika Foster-Brasby, Chris Williamson, and Sharí Nycole are at it again with March Madness. Whose bracket is on point? Whose brackets have been busted, and why is it Kentucky's fault? Plus, Sharí blames everything (and we do mean everything) on James Harden, Iowa may or may not make it to the Final Four, and why John Calipari needs to sit all the way down on this week's episode of 3 on 3.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Fam, Welcome into a brand new episode of the three
on three podcast. I'm your girl, Tarika Foster Brass be
holding it down from.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
The d What up though?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Of course I got my guy Chris Williams sitting here
in the building.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
But what's going on?

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Chilling? Chilling?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
But I have a special guest who's no longer a
special guest because the special guest is now the third
co host of the show, Charena.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Hold me.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
I could say how exciting it is that what's going on?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
What happened when you tell somebody to make yourself at
home and they never.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
Go home and tell you out my welcome home, Matt,
And I said it right in front of my computer
here to stay good.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
To be here that.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
I know.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
That's right?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Well, man, we are so excited to really bring you
some some real interesting takes. And the reason why I
say interesting is because it's been an interesting time in
basketball right now. Besides NBA, we got the NCAA tournament
that is kicked off and I don't know about y'all,
but see, my bracket from the women's side is on point.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
My bracket for the.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Men's side took a little hit, but sweet sixteen were good?
Are y'all brackets still intact?

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Well, the men's side is almost to the point where
why do one just why okay, shout out to Kentucky
or maybe not why you ruined pretty much ninety nine
point nine percent of all brackets because you decided you
didn't want to win.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
So that's for them.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
The women's side, I would have to agree with you too, Rika,
I'm still on I'm still on part and on course
with them.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
First of all, the fact that Chris is praying right
seven time. Further lets me know that he was one
of the ones that put Kentucky in his final four.
It was you, It wasn't you.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Not only did I have Kentucky in my final four,
I also had because I did a few brackets, but
one of the main ones I had Auburn going to
the final four. Wow. Yeah, I believe the Bruce Burow
and that Auburn Tigers defense and the way they played
athletic as hell. And they lost to the Nerds, right,

(02:18):
they lost the Yeah got out to the IVY League,
not the Nerds.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Well, they just lost the good, fundamentally sound basketball team.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah. Yeah, And they locked in with those those angles
you know what I'm saying, The sets very crisp, and
clearly Auburn was not prepared for whatsoever. On the women's side,
my bracket is toast too, because I had Tennessee. Well,
I had Tennessee going to the sweet sixteen, and then
I also had Ohio State making a Final four run,

(02:49):
but they couldn't even get out of the second round.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Okay, yeah, okay, So to be fair, I also had
Ohio State making it to the sweet sixteen, but that
was that was as far.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
As I had them go over. So Louisville is, what
did it? Louisville, louis what's you doing? What did you do?

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Did Haley? Haley?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Clear I was waiting for the rematch. I was waiting
for LSU to pull up, and I was like, this
is where this is. This is showtime, box office, This
is box office, Chari, Who who did it for you?
Who ruined it for me?

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Who ruined it for you?

Speaker 4 (03:31):
You know what? It wasn't even a ruin.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
But I really would have liked to see I would
have liked to see Louisville.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
I have to echo that I would have.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
Liked to see them get further, just simply for just
just to see those two teams pair together. So just
disappointing because you know, obviously they they they had every
chance they in the world to be able to uh,
to make it to the next round.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
So I would have to say Louisville as well.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
Everybody else is kind of kind of predictable for the
most part. What I would say is, overall, I'm loving
the competitiveness. It's something I don't think we've seen in
some years where you have teams that play against each other.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
It's like anybody can win tonight.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
So I do like, even though the brackets are still
pretty much intact, there's still a level of unpredictability that's
happening right now on the women's side that I think,
you know, I'm enjoying and I'm sure fans are enjoying
as well.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Well.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I'm just gonna throw out here that for my women's bracket,
I am ranked nine thousand and I have a ninety
nine point seven percent.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Correction rate.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
So you're basically a genius, is what you're telling you.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I'm a joy out here. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And then and when I look at my men's bracket,
because I was worried about my men's bracket.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I was like, oh my god, my men's recket is
about to.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Be toe up.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
But actually I am on a ninety what does it say?
I'm like a ninety nine point six percent sweet sixteen.
So I'm killing it out here. Okay, I'm just I
just want you to know that I'm killing it out here.
So anybody want info on how to set your bracket up,
you need to hit up your girl.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Now.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
This is also two of my fifty nine brackets that
I submitted.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
So wait, excuse me, circle back, excuse me. What did
you just say?

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Okay, so it's not really fifty nine.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I'm being facetious, but I probably submitted three and three
so like I always have.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
So there's a strategy. Here's my strategy.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Strategy is one there's always your real one, like the
one where it's like, these are the ones that I
truly truly believe, right, So those are the ones that
I typically show and display. But then I also have
one that's all chalk like. It's just all on purpose,
it's just all chalk like, like not at least ninety
percent of that bracket is the top seeds are gonna win.

(05:37):
And then I have one that is random selection. It's
usually the one that's filled with a lot of upsets
because it's just like what happens if this four beats
this twelve, or what happens if this twelve, this you know,
eleven loses to this, like whatever.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
So that's so those are usually my three strategies.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Nine.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I have had some years where my upset bracket has
been like the main one. We're just been like, well, damn.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Did anybody come to pay a share?

Speaker 6 (06:04):
But like.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
We should have put my money on.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
So those are my three brackets that I usually roll with.
Three for women, three for men. Now it's difficult for
women because we don't tend to have a lot of
upsets in the women's game, but actually the way that
the parody in the women's game has, you know, really
taken shape and taken form over the last few years.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
You never know what you might see.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
So heading into this tournament, there were so many different
storylines from you know, whether or not Kaitlyn Clark was
going to be able to research her team back to
the national championship and put a cap on the sixth
story season. There's the storylines of whether or not LSU
is gonna be able to repeat as champion. We haven't

(06:52):
seen a repeat champion, repeat champion since the University of Connecticut.
There's the storylines of whether or not South Carolina will
continue to be completely dominant throughout the tournament, which that's
a storyline that's living well, it's living, it's living good and.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Will it is live and well.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
There's the Juju Watkins angle, there's Yukon Page Becker's like,
there are so many storylines. When I think about the
storylines that resonated most with me, it definitely was South Carolina.
But one thing that I don't think people have talked
about enough Chris is some of the other Power five
schools that have stars that really show up during the tournament.

(07:34):
And I think one of those stars is possibly Audi
Crooks from Iowa State.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Audie Crooks put herself on the map, like when Caitlyn leaves,
she will be the best player in Iowa. The woman
has incredible Why you look at me like that? SERI?

Speaker 5 (07:55):
I just want her to get some post moves. I
think she's a great player, but she's got to get
some post moves. We're not gonna sit here and act
like she doesn't like she's just out here like Kareem
Abdul Jabbar. I think she's a She has the propensity
in the potential to be a great player, but she
has no post moves. Everything is just bullyball down there.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
And I don't think she's got incredible touch.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
She's never sped up. Of course, she does need to
work on, like having some more moves outside of the
drop step and the fade away. But don't don't. Don't
play with her like that, do not. She put up
forty one shooting against Maryland. Okay, now, I know Maryland
did not have the bigs to handle her, right, but

(08:37):
that's still hell impressive at that size, ability to be
on the floor that long. And how again, she does
not get sped up. It doesn't matter who she's going
up against. So I'm gonna need you to lay off.
She's a freshman, of.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Course, I think I'm happy for her. I think that
she's doing an incredible job. I just think that sometimes
we're unbalancing the scales a bit and not realizing that
from a post player perspective, she needs an arsenal at
some point that's not going to work. Backing people down
like she does is not going to continue to work
it's just not if I'm a coach, I'm double teaming.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
I'm digging.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
If I've got my guards on the outside, we're digging
a bit on the wing, like that bully ball stuff.
Like it's been good. It's cool to see it. She's
doing great, but I just need her to get an arsenal.
I don't see an offensive arsenal for me. On the
block in particular, I could.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
See Shari's point, Chris only only why I majority agree
with you that I think she is so phenomenal as
a freshman and will only get better as she improves
and increases and gets the reps. Will she will be
one of the players that we will talk about. But
I do agree with her needing something additional in her
arsenal because we saw it when she was playing Stanford

(09:53):
and Cameron Brings. I think they canceled each other out
just because they were able to balance each other's attack.
But I also could see that if she had maybe
had just something additional that she can add to her bag.
Those are the things that will put you over the
top when you're playing a player that might have you
by height, player that will really get in front of
you and getting your face on the block like Cameron
Brink did in that matchup. So I do understand the sentiment.

(10:18):
But Shari, if not Artie crips, then like, what's or
who was the storyline for you in this first weekend?

Speaker 4 (10:25):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (10:27):
Well, she's she's one of them again everyone, I'm not hating. Okay,
she's The numbers don't lie. But I've been I've been
super impressed with from an individual perspective, Page Beckers is
doing some great things over Yukon and and Gino Arimma
said a mouthful saying that she's the best player in
the country.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
I don't necessarily agree with the sentiment, but I get it.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Call out to Katelin Clark, I guess, but she's she's
playing exceptional basketball, soft touch, you know, mid range and
in her outside shot looks really good.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I'm a huge fan of Juju.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
Not sure how far they're going to go, but I
just love her game. I love the package she presents,
and the way that she's leading that team as a
freshman is just outrageous. On the other side, I was
gonna lose very soon. Everybody, get ready, It's just gonna happen.
They're probably just don't lose this next game coming up in.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
The Sweet six.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
Team guys, let's let's be clear, okay, I will. First
of all, they're not gonna make it to the final four,
so so Tarica. I don't know, Chris, I don't know.
If you have them in your backet for the final four,
it's not going to happen. Okay, It's just not it's
just not. They look so beatable it's getting weird, mind you.
I don't I don't think they're the top four team
in the country.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
I just personally don't.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
I think Kitlin Clark is the best player in the country,
but top fourteen, No, I just I don't see it.
They just look too beatable to me right now. Sorry, sorry, guys,
come in on my first day.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
At work talking hot.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Hot.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
You can drink some water.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Calm down this way, sorry everybody.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
Okay, let's let's put a pin in that. And this
is what I mean.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Okay, before we get into this take, because I really
want to get into this take, I just want to
give a quick shout out to Kiki erie Fin when
we talk about storylines.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
To me, since held it.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Down for Stanford, they don't win that game against Iowa
State if not for Kiki. I've been waiting for Keky
to really show up and be that player this entire playoff.
And I know that we only too one weekend in,
but that was what I needed to see from Kiki.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Stanford has an issue, and I have them in my
final four.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
But Stanford's issue is they seem to get stagnant the
moment that Cameron gets in foul trouble and she stay
in foul trouble. So we needed to see who else
was going to step up for this team, and I'm
so happy that it was Kiki. So there you go,
says I want to make sure you get your love.
Now back to this, Sari, I cannot believe you came
on this show and straight up said that you think

(12:58):
that Iowa looks beatable and make it to the final.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Five, because I agree.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
They're not.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Because I agree I.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Think that Iowa is absolutely eighteen to be reckoned with.
But the problem for me is consistency. And I have
been saying all season long that as great as Caitlyn is,
when it comes to the tournament, she cannot do it
by herself. She can get you there, she can put
you in the right position, but she's going to need help.

(13:34):
Someone else has to step up, And it's just so
inconsistent with who that other person is. You look at
who they could possibly face up with going on down
the stretch. You could either get LSU. Could If you
get LSU, you gotta deal with Angel and Anissa in
the pain, who you got for that? If you got UCLA,
you gotta deal with Lauren Betts?

Speaker 5 (13:54):
Who you got for that? You already gotta see Colorado.
Colorado is already about the throat. Oh everybody, and nay
Mama at you. Charon is about to get at is
about to get at you.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Like you got a Bonnie a six three center, Like
what you're gonna do, Hannah, Like what you wanna do?
But and this is the other thing, Like it's not
on Caitlyn, it's really on her teammates. Kaitlyn gonna do
what she do. She gonna ball, she gonna put up
thirty points for you. She's gonna do her job. Who's
going to help her? And that is where I'm nervous.

(14:29):
That's why I agree with you, Shari, Chris.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Tell us why we're wrong.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
I can't. I can't tell y'all why you're wrong, Because
watching that West Virginia game, it was I got like,
if they don't have Caitlyn going off for thirty two
and I know it took twenty two shots, they're going
home because Gabby Marshall and we've talked about this so much,
Tarika and Shari over the season. If Gaby Marshall is

(14:58):
not hitting from deep, I know she has great defensive play.
If she's not hitting from deep, if Kate Martin is
not effective with their three point shot and getting into
the lane, then yeah, they're they're gonna be cooked and
they're gonna be packing their bags. I know Mark Kellogg
wanted them to pack their bags in the second round
game head coach West Virginia. But the competition is only

(15:21):
getting better. Absolutely, I have no issue with y'all saying
they're not gonna make it to the Final four because
Caitlyn cannot do it all by herself. And if they're
rattled by the defensive pressure, oh baby, that these teams
are gonna be getting up in their ass because West

(15:42):
Virginia gave a glimpse into what you need to do
to pressure the core pressure, the amazing on ball defense
help defense as well, getting them frustrated out of character. Yeah, Iowa.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I enjoyed seeing Iowa step up to the challenge. Though.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I enjoyed seeing Iowa show some defensive prowess, which is
something that I had not seen from Iowa. They understood
that part of the assignment. I did like that, but
they can't do it by themselves, all right. So I
don't know if you guys know this or not, but
there is a men's tournament that is happening.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
Really what.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I know.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
But yeah, you know, as much as I think people
came into this, you know, came into this thinking that
there were a B and C and this team's gonna
repeat or whatever. We've already seen major upsets. We've already
seen Kentucky on the way to the crib. We've already
seen you and C on the way.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
To the crib.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I think that it's been interesting the teams that have
seen that have shown themselves so far. Shari, What's what's
been standing out to you?

Speaker 5 (16:53):
University of Illinois, And no I'm not just saying it
from from because I'm from Chicago.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
They have been so impressive to me. And I didn't
think that.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
I will be talking about them right now, the way
that I am, but the way that they play in
the Big Ten Tourney, ultimately beating Wisconsin, and then you know,
Terrence Shannon Jr. Is completely playing out of his mind.
I love him his offensive arsenal, he steps up at
any point. He's consistent. One of the bigger criticisms of
this team is that they don't have a true point guard.
But they're finding their way regardless, and they have nice

(17:25):
big guards who actually compliment Shannon Junior pretty well, and
considering all he's been through this year too, I'm just
I want to see them win. I think that this
could be a bracket busting team. I can see them
in the final four. Again, I did not think I
would be saying this about four to five weeks ago, guys,
but I'm just super impressed with them. I love their energy,
and then they still have that they're very fundamentally sound

(17:47):
team as well. I don't see them take too many
irresponsible chances, outside of Shannon Junior, who sometimes when he's
feeling it, he's gonna just he's gonna take it all
the way, he's gonna shoot, he's gonna do his thing.
But I think that they're very disciplined as well, and
so I'm excited to see how far they go.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
And they've been the storyline for me so far for sure.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah, I like, I was just gonna say, yeah, I
like the way Illinois seems to have really peaked during
the Big Ten tournament and now in the NCAA tournament. Right,
you know Terrence Sharon Junior, as you mentioned, I mean
his explosiveness when he comes down the lane. He is
a freight train, very athletic, extremely smart. Right, Marcus Damask

(18:24):
as well, I love him. It's just really fun to
see what Brad Underwood has done with this team because
there are points in the season. Of course, Terrence Terrence
Shan Junior being out because he was Charles with Raven
you was suspended, right, and then a judge said the
university violated you know, his rights because of his impending
you know, draft stock. So he's able to come back

(18:45):
on the team. But they there are moments where you
didn't you weren't sure if they were going to be
in this position. But that's the beauty of March, where
teams find their footing, you know, also found their fort
the NC State, like NC State Tech coach Kevin Keith
was on the hot seat going into the NC the
ACC tournament, and then they pull off five wins in

(19:09):
five days, upsetting UNC, Duke Virginia the top three teams.
And you know who's leading them a pair of DJs,
DJ Horn and DJ Burns Junior. Back when you play
the AAU ball, they called him big Sexy, and I'll
tell you what, he reminds me a little bit of
Zebo Zach Randolph, you know what I'm saying. Lending Big

(19:31):
Baby Davis back at LSU, Like he is so fun
to watch because he's got great touch as well, a
similar to Ardie Crooks. He can shoot the short jumpers,
he can back you down using all his muscle and power.
But then I don't think people are giving enough credit
for when he gets triple team, he's able to dish
it out and show great vision. And did y'all know

(19:53):
that DJing he'd be selling He's got a vinting machine enterprise, Like, yeah,
he sells me.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
Where's where are the fending machines? Do they have any
on the campus? How does this work?

Speaker 3 (20:07):
I don't know where they are, but he got them
and Roland, so I'm down for that I'm down for
INNCI State what they've been able to do right through
the first two games of the tournament, back in the
sweet six team for the first time in nine years. Uh.
These are stories that you you love to see because

(20:27):
you're not expecting them. And it also helps when you
have lovable figures like Burns right, like Mohammad i Aara,
like Kevin keats black man getting more money triggering all
these bonuses as he keeps winning. I will never get
mad at seeing a black man earn his money and

(20:47):
keep rolling. So INC State for me, has been one
of the best storylines because honestly thought they were gonna
be gassed after that that tournament the ACC. But now
they've won seven games in twelve days. So you hatch
off to the pack putting on for the a CEC
and got due. Still there got unc these teams. The
ACC was supposed to have a down year or it

(21:08):
looked like a down year. Right now we see what's
going on is.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Definitely rolling.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Now.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
You know what I wanted to talk about that I
think that Houston has been an interesting storyline to.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Me just because they are a team that has a.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Number one seed, but they really have come into this
tournament beat up and battered. They've been dealing with injuries,
and they narrowly escaped Texas A and M. I mean,
that was a great overtime game, but they narrowly escaped
Texas A and M.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
And this is a team who they had already beat
in December.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
This is a team they had already seen, you know,
but they couldn't stay out of file trouble.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
They again having to deal with injuries. LJ.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Cryer and she.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Both to dynamic backcourt players who really have a defensive,
lockdown type mentality, but both of them.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Found out of the game.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
It was just like y'all have been playing so undisciplined
that it is a It is by the grace of
card that y'all were able the escape, but by the
by the by his the Lord's grace that you.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Were able to get out.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
But the thing that I think is interesting is that
you just said something, Chris that really sparked like changed
my whole, uh whole approach.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
To what my response is going to be.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Because you talked about people getting to know players and
resonating and watching them grow. And this brings me to
why I need John Cali Perry to sit down and
be quiet.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Because what you didn't do.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
I love you, I love you.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
I need to be quiet because I feel like and
a lot of people have compared, you know, the women's
conference to the men I'm sorry, the women's tournament to
the men's tournament. And typically I don't do that, right,
Typically I try not to do.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
To do that because they're different, right, and it just
is what it is. They're different.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
But I will tell you one of the things that
I love about the women's game.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Is that players have to stay. Yes, they have to,
because the rules.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Indicate that you can't enter the draft until you're either
twenty one or a four years I mean until you're
twenty one.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Years of age.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
So you've either got to be grown at the time
of the draft or you got to be most likely
a four year senior by the time you're eligible.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
And what that does is it.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Gives players, It gives fans, it gives the media, it
gives coaches, It gives teams an opportunity to get to
know players, to gail with players, to resonate for them,
for them to grow and develop. And even then we
already know that getting to the WNBA, it's still tough.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Right, you got somebody like John Caliperi, who pretty much
invented the one and done scenario.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
We don't get a chance to freaking get to know
players anymore. Half of people can't even name five top
players in the NCAA tournament the men's side at this point, Like,
if it ain't Zach Edie, don't nobody know who else
it is. If I wasn't somebody who covered have to
cover the men's tournament, I probably wouldn't know five names either,
not because they aren't good, but because we don't get

(24:13):
to have that getting to know you feeling with teams anymore.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Because John Kyler.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
Perry, it was you who thought it was great to
have six freshmen go ahead and try to win everything
for you every year, and yes that that worked at
some point.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
It worked.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
At some point other teams started to adopt it. But
with the transport portal the way that it is, with
teams really starting to understand that you aren't going to
be able to come in the NBA and immediately make
an impact anymore, the one and done scenario is tired.
And what we don't need is somebody like you in
your feelings and you salty because the shit don't work
no more to be upset because you got knocked.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Out, like sir, So let me tell you something.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
And I I personally think this is also why we're
seeing teams like Oakland me to Kentucky. I was watching
I was watching Sports Center, and I don't know if
it was Tim Legler, but they mentioned how just because
you have all these talented freshmen, these NBA prospects, doesn't
mean they're gonna fare well against a seasoned team like
Oakland who's been playing together. They're older men, they're more mature,

(25:20):
so at some point the mindset piece of this is
going to come into play.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
And that's an example of what we what we've seen.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
I do think the one and Done is soiling the
NCAA men's side a bit, but it's also being able.
It's also empowering and enhancing what we're seeing on the
mid major level in particular.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
So it's kind of this duality.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
But I totally agree with you, Tuarrika, like, dude, please
your an NBA scout.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
We get it, stop stop it.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Jack Gokie was born in the nineties. He was born
in the nineties, and he's looking a Kentucky team that
has bonafied NBA prospects to earn multi millions of dollars.
But you know what, he will always be able to say,
Remember when we walked Kentucky down and I went for

(26:06):
thirty two on them, thirty at thirty as like, come
on dog again. That is the the essence of this tournament.
Some people can have more talent and they project better
on the NBA level, but that does not mean you're
gonna beat them or you're gonna beat another team in

(26:27):
a one game scenario, right, Yeah, And I love Goki's response, like, yeah,
I'm not gonna be better than them, but I know
I can play with him. And here telling insurance down
the road.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Correct, I might be selling them home homeowners insurance.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Right, but hey, hey Rob Bingham, you want this home?
What can I do to you? You remember when I asked, Okay.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
It's so true, It is so true. But yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
So it's been an interesting tournament on both the men's
and the women's side. Sweet sixteen and LEEA, all of
which are coming up. So what hasn't been as exciting?
A few teams in the NBA have really really come
to coming to their disappointment era at the worst time
of the season, because the season is almost over.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
We're gonna get a little bit.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
More into that after this. Can you imagine that you
are after a.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Game, postgame, and you're listening to your coach or you
hear and you know, players will try to tell you, oh,
we didn't listen to the post game, we didn't.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Hear the dayline. They heard it, they know what they
see it.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
But can you imagine that you're listening to the postgame
conference and you hear your coach call Youseff.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Can you imagine that?

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Because that's what happened in LA Clippers once again took
an L. Once again Clippers don't clip and Taiwan Lou
made some comments where he basically described the identity of
the Clippers as soft, and I'm not sure that I
disagree with that. But this was a team that was

(28:10):
once sitting comfortably in first place just a month ago.
Now they're sitting fifth in the conference. Took an L
to the Indiana Pacers, just continuing to not have a
true identity. I know how I feel about James Harden,
I know how sharifeels hard, and I already I already
know where this is gonna go coming from her. So

(28:33):
I'm gonna go to Chris because I'm wait for her
to let the top of thing afterwards.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
But Chris, this Clippers team just does this.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Year in a year while where you feel really good
about them come December, and as we said back in
December on this show, just wait until April.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
And now it's almost April.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
It's crazy because when we said that, part of me felt, oh,
we're gonna be proved wrong because why Leonard playing in
so many game right his health is there? No load
management all that, Paul George is healthy, Russell Westbrook, James
Harden is playing in his role. He's not trying to
do too much. And then of course they hit a

(29:16):
wall and yeah for Tyron lu to call them out
and say, yeah, it's soft, like I love that because
he's been through the gutter. That man has been the
face of so many jokes even after winning a championship,
right and everything. And so for me, I think the

(29:40):
Clippers really have to do some soul searching because I'm
getting choked up about it as well, because you cannot
have this, you cannot have this recipe in the postseason.
And I know Russell Westbrook was out for a while
and that kind of coincided with this losing streak or
this struggle period. But still you have Paul George, James

(30:05):
harden Kawhi Leonard. I know he was out a little bit.
That should be enough to get it done. But if
you're playing soft and you're not responding to getting punched
in the mouth after everything was going well, to Tyler's point,
then what is your identity right? Because you're just you're

(30:26):
your front runner, because that's what it seems to me.
Everything's going great, we got everything rolling, things are moving well,
and then oh we get hit in the mouth by
teams that are inferior to you. By the way, how
you losing to the Sixers without Joel Onbid Do you
know the Sixers don't do that. Don't do that.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
No no no, no no no no no no no no.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
No no no no no no. When Joe Embiid went down,
the Sixers were top five, I think, top four team
in the East. They've dropped to number eight.

Speaker 5 (31:00):
They've Wait a minute, Chris, wait a minute. They are
no longer on the bubble. They are solid.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
I think they's seven. Now, come on, now get them
every respect.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
So so what. But no, my mind is you shouldn't
be losing to a team that is without their MVP
candidate like that. I know it's the NBA and anything
can happen, but to see it consistently where you're losing
and underperforming, you're blowing leads. I remember the loss to
the Lakers. The Lakers are one of the more exciting

(31:34):
teams to watch, but they're also incredibly frustrating. You got
dog walked by them. You were up twenty I think,
and then Lebron James goes off, Ruey Hotchi Murray hits
some three Danzel. That's coaching and also a lack of
assertiveness when when shit hits the fan. But I'm done,

(31:55):
I'm done. Sure you can go off because I know
you got that you. I know you got the clip waiting.
It's loaded before.

Speaker 5 (32:00):
I just, you know, unload on James Harden. I will
say to your point, Chris, we do have to acknowledge
coaching in this. I do think you know this may
have been a not a last ditch effort, but a
desperate effort to some degree for Tyrone lu Tyrone.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
Lud to say what he said. I get it.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
It's gotta be you gotta egos everywhere, you gotta check them.
You gotta hurt feelings sometimes to get guys to kind
of understand that they gotta they gotta buckle down and
get back to where they work. So I get that,
but I also look at Okay, where does where does
his part part play in this?

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Where does coaching really fall in what's going on?

Speaker 5 (32:32):
Because I do think that they bear some level of
responsibility when you see this level of a drop off,
regardless of folks being in and out, and again to
your point Chris earlier as well, they have enough talent.
Honest Honestly, this is inexcusable. And I like to just
blame James Harden for everything. I blame him for the Clippers.
I blame him for inflation, I blame him for a
lot of different things and everything. I blame him for

(32:54):
higher gas prices. I just think that he's to blame,
period for pretty much everything that's happening in the world
that isn't good.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Just I just don't care for him.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
I think he's one of the most talented players to
ever played the game, but I think he ruins.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Every place he goes.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Something about this, dude, that is cancerous, And to be
honest with you.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
It's like, what now, what's the excuse? Now? What is
the excuse? Specifically, James Harden, what is your reasoning? Now?

Speaker 5 (33:20):
You have been put in so many positions to succeed
with incredible players, with incredibly talented human beings, and here
we are again having a conversation about the inconsistencies of
the team that you are on, a team that has
no excuse not to be at the top of this
at the top of the Western Conference. It makes absolutely
no sense. Like, guys, you just Paul George, James Harden,

(33:43):
what are we Kawhi Leonard?

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (33:46):
And what's Russell Westbrook too? What else do you need?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
So there's this crazy is there's what's crazy is Scheri
He actually said in a quote, Yeah, we got to
find our identity. But teams are scoring easy on us,
and it makes it difficult to score offensively.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
No, how about try something you've never done?

Speaker 4 (34:06):
That's dumb?

Speaker 5 (34:07):
No, right, exactly play defense and also be first of all,
at this stage in the game, finding your identity is
no longer like an excuse. It doesn't absolve you from
the responsibility of just not doing what you're supposed to do.
If you're coming in as a leader, as the guy,
you play a huge role in helping the team to
do that.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
So it's not we are finding our identity.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
I haven't done my job and getting this team to
a point where we can consistently identify and play, identify
who we are and be consistent that the responsibility.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
Weighs a lot on James Harden. I don't care. Kawhi
Leonard is interesting.

Speaker 5 (34:39):
He's an incredibly talented guy, but I've never saw him
as that leader, just from a vocal standpoint in particular,
He's not that guy.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
He's gonna give you the numbers.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
He's gonna lead by example, He's going to lead by example.
But if James Harden comes in, he's got a big personality.
You know, You're you're up top of the PG, like,
what are you doing. You're you're supposed to set the tone,
and I just don't see it happening.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
He did said to remember they were going through a
little little dry spell against Chris and then he decides to, uh,
you know, Chris, why which.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
Was again Chris that that Again it speaks to the
fact that this dude is just unhinged, because why would
you ever do that?

Speaker 4 (35:20):
That is when I saw it, I said, is he did?

Speaker 6 (35:23):
He?

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Is he high?

Speaker 6 (35:24):
Like?

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Who does that? You want to say that everybody, I'm
gonna say something. Everybody on his car gonna understand. Excuses
are what tools?

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Oh I'm just tired of I don't want to hear
any more excuses. You're not getting the job done, period,
and if I don't and if you don't farewell in
the postseason, there needs to be some changes made.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
When it comes to the Clippers, I'm extremely impatient because
they're not gonna be changed.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
They got a new arena that can't I don't.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
Care, and it looks nice, but they need to change
who's gonna be in there?

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Because this is absurd?

Speaker 1 (35:58):
No, yeah, yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
There's no way I can follow that because every like,
every nail, every nail was hit.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
I'm just tired, guys, I'm tired of this.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Just we're over it. We're over it.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
We're over it, Chris. We we just can't. There's nothing
that we can say to follow up on that. Also,
really quick, Phoenix, get your shit together.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
I don't know what you're doing. I don't know. I
don't know what's happening. I don't know what you're doing.
I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
You got, I mean, Kevin Durant another one where we
got to be like, we over the excuses.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
We're over, We're over, We're just to the to the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
You look to the Spurs like you just beat them
bout twenty five a couple of days ago, and they
and they didn't have Victor Winbyama exactly, and yet and
they didn't have Victor win Beyama, and they just completely
flipped the script like and granted it was a two
point win, but at the end of the day, it
ain't no way that a team like San Antonio don't
have their star's supposed to beat the freaking Suns. Like

(37:03):
I don't even need to go too much into it,
but I'm just gonna.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Say it again.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Get your together, Phoenix, please for all of us coming
up on the other side of the break, guys.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Jump ball is just ah.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Jump ball is interesting, Chris, because your girl she don't
know how to be quiet.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
Oh, y'all.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Before the Middle Tennessee State game against LSU, Kim Molkie
got on her Harry Potter reading glasses with a prepared
statement to the media and basically eviscerated a Washington Post
reporter who has been doing a story about her for

(37:43):
two years, and she gaslighted the hell out of him, saying, yeah,
this reporter has been trying to sit down with me
for two years. Hasn't happened. And then this Tuesday he
sends question La, you pr with a bunch of questions
and the deadline is Thursday. That's an unreasonable deadline, lady.

(38:10):
He was trying to interview you for two years and
you turned him down. I would say that he was
being extremely reasonable. And then she has the audacity to say, oh, yeah,
he's making claims to former disgrunt of players that yeah,
will make you anonymous if you share negative quotes, and
how this is the reason why people don't trust media

(38:33):
and journalists, and saying it in front of a room
full of journalists in media members. She said it's a
hit job and that I'm fed up. I'm fed up.
I've hired the best defamation lawyer in the country. I

(38:54):
will still watch the Washington Post if they published a
false story. Listen, ma'am, we know what you're trying to do.
You ain't gonna shoo nobody because the Washington Post, with
their reputation, they're not going to put out a story
that is going to allow them to be sued. It
is going to be air tight, as air tight as possible.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
You nailed it, Chris.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
And that was the point that I was going to
get to. Where don't they understand that this is the
Washington Post, having had to work at, you know, a
place that is very well known for doing investigative sports journalism,
there is a whole legal department that that's you know,
I was just recently on a story a couple of

(39:37):
years ago, actually it was last year. I was on
a story with Don Van Nada. We worked the story
together about the Dallas Cowboys and the cheerleaders, a situation,
and that story came out last year in January. And
when I tell you how many times we were threatened
to be sued to do this, to do that, there
is a whole legal team that ensures that, in fact

(40:00):
someone does try to sue from you doing your job accurately,
fairly and professionally, they have your back and you will
be fine. Those threats that she's making, she acts like
the Washington Posts.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Ain't been there and done that. Okay, So ain't nobody
scared of you?

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Killed? Ain't nobody scared of you? Number one and number two?
We've already seen who you are and the kind of
person you are. For the life of me, I still
can't understand truly why people enjoy playing for you. But
I will say, as much as you do get the
best out of your players, as much as you are
a championship winning coach, as much as you do have

(40:38):
the resume to back up why people quote unquote support you.
Your mannerisms, your character, and your attitude that you put
on public display says otherwise. I will never get over
how you treated Britney Grinder and how you refuse to
stand up for her, and anything that this article which
has not yet dropped, which we have not yet seen,
which we ain't even seen an excerpt from.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
So the article could just say you love Beyonce.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
Well know, we don't know what the.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Damn articles say, and you already in an uproar, then
lets me know whatever it is that you think is
coming out. You must have did something.

Speaker 5 (41:11):
You know what I mean, you must have did You
ain't even good at lying about it either because he
let me tell you, how we do you say you've
been I don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
I don't know what that story Washington.

Speaker 4 (41:21):
Post that.

Speaker 5 (41:25):
Say I don't know this man, you ain't You're already
guilty without even knowing what the story is even about.
But like, to me, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
And the third thing that really rubbed me the wrong
way is I don't know what journalists she's referring to.
I really don't, and I don't think I want to know,
because I have some really great friends who work for
the Washington Post that I know cover women's basketball, and
I don't know how professional I can be if one
of the journalists she's referring to is someone who I
know out of professional courtesy, I've yet to reach out

(41:58):
to these journalists to ask are they talking about you.
I'd rather have plausible deniability because I don't know if
as a friend and as a black woman, because one
of these journalists who I'm referring to is indeed a
black man, I don't know if i'd be able to
contain my mouth on any platform I'm on if this
is what you're talking about, because I know that this

(42:19):
person does their job professionally and would never put out
a story with false articles or false names, or false
facts or false quotes. So I don't know, but I
know you look in real guilty, Kim, and this is
a mess and it needs like you gotta be stopped.
You gotta be stopped.

Speaker 5 (42:38):
I think that, Karen, I mean, Kim Mulky Bachery. I'm
just I just feel like everywhere she leaves a trail
of drama everywhere she sits. And at this point, I'm
excited about this article because I think it's gonna substantiate
a lot of the drama that we've seen play out

(43:00):
in real time. Anybody in their right mind, journalists or not,
should I would hope that they understand that somebody being
on a story for two years means that they have
a story. So nobody's going to do something for two
years if they don't have significant information to be able
to make it a viable thing. So the minute I
heard two years, I said, oh, she'd.

Speaker 4 (43:20):
Been out here turning up and probably not in the
best of ways. That was my first thought.

Speaker 5 (43:24):
And secondly to both of your points, I mean, the
reality is, why would anybody get up and defend themselves
against something that has not even happened yet. That's all
we need to know. So I don't even know who's
advising her. For somebody a seasoned as she is as
a coach and just as a human being, she's older,
you should know, like, who's advising you? If you got
wind of this, who's telling you?

Speaker 4 (43:46):
Who told you?

Speaker 5 (43:47):
Yeah, go ahead and go into press conference, and especially
in the middle of a tournament and vent and have
a defensive fest. It just doesn't make any sense. My
other question is, where's her pr management? Whoever's advising her?
Why would you allow this? Because I would say, you
know what, Kim, keep it quiet. The article's not here yet.
If you think certain things may be coming out based
on what you've heard, okay, we'll deal with that. We're

(44:08):
already creating a response when this article does drop. But
if somebody needs to talk to you, I think you
should talk to them, not the press. Your team is
in the middle of a tournament. This is totally inappropriate.
And to me again, you've got that. Then you got
Angel Rees talking about her NIL deals and all of
that kind of stuff. You got fla Ja talking about
her albums coming out.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
It's too much.

Speaker 5 (44:27):
I'm actually tired of LSU And I hate to say
that because I want to wish these these young women.
Well I do, but there's so much drama and you
bleed from the head. It starts with Kim Mulki and
it's interesting for me. I didn't even realize that until
Angel was out earlier in the season and how all
of that happened and all of the covering ups or

(44:47):
whatever went on. Mind juice, everything's not our business. Whoever
did the article. I think I'm gonna go down to
the newsstand and get an actual newspaper and read it
like the old days, because I'm kind of interest to
see what's going on. I want to make sure that
I clarify that I did that the article.

Speaker 1 (45:07):
The reporter his.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
Name is camp Bab and he has confirmed that he
is the one who is working on a profile.

Speaker 4 (45:14):
Really and that's your you know KM, yeah, boy.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
And so and so to so to to the point
of you know the point of all of this, Chris,
and we can close it here.

Speaker 1 (45:26):
There's a lot that's going on in terms of you
had a tournament to play in.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Your players need to be focused on what's in front
of us and just recently coming off the comments about
I wish it had been angel recent doors that have
pushed in that. It's just there's just so much public
drama that at some point we got to let it go.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
I want to get out of here really quick.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
But Chris, I'm looking at your face right now, and
I feel like you got just one more like a
final thought before we end this topic here.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
Yes, So I find it incredibly infuriating to freakonturiad that
Kim Molkie always makes her players answer for her. She
is the grown ass adult in the room. It should
be the other way around. Where you protect your players.
You protect these young ladies who look up to you,
who believe in you, trust you. Yeah, and they're always

(46:14):
on the front line. Oh I love Kim Mokey blah
blah blah, Like, yeah, we hear a lot of things.
They're not true. Have some shame you. And that's in
contrast to Dawn Staley and now she will never, never
waste a moment to protect her players. You saw what
happened when somebody said something nasty about Camilla Cardosa. She said, ah,

(46:34):
y'all better quick, y'all better apologize. I don't like that
quickly Sanaia job. When she was suspended, it was like
she violated team rules. That's it, protects her And then
now she transfers and she stills like, yo, I'm always
gonna be here for her, like I want to see
her do well. That is an example of a leader
in somebody who understands the responsibility of being a head coach,

(46:58):
leading a power file team and making sure these ladies
feel protected and seen and her Kim Mokey does a
horrible job of that. She has consistently throwing injuries under
the bus, letting so many wild rumors fly. Yeah, I
know Angel probably playing the game and other people as well,

(47:19):
but yeah, that's why I'm always gonna ride for Don Staley.
Kim MOKEI can't stand her, and that's it. That's it.

Speaker 6 (47:30):
Now it's time to say goodbye to all of my
friends because the mic has been dropped, and the mic
has certainly been dropped.

Speaker 5 (47:42):
But yo, guys, as always, it's been a hell of
a show.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
