also great uncertainty about your rights. You need to retain
a worker's compensation law firm that is a winner like
our sixers, a firm that gets some of the best settlements,

(01:42):
Indiana Pacers win here in Philadelphia over the seventy six Ers,
they overcome a fifty one forty halftime deficit they overcome
a sixteen point first half deficit earlier in the second
quarter at forty three to twenty seven to beat the Sixers.
Improved to thirty seven and twenty eight the Sixers fall
(02:03):
to twenty two and forty four. Matt Murphy here at
the center will be joined by Tom McGuinness and Sixers
coach Nick Nurse. Twelve point win for the Pacers. The
leading scorer in the game was Pascal Siakam with twenty
seven leading rebounder was Gershan Yabusele with a career high
fifteen rebounds to go with his five points in thirty
(02:26):
six minutes. Tyrese Haliburton had the most assists ten with
his fourteen points. The Sixers leading scorer was Jeff Dalton Junior,
who scored seventeen of his career high twenty four points
in the first half, eleven of those in the first
quarter to give the Sixers a twenty six to eighteen
lead after the first The Pacers ants a big Sixers
(02:50):
run in the second quarter with one of their own
to have it at a single digit game heading to
the half, and they outscore the Sixers in the second
half sixty five to forty nine for the one to
twelve one hundred victory Sixers are heading out on the road,
(03:12):
which we'll talk to Tom about here in a minute.
They have a six game road trip coming up. The
big story from this particular stop at home was having
eight players, only eight players available, one of whom was
signed earlier today with special exception from the league to
(03:36):
get to eight based on how the injury report was
shaking with questionable players and such as their injury status.
O'she Brissett was signed to a ten day contract today.
He had a big score fourth quarter, which we will
hear part of during our audio highlights later on in
our Parks Casino postgame show. But Brissett made eight. The
(03:56):
three bench players today were Jalen Hood Schafino and his
Sixers debut Alex Reese, who's also a two way player
with the Delaware Blue Coats. The starters were Jared Butler,
Jeff Dalton, Junior Ricky Council. The fourth gershan Yabusele, and
Adem Bona. Those were the eight seventy six ers available
tonight against the fifth place defending Eastern Conference finalists. They
(04:19):
made it to the conference finals against eventual champion Boston
last season Indiana Pacers who came in thirty six and
twenty eight. They were five and five in their last
ten games. They pick up the victory. They had two
nights off before this. It's a they had a rare
home game in between two different three game road trips.
(04:39):
So they had a quick stop at home on Tuesday
and they beat the Bucks. Now they'll go to Milwaukee
tomorrow on the second night of a back to back
and they win the season series against the Sixers three
games to one. Let's jump on here with Tom as
we await coach Nurse and Tom, how about Jeff Doughton
junior tonight, the way that he started the game and
(05:02):
the way that he finished it with a new career high.
He's set a career high in back to back games.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Well, he was perfect. He opened seven for seven. He
struggled a little bit from three. But you know, you
talk about players oftentimes we say so and so can't
be sped up. In other words, they play at their
own pace. He's kind of like that when it comes
to the shot, Like he gets into that middle part
of the paint or around the following area and he
(05:28):
just slows things down. He shoots that little fadeaway shot
and he was on target and the Pacers were trying
to swarm him and they couldn't do anything early on.
So he was really effective for the Sixers. And it was,
let's be honest, a bit of a shocking start for
the Sixers for them to be able to take a
sixteen point lead, But the game turned in the early
(05:49):
part of the third and then the early port part
of the fourth. Collectively, in that first five and a
half minutes of the fourth and the six minutes of
the third, they shot I believe twenty one of twenty
four that's over eighty seven percent from the field. Siaka
I mean, you could just feel it. With the defense
of Nie Smith on Doubton Junior, the shooting of Siakam Turner,
(06:12):
how they really they they opened it a whole different tempo,
intensity and framework, and it turned the game around.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
That's the other part of this is that the Sixers
sometimes when they've been shorthanded this year, the other team
has injuries going on or in some cases recently rests
players against them. The Pacers team outside of the Isaiah
Jackson injury. Siakam was added to the injury report this
morning as questionable with the right elbow situation and he
(06:40):
ends up going and scoring twenty seven points. So this
was the Pacers going against the Sixers. Now as if
co jumps on, we will go immediately to that. But
there aren't many choices here outside of Jeff dollten Junior.
Who else impressed you because so many of these dem
sixers were getting extended time?
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Played really good. Bona was he was going right at Turner.
Sixteen points, nine rebounds. He played well defensively and very
efficient on offense again not you know, not going outside
as realm right like in other words, defending he had
nine rebounds, blocking shots, contesting shots. He looked good again.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
And Turner is one of those tough matchups in the NBA.
We saw it at shoot around when they're preparing for
the Pacers. They really are try to be aware of
where Miles Turner is. And I thought the second half
was better because in the first half Turner had fourteen
of his eighteen points. And the fact that he can
shoot the three and made a couple in the first
half that creates matchup problems against any team.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, for sure. And he's pretty good off the bounds,
like not necessarily driving it but there was the one
sequence in the first half where he dribbled, dribbled inside
the ark and then a big sweeping crossover that you'd
see a guard do or a smaller player to be
able to create space and get an open three. Ended
up shooting three and made a couple threes. But you're right,
(08:02):
and oh, by the way, he's one of the best
shop walkers in recent NBA history. And he had eighteen
points and seven rebounds. They got a really, they got
a good They got a lot of pieces, including Turner
and Halliburton and Siakam. I don't know. Nemhard maybe didn't
have his best game. He ended up one of six.
But TJ and Topping both kid in there, and they
(08:23):
play at a certain tempo and they're good. I'll be
they'll be fun to watch in the playoffs again this year.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
And when you look at their stats against the Celtics
in the Conference finals last year, it was really just
the Tatum and Jalen Brown show. It's not like anyone's
stats for Indiana jump out negatively in the series. They
just got out played by what proved to be the
best team last year and maybe the best team this year. Well,
and that's Austin. That's what ends up happening. You know,
you look at Cleveland acquiring Andre Hunter. New York went
(08:50):
out and got bridges. You got to be able to
get guys that can match up with other players, and
I think teams are trying to scheme and you know,
roster wise, trying to come up with guys that can
guard Catuve and Brown. Speaking of block shots, Ricky Counsel,
the fourth had three, Alex Reese had two, and I've
noticed he's had active hands. What have you thought about
Alex Reese in his past few games with the Sixers.
(09:12):
He made a three and has a very quick release
on his shot.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, and you had said that he's an outside shooter
and he hadn't really had a whole lot of success.
So there was that one play in the in the
early part of the fourth where he was wide open.
You just knew he was going to do it. There's
certain guys like you know, a week or so ago,
coach felt like Lonnie Walker was going to have some
huge strides and he ended up doing it before getting
(09:36):
hurt the other night here. Now he is Nick Nurse.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Uh to hang in there. But defensively, were really good
the first half, not so good second, but really good
the first half as well. So uh, I thought I
thought every guy that stepped out their helped tonight, So
that was good.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Do you think Jeff is playing with more confidence recently
career high at scoring in Toronto and then.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Topped it tonight.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Yeah, I mean I think again. Uh, I've said this
before too. I've always kind of liked him. He's he
really does, you know, twenty five to thirty five almost
every time he goes down to the G League. Got
in a little bit of a numbers game here at
the start of the season, you know, to recent Reggie
(10:24):
and Kyle and him was kind of tough to you know,
give him, give him any stints at all or any
extended stints. And now he's just you know, he knows
he's got to play a lot, knows he's not coming
out but much right, and that always helps to Yeah, a.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Play relative to what you expected.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
This first game a little different than I expected. Usually
he's a rebounding machine and he'll he'll go out there
and grab a ton of boards. I don't know if
he would he have won tonight in one rebound tip.
One tip in came close on a few other offensive ones.
But then he you know, then he scored well, shot
(11:04):
the ball, uh really well. So it was, you know,
pretty good twenty two minutes there from him. Just played
a lot of minutes yesterday, I think in a game
and traveled in today, and pretty good, I thought. And
I thought Jalen hood Chapino looked good too. You know,
he missed some shots, but I thought he got to
some spots. I thought he got only one maybe one
(11:26):
questionable shot. They took one three that it wasn't quite open,
But the rest of them he got some clearance. And
I thought he looked good handling the ball. So look
forward to watching those guys play a little more.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
You guys are going into a new games, you know,
with a huge disadvantage. With that being said, what are
you looking at in regards to evaluating you'll player? Well?
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I think that you know, the guys especially that we're
we're we're needing to see, you know, like like Bonus,
probably in this group tonight, one of the guys at
the top of the list, you know, is he gonna,
is he gonna It's good he can play that many minutes,
get on the glass, score block shots, that's what you know,
we need him to to keep and I think he
battled through a bit of an ankle problem there in
(12:09):
the second half. Didn't look like it on that dunk
that he had an ankle problem, But you know he's
certainly you know one when guy, we're looking, you know,
looking at really closely to to to keep improving, get
more minutes, you know, and then you know, some of
the other guys, Ricky and Jared and and then then
Jalen and O'Shea too, to see what they have. I mean,
(12:29):
we just got to get these guys some minutes and
see what level and if they can help us by
getting these minutes, you know, down down the road, guy.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Mark on his six game trip. Is there an expectation
that tyres could possibly return.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
On the Yeah, I think I think yes. Give me
the day to day guys again, Edwards, Drummond, Oubra and
Grimes are all day to day and Tyrese's he should
get into this trip at some point. I don't think he'll.
I don't think he'll make the next one, but maybe
(13:05):
maybe after that we can see where he's at.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Seventy six Ers Postgame Show presented by Parks Because you
know the final score here in Philly. The Pacers won twelve,
the Sixers one hundred. Nick Nurse will often mention Jeff
Dalton's G League scoring and being like an automatic thirty
point player. He actually had a forty one point playoff
game in their last game of the season last year
for the Blue Coats. And one quick note before we
(13:31):
just end on the road trip tom is that he
mentioned Oshae Brissett playing yesterday. He plays for the Long
Island Nets, but the game was not at Nasau Coliseum.
They're playing six home games this year in Montreal. So
he played a G League game and scored twenty points
last night in Montreal for the the Long Island Nets,
who for six games only this year became Leynets in Canada.
(13:54):
So he's now here in Philly. I wonder what his
travel looked like. He had a big fourth quarter for
the Sixers, who will now travel for what is it
ten days? Yeah, ten day road trip, six games.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Let's say outlet's say sleep well tonight, but he's thinking
about getting up.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Early day game on Sunday in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
That's so the trips a little earlier for the Sixers.
You know, that was slated for ABC, but I think
with the way things have gone for both the Sixers
and the Mavericks, they've been shall we say flexed, isn't
that what they call it? So yeah, so the trip
starts a little earlier, you want to get down there.
I think they're going to practice or at least our
scheduled too. So yeah, that's neat o'sha. But you could tell,
(14:36):
like when I talked to the folks from Indiana, they
said he's an incredible athlete and it was really impactful
in the game of all things for Boston against the
Pacers in the playoffs last year, and you could tell
had some confidence and with those guys, including Alex Reese,
including Hood Schaffino and for a moment Dar o'shee, Like
(14:56):
early in the game they were off a little bit,
but you felt like they were gonna find their rhythm
a little bit. You know. It's they're all with a
new team, and I know Alex has been here for
ten days or so.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
But speaking of playing yesterday, Hood Shaffino, who hadn't played
in three months, played four games in the last what five.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Six days coming off a back injury. So that's got
to be difficult but yeah, no, it's again, it's a
great opportunity for them. Here's Justin Edwards signing autographs with
a young group here in front of us. And look,
they competed. They made it very interesting. But then you
know the talent went out as Indiana. That was impressive.
You got to tip your cap to them, and that
(15:34):
is they. Like I said, they turned it up both offensively,
but I think more impressively defensively, and that shifted the
tide and turned things in their favor with how they
played early after trailing in the first half by as
many as sixteen.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Six game road trip in coming. Dallas is thirty three
and thirty four. Houston on a back to back, they're
forty one and twenty five, and then after that it
will be ok CEE, San Antonio, Atlanta, and New Orleans.
But it starts on Sunday afternoon at one pm Eastern.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Tom, thanks well being the big d catch ust on
the radio, the Sixers and the Mavericks from Texas, all right,
Sunday at one.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
If that doesn't get you to tune in, I don't
know what what. Tom McGinnis, thank you, one twelve, one hundred.
The Pacers tonight in Philadelphia. We've got more stats coming
and the highlights here on our Parks Casino postgame show.
We'll be right back. Welcome back to the Sixers postgame Show.
We're here in Philadelphia. The postgame show is presented by
Parks Casino. It's the Sixers and the Pacers tonight. The
(16:34):
Sixers had eight players available. Pacers led the season series,
coming in two games to one. They're fifth in the
Eastern Conference and on Milwaukee's tail. They just beat the
Bucks in dramatic fashion on Tuesday, which was their last
game with two nights off before this one, on a
four point play from Tyrese Halliburton. Fouled by Giannis challenge unsuccessful,
(16:56):
Halliburton completes the four point play for the win. They'll
be on a back to back playing in Milwaukee tomorrow.
But let's hear how this one sounded from start to
finish with the Sixers and the Pacers. Tom McGuinness on
the call here in Philly. Sixers in red uniforms in
(17:17):
typical Friday fashion, Pacers in navy blue and gold. Matt
Murphy back with you to take you through Tom's calls.
The Sixers had Quentin Grimes and Kelly Ubray Junior added
to the injury the lengthy injury report as today went along.
So for Grimes, it was an illness for Ubray a
(17:39):
right knee sprain and they join that long list that
also included Lonnie Walker the fourth this evening because of
a concussion on Wednesday in Toronto. Justin Edwards has been
dealing with that ankle sprain in and out of the
lineup out Tonight. Andre Drummond went back out for the
toe injury after battling an illness. It's just been the
story of the Sixers season. Their starting lineup was their
(18:02):
forty second different starting lineup of the season, league leading,
and it's now more than the twenty fourteen to fifteen
seventy six Ers which had forty one. And it was
Jeff Dalton Junior starting for the first time in his
NBA career, with Jared Butler, Ricky Council the fourth, gershon Yabusele,
and Adem Bona. On a night where they were celebrating
(18:27):
mascot Franklin's birthday celebration here at the Center, which was
presented by Amansipet Clinics. Swoop was here, Gritty Fang, Benny
the Bull Hugo the Hornet Wingston Cody from the Blue Coats.
I hope I didn't leave anyone out doubting and the
Sixers got off to a good start in the game,
twenty one to twelve on Yabusele three points forced in
(18:50):
Indiana timeout and for doubting. In his first start, he
at eleven points in the first quarter. He started the
first half shooting seven for seven from the field and
to get to double digits in the quarter. He put
the Sixers up by double digits late.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Dalton Junior was seventy seconds to go. Shephard checks him
top of the key. Dowton Junior into the lane trying
to maneuver get free, puts it up at it now
it looks like the possession's going nowhere, that he's taking
way too long, but he scores it. He's five for
five six is by ten.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Jeff Doughton Junior scored seventeen points in the first half
after setting a career high of twenty on Wednesday against
his former team, the Raptors in Toronto, and it was
twenty from twenty six to sixteen there to twenty six
eighteen after the first quarter. A great start for the
shorthanded six Ers second quarter at forty twenty seven, Delphi
(19:49):
was on a twelve to two scoring run. Lots of
free throws mixed into the early part of this game,
and the scoring run would continue to fifteen two as
Ricky Council. The fourth launch is one.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
They go to Yabu sele He's double team down low left,
bangs into Turner. Chump Pook block fight Turner, back out
top Ricky Council for three. It's in the ear, It's
gone hot, Tapola's gone bye. Ricky Council and the Sixers
lead the Pacers forty three twenty seven. Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Sixteen point lead for the Sixers. Council with fourteen points
in the game, eight in the first half, including both
of his three pointers. He also had a career high
three block shots tonight. He had never had a multi
block game in his NBA career. Forty three to twenty
seven Sixers. Though the Pacers would force a time out
(20:45):
at forty five thirty eight with three minutes left in
the half, they used a thirteen to two scoring run
in the second quarter. Miles Turner had fourteen first half points.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Indiana with the ball going right to left in blue
with yellow three to zero, five to go, dem Hard
lobs into turner. Turner guides it in. Sixers did not
get back defensively with numbers after that drive by Dowton Junior,
good feed thereby Nemhard his first assists and a timeout
taken by the Sixers.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
That was the forty five to thirty eight score. Turner
with fourteen of his eighteen points in tonight's game in
the first half, he was the second leading scorer on
the night, behind Pascal Siakam, who we'll hear from in
a moment, and from forty five thirty eight to fifty
one forty seven. At halftime, Sixers still ahead, but by
four after it was sixteen.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Boda comes to screen. Ricky hat of fade at a corner,
gets it, step back on turner, remy no long rebound
Pacers No. Dubton Junior comes up with it. But now
hal Burton gets it. He goes ahead to Siakam and
Siaka will duncan.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
That is what capped a thirteen to four Indiana scoring
run to open the second half. Siakam's their leading scorer
at twenty point eight points per game, sixty to fifty
five Indiana Halliburton with one of his game high ten assists,
twenty seven points for Pascal Siakam on twelve of twenty shooting.
Halliburton was five for thirteen shooting the ball, two for
(22:10):
seven from three and two for three from the line.
Fourteen points for Tyrese Haliburton with the tenn assist twenty
seven for Siakam, and in that he scored twelve in
the third, ten in the first five minutes of the
third quarter to put them up by five. Third quarter,
the Sixers back within single digits after well, they stay
(22:34):
within a single digit game. The dem Bona, he fakes
the dribble handoff and look out for the rest of
the play.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Put Schaffido bringing it across Adox Reeses in the game.
He got the rebound a moment ago four forty in
the third six Ers down by ten, Indiana sixty nine
to fifty nine. Down the day, hot demn Bona right
down Broad Street, a left hand jam. That's his move.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
He did that in Indiana in mid January and then
in Milwaukee, which was his first career NBA start at
the time against one of his basketball idols, Giannis. Tonight
was his second career started, forced to Rick Carlisle time
out at sixty nine to sixty one at den Bona's
final line. Sixteen points, nine rebounds, two steals and a block.
(23:20):
That's a new career high in scoring for a dem Bona,
the rookie from UCLA. In thirty three plus minutes, he
was five for eight from the field and six for
seven from the line. Sixers are within eight Jeff Dalton
Junior to make it a one possession game late in
the third quarter and to set a new career high.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
And now the six is stealing Yabu sale deflexa pass
inetenant for Obie top it won forty six or two
within five Doubton Jill, you're.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Down the lane.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
He's got a new career high twenty one and Rick
Carlisle takes time.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Out seventy four seventy one. Sixers trailing by three, as
they would be after three seventy eight seventy five after
a thirty one to twenty four to third quarter in
favor of the visiting Pacers, and to start the fourth quarter,
the Pacers would score the first ten points and they
(24:20):
really never looked back in this game. Despite a double
digit quarter four ten day contract player of the Sixers.
O'she Brissett, who came into the quarter with one point.
He ended up knocking down three of his five threes
in the game. Three makes from three in the fourth quarter.
Here's one, here's Butler for three. No good tap out
(24:42):
by Hood Schaffino. Sixers get it back.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Jalen with it on the right side, back out top
to Doubton Junior eight to shoot. Ohshae Brissett for three
from out front and that's it. Eighth May three. Good
job by the Sixers on a second chance opportunity. They're
eighteen point in that aspect of the game and they
make it a nine point in the NL Pacers ninety three,
six Ers eighty two.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Oh Sha Brisset. So he ends with fourteen points on
five of eight shooting in twenty two minutes and forty
four seconds his Sixers debut after playing for the Long
Island Nets in Montreal last night in a win. Brissett
is twenty six years old. He is from Mississauga, Ontario
and Sarahcuse University. But the Pacers win this one tonight
(25:25):
won twelve one hundred in Philadelphia. The Sixers shot forty
five percent from the field, twenty nine percent from three
and sixty eight percent from the free throw line. The
Pacers shot forty nine percent overall twenty nine as well.
From three, they were ten for thirty five. The Sixers
were eleven for thirty eight. They missed four free throws
(25:48):
for a seventy eight percent night and a big discrepancy
in the assists, so thirty one assists on forty four
made field goals for Indiana and thirteen assists for Philadelphia
on thirty seven made field goals, sixteen assists or sixteen
turnovers as well, compared to eleven for the Pacers. Haliburton
(26:10):
had only one turnover with his game high ten assists. Siakam,
as mentioned, was the leading scorer at twenty seven. In
the the Eastern Conference, the Pacers are fifth, though they
have matched the Bucks record wise at thirty seven and
(26:33):
twenty eight, and they've won two in a row. The
first before the Sixers game was against Milwaukee, and they'll
play tomorrow, so that's a big game in the Eastern
Conference eight o'clock in Milwaukee, eight Eastern. The Sixers will
play Sunday afternoon in Dallas. They are now twenty two
(26:56):
and forty four, back to thirteenth in the East after
Brooklyn lost yesterday. Brooklyn has the divisional record tiebreaker over
the Sixers in the standings, Toronto in eleventh at twenty
three and forty three. After beating the Sixers, Chicago is
tenth by five games over Toronto for the last play
(27:20):
in tournament spot in the Eastern Conference. Chicago was not
in action tonight, though they came from behind against Brooklyn yesterday,
so Brooklyn almost won. They were up ten going into
the fourth quarter, so they wouldn't have had the same
record as the Sixers even after tonight's result, but they
(27:44):
blew the game. They blew a double digit lead in
Chicago yesterday. Tonight, the Sixers were up fifty one forty
seven at halftime and lose to the Pacers won twelve
one hundred. Our stat or stats of the game are
the career high totals for multiple players tonight. For Ricky Council,
(28:07):
the fourth who had never had multiple blocks in one game,
he had three to set a new career high.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
There.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Gercia Yabusele's career high in the NBA for rebounds was
thirteen coming into this game. He had fifteen and two
players set career highs in scoring. On the Sixers side,
Jeff Dowen Junior, after scoring twenty in Toronto, had twenty
four on eleven of twenty shooting one for five from
(28:32):
three and he made his only free throw. He added
five rebounds and four assists plus two steals in a
block in forty minutes as a starter. The other was
at Den Bona, who had that big game against the
Jazz which he really filled out the stat sheet with
a double double one that night and five blocks which
was a career high, career highs across the board against
(28:54):
Utah in a win. Well, he went past the fourteen
points he had that night with sixteen tonight, a new
career high for adem with nine rebounds, two steals and
like doubt and two steals and one blocked shot. So
career nights for our stats of the game. So, the
Sixers lose the season series to the Indiana Pacers three
(29:17):
games to one. The one was the Sixers first win
of the season back in late October. It required overtime
in Indiana. Tyrese Maxi scored a season high forty five
points in that game. Tonight, the Sixers didn't have Maxi
and ten others. They had eight players available, including o'she
(29:39):
Brissett on a ten day contract, and they fall to
the Pacers. That will wrap up our Parks Casino postgame
show with a final score of Indiana one twelve Philadelphia
one hundred. Thanks to our engineer Marty Dickerson, producers Brendan Gunn,
Sean Rodman, Mike Morano and Matt Manarek, and of course
