Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's nine with Jenny Garth and Tori Spelling. Everybody listen
to me, Hi, guys, it's US nine to one. MG. Hello, Hi,
Today's a very special day. It is look decorations the
(00:26):
Kelly Taylor Kelly Taylor's eighteenth birthday. Oh my gosh, so excited. Yes,
so we did send some surprises. But Tory, Jenny, guys
have to say, what happened when you got the birthday gifts? Yeah?
Someone rang the door and I was like, who the
heck is that? And this little lady comes in holding
(00:50):
a ginormous bouquet of balloons, like the most beautiful balloons
I've ever seen, and I thought, oh no, I think
those are for somebody else. That's Kelly. Yeah. Then I
saw the heavy rid to Kelly, and I put you
know two and two together. What did you get? You
got a birthday surprise, So in honor of your birthday,
I got some goodness too, which I'm very excited about.
(01:12):
So this showed up and my kids got the door
and my son Liam comes in and he goes, um,
I feel bad. We got somebody's birthday cookie cake and
it's delivered here by mistake. And I said, oh no,
why and he said, because it's his happy birthday. Kelly's
For a moment, I was like, wait, show me and
(01:33):
show me it is there a receipt? I go, oh
my god, I got delivered the wrong address. Stop the person.
And then I go, oh my gosh, no, it's does
it's this episode. Look at that, Kelly. That's so cute, Amy,
sugar man. I can't believe you didn't a tell us
it was coming and be I'm super mad at you
(01:54):
because I'm totally going to eat this tonight on my ambience.
I can't tell you it's a prize party, it's a surprise.
It's a surprise party. Jen. This is one thing I
don't even know about you. Do you like surprise parties
or not? Okay? Who likes a surprise party? Some people
(02:18):
like surprises? Okay, so you and I are the same.
We hate surprises. I couldn't remember that one thing. I
don't think I've ever asked you that are you birthday?
People like, are you guys like it's my birthday? Nope? No,
not not these days. Maybe back and when I was
turning eighteen? Yeah, same same, Wait, sorry did you turn eighteen?
(02:40):
While working on Beverly Hills nine O two one. Oh
do Jen? Yeah? We both did? Wait? Did too? Oh
my god? Do you guys remember it? I'm sure you
probably do, don't you. I totally remember my eighteenth birthday.
May I just give a few details for one twick second? Please? Wait?
Am I can I eat this yet? But Jen, you're
(03:03):
not here to put your left pinkie and smirit left
or right through? Your name? Is that thing? That's the
thing in my family? Oh that's cute. May I do
it for you? No? I want a picture of the cake. No, nope, nope, nope,
I gotta take a picture of the cake. Um. Sorry,
putting it right here? Put out your Instagram that'd be cute. Okay.
So my eighteenth birthday party was at Bar one, which
(03:23):
was it's no longer there was on Sunset and um
and my parents threw it for me and for some reason.
I don't know if you were out of town, but
I don't think you were there, which makes no sense
in my world. There were no there were no girls
from the show there, Like, I don't think Shannon was there.
I don't. Yeah, I don't think God was there anyway, Bryan,
(03:45):
Jason and Luke. I know we're there for sure, and
I have these obviously eighteen not drinking. But it was
at a club called shutdown, called Bar One. But I
have these crazy insane pictures with the boys, and I
have way too much like a self tanner on because
I was super dark and a white dress. But you
(04:05):
can tell in the photos I'm living my best life
surrounded by like Jason and Luke and not even about Brian.
This party I wasn't even like about Brian. I was like,
by Jason and Luke are like flocking me on either side,
and I was so excited and then um, and then
Luke kissed me on my lips for my eighteenth birthday,
just like a but I could have died and gone
(04:27):
to heaven on happy And it was a in a
limo afterwards with all my girls, like my girlfriend's, my
not non nine girlfriends around and they were just like,
Luke Perry just kissed you. I was like, it was
just a peck, but whatever, yes, I'll take it. That
isn't a good party. I remember Bar One, Oh my god,
(04:47):
bar One, which ended up then being like a sushi restaurant.
It's like Dohenian sunset. Basically, I was gonna say, isn't
it kind of across from Soho House? Where Soho houses?
Now You're right exactly across. Oh my gosh, I wish
I had been there. But yeah, we got the same present.
Eighteenth birthday, you got to kiss Lucan, so did I.
(05:08):
I feel like your kiss was a little better than mine.
I'm just saying, uh, you know what, the kiss that
I thought was the cutest in this whole episode though,
really really sweet kiss and almost to me sort of
like foreshadowing. Do you know what I'm talking about? What
(05:29):
was the cutest kiss in this episode? Cutest kiss in
the episode? I was just focused the whole episode on
how much spray they put on her hairline when she
was supposed to be sweating from diet pill. Sorry keep going.
Brandon kissing Kelly on the but it was a little
bit more intimate and he said happy birthday, sweetie, and
(05:51):
I just thought, oh, I think I love you and
I think I love them together. Yeah, I got a
little got a little thing too. It was really cute
because he's just a little hansy. He's super handsy in
the best way. Yeah, like, you know, like whenever he
(06:12):
has to hug or kiss or something he like goes
for like that the touch of Brendan Brandon, Like it's
just a little much, So he's probably super excited to kiss.
Jim's not a little much, not a little much for us,
not a little much over here? Is he kind of
a physical guy? Like do you guys like is he
a hugger? Is he like a toucher? Like hard? Sorry? Whoa, whoa?
(06:33):
That was aggressive. So he's very strong. He's a very
strong man. And when he goes to shake your hand,
I always get nervous. Do you get nervous when he's
going in to shake somebody's hand when we're meeting somebody,
because I know he's gonna it's that grip, But he
isn't mean to. It's just he's strong. Yeah, he's strong,
So that's what I mean. When he does everything, it's strong.
And he's got big, like beefy hands too, Like they're big.
(06:57):
They're like they're not you know, like they're not scrawny
little hands, their manly hands. This is true. Yeah, he
has a manly physicality. Yeah, Like when he hugs you, Amy,
it's it's a hard hug. Right, I hugged him. I
just don't I don't remember it, and I hope I
hug him again soon so that I can think next time. Yeah,
(07:19):
he's just he gives it all all he's got. Yeah. Oh,
actually I need to text him, oh to come on
our show. You should. Well, I'm going to text him
to invite him and the family to the I Heart
Radio Music Festival. You stop right now. I'm gonna tell
him you who guys are gonna be there and that
you all to Oh. Oh, we could do a special
podcast backstage. Oh, I am present together. Oh. I should
(07:42):
send this to Iran too. Oh, this is fun. What
are you doing right now? I don't know. It sounds
like she's having a party. Yeah, and it's your birthday
and she's having a party right now. You know who? Really?
I thought was amazing in this episode, Jenny. Yes, of
course Steve Sander And no, Steve Sanders. He was super
(08:05):
cute this episode, really cute and really you understood the
connection that he has with Kelly like that? Do you
think best friends since the beginning of time? Well, let's
get into it. You guys, tell me talk about it.
What is your thought after rewatching this episode? Both, let's
(08:26):
let's dive in season three episode, Perfectly Perfect, aired March nine. Synopsis,
Happy eighteenth birthday Kelly Taylor. With the possible sale of
her house, Kelly gives her mother and prospective buyers a
hard time. David and Donna planned to throw Kelly a
surprise eighteenth birthday party at the peach Bit, but things
(08:47):
take an unexpected turn when Kelly collapses due to an
overdose of diet pills. Meanwhile, Steve badgers Brandon into joining
him on a dating game show where Steve wins a date.
Was The Less Blundy Enter Jennifer Grant directed by Bethany Rooney,
written by Jillian Horvath. I didn't remember that Jennifer Grant
(09:08):
showed up this really I didn't either, felt later to
me very exciting. Everybody knows that that Jennifer Grant is
the daughter of Carrie Grant, Carry Grant Grant and Diane
Cannon Diane Kea. She looks just like her mom. She does.
(09:32):
She looks just like her mom. Very cute. She is
so cute. She is amazing and super kind in the
best smile Jennifer Grant. I haven't talked to her in years.
I would love to see her again. Can we get
her on the show exactly the same. You're adorable, Yeah,
she was always so. Did you know she was like
(09:55):
legendary daughter when she came? Yeah? I did not. I knew.
I knew Diane Cannon because she and my dad were friends,
but I didn't know the carry grandpart until Jennifer told me.
I had no idea, which obviously does make sense grand
Cross name, but I didn't get it. Do you remember
what you knew about her when she showed up? I
(10:18):
just remember she was the daughter of the of those
two people. That's how I knew. Yeah, I wonder if
she auditioned. We should ask her that questions we should
ask her We I have another another co star question.
I guess our question there. Okay, the girl that is
the daughter of the prospective buyer, this in your closet
(10:40):
that you chuck things at. She's somebody. She went on
to be a big star like Rebecca Hurst. And she's
on General Hospital. Oh that's how I know her, of course,
And she does want to come on. I tried to
get her on today, but she's doing a bunch of
work on General Hospital. So we are going to have
her on, but it'll just be a couple of weeks
(11:01):
from now when it slows down at General Hospital because
that scene we have to retreat. She was on something else?
Was she not a state? Was she on not landing
with Brad Pitt? Oh my god, Brad Pitt was, Yeah,
he was. Let me keep talking, keep giving your spots
on this episode while I find out. I have a
(11:21):
question for you about your hair. I feel obviously you
are the O G natural blonde, like I am a
diet blonde. She is not a diet blonde. But I
feel like your hair it was a little different color
this episode, lighter, darker, It had almost a little bit
of a warmth to it. Did you feel that way?
(11:45):
Maybe it's the diet pills. I only noticed it because
even when your hair is wet, it's still blonde, which
everyone's hair gets darker when sweat, and you're like the
only person whose hair stays blonde. But when your hair
was wet from the diet hills and you were sweating
and doing the Stepmaster, oh like those stair Master, like
a little warmth. Choice. So I didn't know if you
put a tone or something on it. I don't I
(12:06):
don't remember, but I was cracking up at that stair
stepper thing and and that angle that they shot her at.
Oh boy, what why was the camera so low like that?
I mean you looked great, but the scrunchy socks. I
mean you had really good form on that StairMaster, StairMaster, stepmaster?
(12:27):
What was that one called? I think that was the
O G StairMaster that was before Yeah, it was called
a stepper stepper? Was stepper? Do you feel like that
came before or after your workout video? So do you
think you? And I think that this might have been
around the same time that my my exercise video came out.
(12:50):
You were so sweaty. That was really sweaty. She was
working hard, you guys. She wanted to be perfect, per
perfectly perfect for her eighteenth birthday, which is not about
you know what. Wait, we should do something, you guys listeners.
You should uh contact us a k Amy who reads
(13:12):
every single comment um and let us know how many
times you think they said everyone says perfect in this episode?
No coincidence, I'm sure did you do you have account?
Did you do account? You just thought of it. We
can't see any knots landing for Rebecca Herbs, but we
do see General hospital. Uh, okay, um ps um. They
(13:39):
shouldn't have written banana in because fact, banana is the
Snickers of the fruit world. So no, it's very sugary.
I didn't want something to eat when you're trying to diet. Yeah,
so here I have a list of questions. I feel
like this whole thing is like the most Seus's fault
from the last episode member when they went to the
spot and she made Kelly it's all her fault. This
(14:00):
whole thing is her fault. Yeah, no, I mean, let's
talk about it. The trajectory of the eating disorder sort
of did come from that trip to Santa Barbara to
Monicito because of that mssuse and you maybe we're sort
of grappling with some things and then that is where
it began. Nip didn't help, that is correct. Nobody helps,
(14:27):
even Jackie. I mean even in the kitchen with the
banana scene, when Kelly says something like I shouldn't be
eating anyway. Don't you think a mom would pick up
on that, Like I know I would. I'd be like, yes,
you should, you should be eating. You need to have
a meal before you go to school or else. Your
brain isn't gonna work. I give her a whole lecture
about it and how she needs But I think Jackie
(14:47):
didn't have to say anything. Clearly, they all knew Kelly
was going through stuff, right, you were emotionally really imploding,
Like Jackie acknowledges it where you're like she sa, every
time you talk to me, you get into a fight
or we get into an argument. That is an indication
that something's going on. I think that's just teenage inks too,
(15:12):
like they're all they all are going through something, but
they just arety focusing on Kelly's series. It was very
minuscule in the episodes leading up to this, and then
in this episode it really became an explosion. But I
do think with eating it, people hide them. Yeah, she
(15:33):
wasn't hiding it very because she was always taking the
diet pills out in front of people, Lose weight fast pills,
and she had them like in the kitchen cupboard. Like
that was random too. I thought, why is she putting
them right there? But I appreciated that because it's not
like I feel like she didn't know she was doing
something bad. Yeah, she didn't know something she bought could
(15:56):
be so dangerous. Dylan calls you out on it and
you lie. You said you were following the directions and
you definitely were not. Yeah, towards the end, she was
popping them like tex So. But he could have helped
the cause there too, because what I was looking for
when he said in that scene that she was why
are you taking like something like I think you're beautiful,
(16:19):
I love your body like that considered better. I totally
feel that. I didn't think that in the moment, But
now that you say that, yeah, he's still morning, it's
too it's too early for him to no true. But
I just wish they had written that in like something.
Do you think it would have She's just moody and
(16:41):
I wouldn't have worked, but it would have made her
feel good for a second. I think when anyone tells
you they're obviously not happy with their body, you want
to reassure them, give them some some reassurance of positivity,
gives them something hopeful. Interestingly, though, this is something I
learned friend of mine was antorexic. You're not supposed to
(17:02):
tell them they look good because it reinforces what they're doing. Yeah,
if you say anything about their parents, it's translated to
them in their head. As a message that is negative.
Keep doing what I'm doing. I agree, but there's a
(17:24):
different way to handle it, like just some resurance that
I love you, I know you want to be healthy.
I want to support you. Like it just it didn't
feel enough for me in that scene. That's all I
think you're read that everyone knew something wasn't right and
they kept glossing over it. Yeah, I think that's. Yeah,
(17:45):
it's just weird because like, this isn't the first time
that somebody's been anorexic or believe it or had an
eating disorder like this isn't we weren't inventing the wheel
like this is. It's been going on for years and
years like and then that's why it also shocked me
that Jackie didn't know. It's because she was in the
modeling world and all that she was under all those
pressures as a model, Like I would think she would
(18:07):
be more conscious of it. So that makes me ask
for the baby to make it. I thought, that's why
you like, she's handling the baby, sobe thinking, Yeah, do
(18:29):
you think nine O two one oh handled eating disorders well?
Or do you think they did it a disservice? Well?
If this is it. Then they did it a disservice
because if this storyline doesn't go anywhere or I don't
know what happens next, but I would think it would
deserve a little bit more than just that end scene
(18:52):
with the doctor and Kelly in the bed, for sure.
But my dad loved doing topics that were topical amongst teenagers,
and he had done an Emmy Award winning movie um
TV movie called Best Little Girl in the World with
Jennifer Jason Lee that was all about eating disorder before this.
So yeah, I think I think we're going somewhere with it,
(19:16):
but they could have handled it better this episode. See,
I have this weird feeling this was the end of it.
But but we'll see because I can't remember, because I
think we wrapped the gambling issue up with a little
pink ball, you know, real quick, so we'll have to see.
I can't totally remember. I got sidetracked by remembering Jennifer
(19:39):
Grant storyline because weirdly, in my memory she dated Brandon,
so it was super weird to me. I'm completely thrown off,
but I thought she was going to pick Brandon. Fully,
I'm on board with you. Once she picks Steve. I
remember now a little of what's coming with Steve. I
(20:03):
never thought it was Brandon for some reason. It was
like the first girl he got. That is right, and
I'm so happy Steve girlfriend. Yeah, I was relieved, and
she genuinely likes him, So I think this sort of
episode was a real moment for Steve. We see Steve
really the most thoughtful with Kelly, the most concerned that
(20:26):
she's okay, and then decides to tell her about the
surprise party because he was so concerned that she was
sort of so upset everyone's talking about me. Did you
think he did the right thing by by by ruining
and quotes the surprise party? Yeah, I do. I feel
(20:46):
like I would have wanted to know. Yeah, especially she's
all distraught already. He's trying to like ease her, you know,
anxiety in general. Yeah, I felt the same way. I
felt like, if somebody doesn't tell her why they're talking
about her and why everyone's being so weird, she's really
(21:07):
going to lose it. Yeah, And he's already like Schizzo
from the drugs and like nervous and stressed and uptight.
She's now she's paranoid to like it's all part of it. Yeah.
I thought they really have turned Steve around, especially in
this episode. So then he likes the game show, he
gets the girl. Wait, wait, before he gets the girl,
(21:30):
how cute was he when he said zucchini? Z cute?
They said what's your favorite vegetable? And he goes zucchini
and he just gives that ship eating grin of his
adorable And then he gets the girl, which we've seen
him time and time again not get the girl. And
(21:51):
then he really says, I can't go out with you,
like I have to go to my best friend's birthday.
I don't know why he didn't just bring her. That
was weird, but I guess the cameras whatever. How uncomfortable
were you during the game show though, when nobody asked
the middle guy anything and nobody picked him, was so uncomfortable.
I was like, this is that that? Poor Bye? I
(22:15):
also had a full moment of is Ryan's Seacrest hosting
this because you know, Ryan comes on like okay, so
I fully thought I was like, oh no, I wonder
if Ryan would have done like our guest this week
because he's the host. And then I was like, oh no,
it's a different game show. I think that comes like
five years later. So I was all my sense of
(22:36):
time nine O two one oh time was really thrown
off on this episode because I was, like Jennifer Grant
just seemed because I think, I don't want to ruin
it whatever. I think they wanted to make a reality
dating game called love at First Sight first sight love
(22:58):
is blind. See, we were at our time, out of
its time. So okay, so back to Steve. Let's keep
talking about Steve here. So Steve your favorite topic, go ahead.
I do love him iron but I also did really
love Steve in this episode because I thought he was
so sweet and really seemed to be the one that
was understanding of what was happening, figures out how to
(23:20):
get to the party, rushes to the hospital. I actually
could have enjoyed a little bit more of a moment
between the two of them in the hospital. Yeah that
felt rushed too, because he worked so hard to get
there and here, you're right, Yeah, so I thought, I
just thought, Okay, Steve's having a real moment. Okay, so
(23:40):
let's we'll kind of go around out of order. So
what did you think of the whole Love at First
Sight bit? Game. I just really was uncomfortable but that
the middle guy didn't get any love. And then I
was also uncomfortable when um Brandon answers that question about
how he wishes all the girls looked like Celeste, Like,
if you could take the best parts of each girl,
(24:02):
what's a terrible question to ask them, those poor girls,
to be honest? It board me a little bit, you know, Well,
I just wanted to get to the Kelly stuff. I
was trying to figure out invested in that whole storyline. Yeah,
where they where did did they shoot that game show?
And I was trying to look at the pick the
(24:23):
posters on the wall. It was clearly like a studio,
so that must have the whole chairs there and everything.
I didn't. I didn't mind it. I love this whole episode,
every part of it. Okay, so let's talk about Let's
talk about Kelly. Who smokes when they when the which
(24:43):
is smoking a cigarette while they're walking through It was
kind that he was carrying around an ash tray though, Yeah,
I guess so what how considerate of him? That's crazy?
That's crazy. Number two, nobody rings a doorbell for an
open house. That's the whole ideas it's open. Oh, you're right.
And then but and usually the homeowners aren't there when
(25:09):
there's an open house. Totally, that's like part of it
because you're gonna go in and judge their house. Yeah.
And also like you could dirty it up like Kelly
did with the potato salad. And I was thinking, Oh
my god, she just put that stinky potato salad in
the garbage disposal in the sink. It's gonna smell the
kitchen up. Nobody's gonna want this house. The potato salad situation.
I was watching it on my phone and I was like,
(25:31):
what is she eat hanging At first, I was like
trying to like zoom in, um, how many times do
you have to eat? Why potato salad? Did they Okay?
I have a question. Do you think or do you
think hypothetically that they might have asked you like, hey,
what do you want and we'll put it in there
because you and you said potato salad. I don't know.
(25:53):
I don't know. I must have really been on a
potato salad kick. I don't know this kind of they asked.
They were like, well, anything you want to Maybe maybe
they had like you can pick this egg salad or
this potato. You know, everybody would pick the potato salad,
and poor Kelly's mouth was getting potatoes. Then my question
(26:15):
was why did you dump it? Why don't you just
put the lid back on it and put it back
in the fridge. You didn't want to be tempted? Oh,
and I thought you were being nice, like, oh, I've
already eaten out of the container, so I have to
throw it away so everyone else doesn't eat it. Got
it for me if if my kid had a full
episode like that in the bedroom with the Jackie needed
(26:38):
to step in more than just be mad at you.
It was like your daughter is screaming for help with
that meltdown. Yeah, she says Kelly. She always says Kelly
the same way, can you do it for us? Please? Sorry, Kelly,
(26:58):
it's a very specific way. She says, your name, was
that right? Yeah? And then when she gets mad at you,
it's exact same, but just louder. Not Jenny, What did
you feel about your performance, because this episode was primarily
like Jenny Garth. I remember working with Bethany Rooney, the director,
(27:22):
who I really liked um, and I remember Um just
being more conscious of all the choices that I was
making and and everything, and um, I think it came
out pretty good, like it feels like there's an arc
to it, and um, I don't know, I felt pretty
(27:43):
good about the performance. I guess so good good. That
scene with David and your mom in the kitchen, I
don't know, there's one line I'm forgetting what it is
now that it's almost like you say it under your breath,
like a throwaway line, and it was just so real.
I was like, just so good, always good. Yeah, I
thought as crazy as the bedroom scene was, I thought, wow, whoa,
(28:09):
she nailed it. And then at the end with the bathroom,
the melting down to the hospital, I mean I got
very emotional, like for some reason, I don't know. Yeah,
I texted you guys, I was like, why am I
bawling watching this? Like it really And I don't know
if it was the I think it was probably your
(28:31):
performance and maybe just the emotion of it. It was
really whoa, it was, Oh I love it. That's hearts
in a great way because it was so relatable as
a woman, as a mom, as just a human like
(28:52):
and you. It was always so ground at your performance,
no matter what, and just it was. Yeah, it was
really great. Thanks guys, you're nice. Yes, we love you,
Kelly Jarth. I like it when they were sorry, you know,
when the guys were in the hallway and Steve is
talking about trying to get Brandon to go on the show,
(29:14):
and he's describing the girls that are going to be there,
it was so growdy. Yeah, I felt like I felt
like Kelly in that moment, like there's no such a
thing as perfect you have you know, It's just it
was so upsetting. It was gross. You just said grody.
By the way, I don't think I've ever even heard
(29:35):
you say that word. It was growdy to the max.
A little. I have a little bts to ask about.
That means behind the scenes, so I'm not supposed to whisper.
Pardon me, that means behind the scenes everybody. So okay,
so go back to the whispering much better. Can you
get a script like this, and specifically I'll ask Jenny
on this one, because this was a you know, Jenny centric,
(29:56):
Kelly centric. Does someone talk to you or do you
get this script and realize like, oh wow, like this
is series and you said you met with the director,
so like would you get a call like, hey, Jenny,
this is a really intense episode for Kelly. Let's talk
about it. Tell me how that goes. Yeah, I would
usually get a heads up from one of the producers
or usually one of the you know, like Jessica or
(30:21):
probably Jessica Klein would talk to me about what was
coming and and so that I could have some lead
up into it, because that that this storyline did have
that gradual slow build into this episode. So I think
I knew, definitely knew it was coming. And this this
was the one where I had more work days than
anybody else. You know, when you get a scripted, your
(30:43):
your characters in it more than anyone else, You're like,
oh my god, I don't know be working so many
hours more than Donna, you know, like it's like a lot. Yeah,
so does it require more preparation? Because I would assume, like, look,
I'm hoping that you guys will indulge me and we
can recreate the scene in the in the bedroom when
(31:04):
Kelly has her meltoun. But like, do you I mean,
obviously you have more words, but emotionally, how do you prepare? Well?
I think every actor is different, and I would say
even every role is different, but in general, for me,
I like to kind of give myself like a graph,
(31:27):
an emotional journey kind of graph to sort of like
make sure that there is a beginning, of middle and
an end because and that it builds the right way,
you know what I mean, Like so it's not just
one level and so that it's is it a graph
on paper, it's literally graph Like I will take a
paper and no draw like that, like you know, break
(31:54):
each scene down like where it is emotionally. So it
kind of because when you're shooting, you're shooting it out
of sequence and of shooting things back to back, and
it can get really confusing. So I like to go
in a little bit more prepared. Wait, no way, okay,
So like you have your graph, and it would be
like going building, building, building up, maybe coming down, going
back up, so that when you shoot the scene, you
(32:15):
look at your graph and like you're like, okay, I'm
at an emotional high point here? Am I getting that? Right? Yeah?
You want it? You can do too. I never expected
that in my whole life. So you like me, though,
I don't know if anybody else does that. I'm Tori.
What do you do on the visual, I have to
like write it out. Well, she she knows I don't
(32:39):
write notes, so she knows she does it internally. But Jimmy,
that doesn't surprise me about you because you're so like
that where you would be like, Okay, here's my emotional
heartbeat going up this graph, so that you know, and
then Tori, what would you do? Just oh my gosh,
I don't even know. Remember when we get to Donna
(33:01):
Martin graduates, I'll fill you in on all the behind
the scenes. So, Amy, now that you learned. So that
was awesome. So that's a great acting lesson. So now
next time we do an episode, you can have a journey, Amy,
an emotional journey in a build so you can start
with your whispers and by the end, well, and I
shouldn't have revealed that I cried, probably till later. I
(33:22):
almost like I gave my emotional You can in the middle, Yeah,
you can go, you can get home, you can reach
your climax right in the middle. It doesn't matter. We'll
(33:44):
keep going to my questions and then maybe we'll finish
this episode with a reenactment of one more time to
say it, one more time reenactment. It's just so excited
about it. Okay, so let's talk a little bit about
Brenda in this episode, because she's clearly sort of longing
(34:05):
for her hair in this episode. Sorry, I know her
hair is always on point. I didn't love it in
this one. Bangs were a little too short. They were
like some of this in the first thing they were
they were back and then tucked to the side, but
like not tuched to the side. It was like down.
I didn't know. I was intrigued by her longing for
(34:27):
home in this episode, and also Mrs Walsh just buttering
that bread for a good five straight minutes while she
talked about Darla. Was it Darla hand? They had such
a good relationship in that scene. I really liked it.
I felt like they were really mother and daughter for
one of the very first times, because I never really
got their connection really so far in the show, so
(34:51):
like mother daughter. I always kind of thought that Brenda
had was closer to Jim, so that that scene for
me was really sweet. Wait, is Darling Hansen going to come? No,
but a friend. What I'm remembering is that thinks about
going home for college. She really thinks about going back
(35:13):
to London. No, not London, Minnesota not yet, so I
thought that was interesting. I thought it was interesting that
she didn't want to have the party at the house
Mrs wall done. She could have right, but that she
did show up early. It was kind of lame that
(35:33):
they had at the peach Pit. I was so mad
at that. I feel disappointed. I feel responsible. It was
all on me, and I screamed let me down a
thousand percent. That's why when I read the synopsis, I
was like, peach Pit, Like I have a hundred high
school kids in their house eighteen. Well the bruisers were like, Okay,
well we got to save money, so we're gonna do
(35:55):
it at the peach Pit. Like everything at the peach
But but that really makes me sad. And I'm really
let down by Donny because it was Kelly, her best
friend's eighteenth birthday. It should have been somewhere else. Oh yeah,
that reminds me of the time my husband turned forty
and I had it in a Mexican restaurant. He will
never let me what's wrong with you. I'm not saying
(36:17):
what's wrong with it. It was Casa Vega. It was
good Harris in passage and he was just I think
it was underwhelming because it was forty. It was we
went to we just went on a birthday trip for
guy turning forty, and it was like a whole weekend
traveling yacht excursion thing, and like he was like, gosh, okay,
(36:39):
well then I'm a real asshole. Like I didn't think
the peach pit was bad. I did think it was
interesting that Michael Cutlitz is suddenly Kelly's best friend. Kelly
is going to be here in two minutes everybody, and
then everyone collapsed. I was liked, be surprising to you.
It's nine two one o. This is how they do it,
because they hated these guys five minutes ago was making
(37:00):
his move on Prince On Brenda Cutlins was really like, yeah,
they gotta make it happen. They got to start. At
least they started it now in anticipation to the prompt.
Good for them they started. They didn't just spring it
on that right, right right right? Sorry, no, no, no, no, no,
you're good. And then I did think that that it
(37:21):
was Brenda at the end at the hospital was important. Yeah,
that must have been so hard for Brenda, Like just
going to the party in general, I just was a
little unrealistic that she was there, Yeah, and that I
don't know. It just felt like if I had been
hurt the way she was hurt, I wouldn't have been
(37:43):
like at the party. But listen, if she didn't go,
she couldn't have found you, and that would have been
it for you. She could have found me in the
bathroom in the perfect absolutely perfect, perfect perfectly perfectly perfect
passed out. Yeah. Now, if I was the producer on
the show, I gotta tell you, guys, I would have
(38:06):
left it right on Kelly and left it like that
would have been the end of the episode to be consider. Yeah. Right,
so cliffhanger, I guess we weren't really cliffhangers. We were
we did cliffhangers. We did a cliffhanger with Dylan's dad
blowing up in the car. But when you don't know
(38:26):
what that would happen, you're so right, that is the
perfect opportunity. Felt like an end of an episode, like,
oh my gosh, then we come back and we see
what happens, like it was disappointed they should have resulted
with you. That's kind of true. That would have been
kind of juicy. Now, okay, can we talk about Jordan
Bonner and Andrea because I love the very key ugly
(38:48):
but doesn't it feel like we missed something like it
jumped every dating period, like they get to know you.
I think, I like, you literally went from meeting at
that party to a couple of facts is to being
fully together. But yet they like it's almost like they
shot twenty scenes and they got cut. I thought the
(39:08):
same thing. Maybe they did. We should ask Gab. So weird,
but it was so weird that his hand was on
her arm, like rubbing her arm, and I was like,
what why is he doing that? Like stop touching her?
It wasn't let them kiss, They won't let them go.
So they were being as affectionate as they could. Yeah,
(39:29):
and he's in enough that he is at the hospital
and that he's like Steve, buddy, there come this way,
like he's in with the group. Right, he should have
stayed in. He should have stayed with the group. I
really like his character other than his bad fashion shirt.
I totally agree. But maybe he was going to but
then he told us because Gab about Pregnan in real life,
(39:51):
they stopped the storyline. Damn that baby, Yeah, it should
have been his baby. Oh my god, that would have
been so cool. Would I mean? I love Mark Espinoza.
It's not that he was He's always been amazing, but
that would have been so good. It made sense. It
was a little It does feel like I missed twenty
(40:12):
scenes literally, like wait, how did But it was cute
seeing Andrea snuggle with somebody like that. Yeah, I gotta
say her green blazer was my favorite in the episode.
What what you know? I'm not a Blazer fan, but
her it's our favorite green and it was. I loved it.
(40:36):
It was very smart looking, the sunflower dress. It was
the best in that Yes, oh my god, that dress
is great. You should I wish you wish that dress
that one, Okay, anyone out there, if you okay, if
you have it, I was gonna go big. But yes,
if you haven't, let us know. But if you know
who made that dress. Sometimes people know who the designers
are that we would like to know. Let us know. Um.
(40:59):
I did love Brenda's even though I didn't like her
hair in the scene in school, like the flowey like sleeves, yeah, sleeves. Yeah?
Was that what she was wearing to the party. I'm
trying to remember what she wore at the party. She
were all black to the party. H she was morning.
But then Kelly survived and I was kidding. Cool, but
(41:22):
I actually, yeah, I think the sunflower was better. I
felt like that when when at the end of the
show when Brenda's talking to her at the hospital bed
and Kelly says to her, in fact, I didn't die,
so you can't have Dylan back. I was like, oh,
too soon. Yeah, why did you get that line? That's
(41:43):
my favorite line? Wait, she was she's on through a lot.
Was it a joke? Yeah, she was joking. Okay, yeah,
they're kind of playing right. Oh. I sort of think
I glossed over that my tears. Oh girl, So here's
my question. Too. Y was very flowy with the money
for the party, but yet they're still in the house again.
(42:06):
I don't understand. Very confusing. We haven't seen mel and
he com back. He was only his contracts had seven
out of twenty two episodes, so sorry, he's not in
this episode. He's coming back. He's coming back. Uh, let
me see if there's anything else that I have to
(42:27):
ask you guys. Oh, can I tell you one fashion
thing real quick? Just because I didn't know? Okay, so
you know how like one day goes on forever in
this episode, like it literally like and I was so
mad at that outfite on. But I have a silver clip,
remember the clips, like the little clips. Oh, I forgot
this the podcast, so I'll keep going. Um anyway, I
(42:49):
that was my own and I didn't know I wore
it in the show, but I saw it. I was like,
there she is. I still haven't. It's my favorite thing.
I thought it was just my thing in real life,
like it's a good luck thing. I don't know. I
was trying to find it today and now I can't
find it. Now I'm freaking out that it's gone. But
it's so worn off that it's pink underneath and there's
barely any silver left the right. It was some cheap
(43:13):
I don't know, but here it is good luck and
I'm really freaking out that it's gone. I was trying
to find it in this episode. Now it's gone the
loost in my black hole of my house. You know, wait,
one more question. You you make a comment that your
mom's idea of a good birthday party is a cake
shaped in the number with the number of the year,
and then you do you bring a cake shaped like
(43:33):
an eighteen because sometimes, I mean a lot of the
times we turned into our parents and we don't mean to,
and it's okay. So what I took from that I noticed.
But what I took from it is that's family tradition
that her mom has done for her whole life. So
it's like tradition, like me saying I want to take
my left pinky and smear through Kelly's name on the cake,
(43:55):
like my mom did that, and we open did that
growing up. So I think it was that that was
a loving thing. It was I would say, before we go,
I have an important question for the both of you. Yea,
how far do you like to go on the first date?
Santa Barbara? The first answer yet so good? You go
(44:21):
up to San Francisco, don't you tour? That's lies, that's north,
that's not fine. Now both of us haven't been our
first date in so many years. It's who knows, different
times now, who knows. I don't know what the rules are. Yeah, hello,
you're this single lady. Yeah I got a guy. I'm
(44:44):
just not married to him. But well where is he?
Very confusing for me because what I do? Jen? Did
you know this? Oh? Why keep oh, breaking it down
now she chooses to whisper. Okay, go on. What I
like to do is date somebody in college and then
I go back to them twenty years later. That's that's
(45:07):
what happened. And pattern you've done it more than once.
Oh yeah, I've done about six times. Wait him in college,
your current boyfriend or just after college. Yeah, and the
boyfriend boyfriend before this one I kissed in college, did
not see for twenty years, and then dated for a year.
(45:29):
So that's kind of my move. Yeah, I go back
to the ones that. Yeah, it's kind of brilliant because
you weren't evolved enough to be ready for them then,
but now it's a different story. So you could either
go back to them now. And it's not right to
be patient completely be patient because they back around to
be patient because they typically get married, so you have
to wait it out till they get divorced. But it
(45:50):
does happen here inspired by the true life, and yeah,
and it's the movie is called Dipping Back into the
well what we call it joke right now? No, it's
totally it's completely serious and it's actually a thing. A
lot of people that get divorced, what are you talking
about this is real, h totally real, not being funny.
(46:13):
A lot of people when they get divorced, date someone
they knew in high school or college, and usually they
like but like seek them out and see where they
are and how to like reconnect on Facebook or like
whatever it is. But yeah, for me, I bumped into
wanted a football game, like a cow college football game,
and then this one. I think there was like a
(46:34):
random text, yeah we hear more about this later, or
like over drinks one night, thank you. This just happened.
This just happened to me. Recently. There was a couple
at a restaurant that we're eating and I was like,
so I was with my friend Mandrew Patrick, and we
were like trying to call it like first date. We couldn't.
(46:55):
So he asked them and they said, oh, we actually
were each other's first in high school. Haven't seen each
other in five years, and we happened to be in
the same city and I saw her on Instagram that
she was here and connected with her and now they're
there and they they think it's going to work out. Yeah,
something I didn't invent it. I didn't invent it. Well,
(47:17):
let's pretend you did because you're a genius. My brother
got married to his high school sweetheart late late late. Yeah,
I love it, but it does work, and I usually
stick in one fraternity and sometimes too there's two fraternity.
I love this so to bring it all back, you know,
(47:40):
so happy for Brian and Sharna, they just had their baby.
I'm happily married. But if it ever doesn't work out
years later, the twenty years from now, Brian, I can
always go back there. You go, that's right, Well you're
gonna have to wait twenty more years. Yeah, you can
do it in your golden years, like, yeah, I'm are.
We always talked about being in rocking chairs instead of
(48:02):
so I'm kicking you to the curb and sticking Brian there.
But we'll be together until like maybe like had a
hundred for my hundredth birthday? Will you bring me a
hundred cookie cake? And Brian austin green, yes, and a
huge pack of diapers for us. It does make it
confusing to know how far you go on a first date, though,
because you're like, is this a first date or is
(48:24):
this a twentieth date? Because if you're like, you don't know,
so you're just like, true, I guess we just do
what we want. Wow, well that's something to think about people. Uh.
And on that note, and on that note, next week's
episode is Senior Pole. Whoa senior pole? Like a pole
(48:45):
like boys get directions? Senior citizens home, taking it back
my hundredth birthday. On that note, I love you guys
with wh
