Speaker 1 (00:06):
There was a report by an insider over the weekend
about the Minnesota Vikings and a current situation that was
straight fire and straight controversial.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
After the Minnesota Vikings have.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Had a fourteen and three season, and we're gonna address
that in a little bit, but first I want to
talk about some other things in the NFL right now,
because there are some interesting nuggets that need to be
talked about on Sunday. Real quick, hang with me, this
is going to be fun and fast. The Tapa Bay

(00:48):
Buccaneers up twenty seven nineteen over the Saints. They win
and they're in get the ball with about thirty something
seconds left Neil game over. But Mike Evans is three
or four yards away from his eleventh straight one thousand
yard season, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers purposely run a

(01:13):
pass play which could have quite frankly put their team
in a devastating situation. Fumble over the snap, interception, who
knows what could have happened, fumble by the player, sack,
fumble whatever. They're up against the Saints. This is for

(01:33):
the divisional crown. The Falcons ended up losing, so it
didn't matter, but at this point that game wasn't over
yet and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers run an offensive play,
get Mike Evans the ball he had curses the eleventh
straight one thousand yard season, and he gets a three
million dollars incentive boost for hitting that incentive. That's just cool.

(02:00):
That's a fun story. That's a cool story. How many
NFL teams would have done that to get Mike Evans,
a player that's played in Tampa Bay's entire career, so
won a Super Bowl there, He's been a great player there,
and he gets and added three million dollars for getting
over one thousand yards.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
That's just cool. It's risky if it backfired.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
We're talking about a head coach that could potentially be
fired right now if that backfired and the Falcons won.
But it didn't, so that was cool. The next thing
I wanted to talk about real quick the Dallas Cowboys
cheerleader in the Cowboys. Who did they play? Cowboys? I

(02:48):
can't remember who they played? They lost again, Trey Lance
got to start Cowboys. Why can't I think of the
team commanders one of the team. I think it was
the kicking off the ball and the cheerleader gets drilled

(03:08):
right in the back of the head without even knowing it.
That's gonna status of a part Oh boy, Randon Aubrey
again with the penalty. The ball was spotted at the
fifty and he's still gonna boot it out of bounce.
They're gonna somehow give great field position at the forty
yard line to Washington.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Here cameraman tried to deflect.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
It, hopefully all right, fell in the shelter, who.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Runs my fever and first out he's just smiling outs
Those k balls are no joke I told you about.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
That had to hurt. And the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader was smiling.
I'm sure she had some tears in her eyes that
had I would have. When you're on national television, it's
amazing just how tough you can be and your full
face is revealed and just tough.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Dallas Cowboys cheet there is tough.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
But I'm sure she's got a big bruiser apple on
the back of her head this morning. He stands up,
doesn't even know it's coming, can't even embrace for.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
It, just bunk run off the back of the head.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
So those are two cool moments that I saw on
Sunday that I wanted to address, but As far as
this controversial report it has to do about Minnesota Vikings
head coach Kevin O'Connell. Jay Glazer one of the great insiders.
This guy has fantastic information. He's always right, and he

(04:34):
had this report to share about Minnesota Vikings head coach
Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
There is one candidate out there that's gonna surprise you
all that no one knows is on list, and he
is that candidate, Bill Belichick. Kevin O'Connell. There are multiple
teams that actually are considering trying to trade for Kevin

(05:00):
O'Connell and the reason why next year, the last year
of his deal, had no contract talks yet at all.
And look, if you're a team after it's saying why
not take a shot, see if we can do it.
Maybe the Vikings don't let it happen. But also Kevin
O'Connell kind of has the card saying, hey, listen, I'm
not going to resign there, so you might as well
get something for me.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I don't know, because obviously I don't think Kevin knows
about this right now, but there are multiple teams who
have them on that board to say, let's at least
try and see if we can train.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And I gotta say, if youre Kevin O'Connell's success he's had,
you're surprised they haven't locked him down, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
I think he was surprised. Yeah, whatever it takes in
a trade, I think you trade for him. He's worth it.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
He's definitely worth it. Great views there, Yeah, thank you.
Let's see what happens there, all right, you know.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Now, a little background.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
The only reason why this is even a possible report
is because Kevin O'Connell and the Minnesota Vikings have not
yet signed their contract extension.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Next year will be his final year of his.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Contract, but this offseason a contract will get done and
he will be the long term head coach for the
Minnesota Vikings for a long long time, and he will
be paid like a top five NFL coach. Now, as
far as the report goes, I'm sure he's right. I'm
sure teams are calling the Minnesota Vikings to see if

(06:17):
they can get their hands on Kevin O'Connell. This is
the exact same thing as JJ McCarthy that Adam Schefter
reported last week on ESPN Radio. He said teams will
call the Minnesota Vikings about JJ McCarthy, it's a non story.
Teams call other teams all the time about players that
could potentially be available. That is literally their job. It

(06:42):
is not the Minnesota Vikings job to make players available,
but it is team's job to check in to see
if players or coaches are available. There's a massive difference
between a team calling this see if a player is
available or a coach and that coach or player actually

(07:06):
being available. And when a report says teams are interested
in trading for Kevin O'Connell, teams are interested in trading
for JJ McCarthy, big deal. Your point, Are the Minnesota
Vikings interested in getting rid of Kevin O'Connell or JJ

(07:27):
McCarthy And the answer is no. Tom Pelisaro of NFL
Network just reported the other day that the Minnesota Vikings
will not be trading JJ McCarthy. Of course they're not.
Obviously they're not. Are teams interested in McCarthy, Yes? Are
the Minnesota Vikings gonna trade McCarthy.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
No. And it's the exact same thing with Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Of course, teams that are looking for a head coach
want Kevin O'Connell. He's thirty four I'm seventeen with the
Minnesota Vikings. Kirk Cousins first year, thirteen and four, Minnesota
Vikings second year, They're rolling Cousin Serius's Achilles. Vikings are
still hot. Josh Jobs comes in, is dob standy. Things
are looking bright, then things fall off seven and ten,

(08:17):
and this season with Sam Darnold, a guy that's failed
in every single place he's been fourteen to three.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Of course, any NFL team that doesn't.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Have Andy Reid will want Kevin O'Connell as a head coach.
So I see these reports and it's like, is available, no,
Do teams want them?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (08:40):
So this report looks a lot more intimidating or even
fancy than the truth. The truth is the Minnesota Vikings
will sign Kevin o'callen to a contract extension this offseason
and he will be in Minnesota for the long term.
The Minnesota Vikings got their hand on a quarterback, a whisperer,

(09:02):
and an offensive genius. Even against the Detroit Lions, where
receivers were running a wide open all day, Darnald just
did not execute or throw the ball to them in
the red zone. So this report I'm sure is true,
But you got to understand where the report is coming from.
The report is coming from other teams that want Kemn O'Connell,

(09:25):
not the Minnesota Vikings themselves. You got to understand the source,
just like Justin Jefferson last offseason, you know, Charlie Walter's
of Pioneer Presence coming out and saying the Vikings were,
you know, thinking about.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Dealing Justin Jefferson. It's not true.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Teams wanted Justin Jefferson, but the Minnesota Vikings were not
dealing Justin Jefferson. They were working on a contract extension
which eventually got done. So many mountains get made out
of a molehill because there's so much speculation, And the
problem with speculation is that there's multiple sides to it

(10:04):
and it needs to be sorted through. We need to
dive into it and actually digest what it means and
not just take this.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Report for truth.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Sure, it's true teams want O'Connell, but when you digest
it and you look into it a little bit more,
this report is coming from other teams. This report is
not coming from the Minnesota Vikings organization. The Timberwolves would
love Lebron James at twenty seven years old. Of course,
there could be a report every single day if teams

(10:38):
wanted it. The Minnesota Vikings would be interested in trading
for Patrian Mahomes. It's the exact same thing, but a
bigger name. The Minnesota Vikings would be interested in Tom
Brady and his prime. It's the exact same thing. The
Patriots aren't getting rid of Tom Brady in his prime.
The Chiefs aren't getting rid of Mahomes now. So it's

(11:01):
the exact same thing, but a different name. So when
I see stuff like this and I see people react
to it, they don't react from both sides. They react
to the report and they see the exciting report. And
I'm sure the report is true, because who wouldn't want
Kevin O'Connell. But what about the truth from the Minnesota Vikers.
Respective They're not getting rid of occonnell, they're not getting

(11:24):
rid of McCarthy.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So that's my take.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Thank you for watching this episode, Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I hope we're doing all right.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
And Mike Evans, congratulations on a three million dollars incentive,
well deserved, all right, appreciate you hit that subscribe button,
and thank you for going on this podcasting, Journey with
