Speaker 2 (00:18):
In your feet throughout the week.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
The Minnesota Timberwolves lost Game two to the Los Angeles
Lakers ninety four eighty five, and we're about to dive
into it. What went wrong for the Timberwolves, what could
have gone right?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And I'm going to compare.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
This game to a fictional television character that I was
reminded of last night. So stick with me. We're going
to dive into it. But first I need to tell
you about our amazing bathroom or model by five Star
bath Solutions of Minneapolis. My wife and I needed a

(00:56):
bathroom model done badly. We had a moldy bathroom. We
had an ugly bathroom. We had a bathroom made for
the elderly. If I'm just being one hundred percent honest.
There was a step going into the shower.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
That we didn't like.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
There were hand bars, handrails everywhere in the bathroom that
was causing mold because the water was seeping through it,
and we didn't like it. So we signed out wrong
button so something needed to be done, and I found
some quotes from other people. Yeah, this project can be
done in six weeks. This project can be done in

(01:34):
eight weeks. And I didn't like that. We didn't all
want to dive into the same bathroom for six weeks
in the tiny one downstairs. So I found five Star
Baths Solutions of Minneapolis, and they transformed our bathroom in
two days. It took them forty eight hours to get

(01:56):
the bathroom of our dreams. So if you want to
double sink in their vanity, a new updated vanity, new flooring,
new tub, new.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Shower, new surround.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Our house was immediately updated and we had our bathroom
back in two days. Five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis
will get the job done right, and it will get
the job done conveniently for you. You gotta check them out.

(02:30):
So the Timberwolves they lost ninety four to eighty five.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
What went right for the Wolves? Well?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
In game one, the Lakers, with two sensational offensive talents
Luka Doncic and Lebron James, only scored ninety five points.
In Game two, the Los Angeles Lakers with Luka Doncic

(03:00):
and Lebron James only scored ninety four points.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
So as much as.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
The national media wants to tell you that Luka Doncic
is taking Rudy Gobert to school on every single offensive possession,
it's just not true.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
The Timberwolves defense.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Has been elite versus the Lakers in the first two games,
and there is really no argument that it hasn't been.
And here's a stat that I see online from Jack
Borman is a Wolves links analyst, a data analyst or

(03:53):
prep network and he used to write for Cannis hoopis
when shooting against Rudy Gobert tonight, Luca Nantic two points,
one for four, Lebron James zero points, zero for four.
Rudy Gobert is holding up defensively. And even though the

(04:16):
Los Angeles crowd goes crazy and Sports Center will post
every single video of Lucas scoring on Rudy Gobert, Rudy
Gobert is holding up defensively against the two best players
on the Lakers, and it is seen by that stat,

(04:39):
and it is also seen by the scoreboard. The Lakers
have not scored ninety six points yet in either Game
one or Game two of this series, and a part
of me wonders if it's just a matter of time
until they score one hundred plus points and make it
tougher on the Timberwolves, because the likelihood isn't that they're

(05:03):
not gonna score one hundred points. They're gonna score one
hundred points in the series.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
They're two good they're.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Sensational offensive talents, and that's just the way it's going
to be. But so far in this series, the Timberwolves
defense has been elite. Now when I look at the
box score, and you could see this throughout the game,
Julius Randall played great twenty seven points, six assists, one steal,
one block. He brought the physicality, he brought the toughness,

(05:33):
and he kept the Timberwls in it in the first
half when the Lakers could have gone up forty and
Randall was the only thing going for the Timberwls offensively.
Anthony Edwards ten for twenty two, two for eight from
the three point line, twenty five points, six rebounds. But

(05:53):
the stat that jumps out to me from Edwards, he
had zero assists last night. You compare that to Game one,
and Edwards had nine assists. Now, that can be because
of a few factors. Factor one, a Lakers adjustment. The

(06:13):
Timberwolves did not have as many open threes as they
did in Game one, and the Lakers defensive intensity was
about eighty percent more than it was in Game one,
and you could see that from the opening tip. And
as they got tired, the Timberwolves started to get back
in the game, and that's what you saw.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
But here's the story of the game.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Jada McDaniels, Mike Conley, Dante DiVincenzo, Nikhil Alexander Walker, and
nas Red.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Their combined.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Field goal makes. McDaniels had three, Conley had zero, nas
Reed had three, the Vincenzo had one, and Nikile Alexander
Walker had won. They combined to make eight field goals
in this ballgame.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
And then you.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Combine that with how many shots they missed. McDaniels missed eleven,
Conley missed five, Naz Reid missed eight, the Vincenzo missed four,
and Nikil Alexander Walker missed six. So you put all

(07:35):
of those things together and how many shots that they
made eight field goal attempts and they missed twenty seven
or so eleven plus five is sixteen. That's worse than that.

(07:55):
Plus eight is twenty four. Plus four is twenty eight
plus six is thirty four. They went eight for thirty
four combined from the field, and Minnesota relies heavily on
some of those players making an offensive impact. Every single

(08:18):
team does. And Game one, the Timberwolves went twenty one
for forty two from.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
The three point line.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Game two five for twenty five.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
And I saw some reaction after.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Game one, Oh, you know, Timberwolves could replicate this performance.
They won't shoot as good, but they could still shoot
it basically and still win.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
And my reaction to that.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Is, the law of averages always wins. Twenty one for
forty two in the first game from the three point line,
Game two, five for twenty five from the three point
line twenty percent. The Timberwolves dropped thirty percentage points in

(09:10):
their three point percentage from Game one to Game two.
And what's so frustrating about this performance is that.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
The Lakers only scored ninety four points.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
All it took was scoring ninety five points to win
this basketball game, and the Timberwolves could not make a
shot and they had open looks. How many corner threes, well,
he had three, he went over three. McDaniels had three
corner threes, just wide open but not knocking him them down.

(09:48):
Conley been knocked down a shot. Don de de Vincenzo
was in foul trouble the entire game. Naz Reed also
in foul trouble, made one to three. Nikil Alexander Walker
couldn't make a shot either. So players the Timberwolves heavily
rely on to knock down some shots couldn't knock down anything,

(10:10):
and that's the story of the game. And the Timberwolves
try to make a late push, but they just couldn't
quite get there because again when they were down nine
with about six minutes left, they could not knock down
any shots. Edwards had a three on the wing, couldn't
knock it down to cut it to six. McDaniels had

(10:30):
a three, nos Reid had a three, just couldn't make him.
And that happens. The Timberwolves weren't not going to sweep
the Lakers in the series, but after the first two games,
we have legitimate belief that the Timberwolves can indeed win
this series in six games because of how they've played

(10:55):
defensively and because of how they've played offensively, they're not
going to replicate Game one, but hopefully they're not going
to replicate Game two either. So the goal is to
go back to Target Center on Friday and win. That's

(11:16):
how that works. But as far as which fictional TV
character that's reminded me of, in the movie Forrest Gump,
there's a scene where Forrest is on his boat, shrimp
boat Campton, and he is coming to deck, is coming,

(11:43):
is coming ashore, and he sees Lieutenant Dan standing he's paralyzed,
sitting in his wheelchair on the dock, and he waves to.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Him, goes with a big smile.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
And swims out the shore as his boat runs into
another dock. And that is the law of averages waving
to the Timberwolves roster, Hey I'm back, don't forget about me.
I'm the law of averages. So as great as the

(12:29):
Timberwolves offensive performance was in game one, the law of
average has bit him in the butt. They came back
to life and they could not knock down a three
in Game two. A part of it is due to
the Lakers defensive intensity, but a big part is also
due to the Timberwolves inability to knock down any shots.

(12:53):
And Edwards wasn't terrible in this ballgame, twenty five points,
six rebounds, no steals, no blocks, no assists. But this
was a game where you wish Edwards turned it up
a little bit more. On the prowl on X sent

(13:14):
out a tweet that I completely agree with. They said
ant scored two points in the fourth quarter. That's pretty pathetic.
He had twenty five and six in the game, but
you need more from your star on the fourth He's
not the reason we lost. The bench was, but just
need more in the clutch from someone viewed as a

(13:34):
top seven player in the league.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
And my response was, you're right. Role players aren't.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Going to show up every night, especially on the road,
and when that happens, your best players like Anthony Edwards
need to reach another level to lift their team to
a win. That's what the Timberwolves were missing from Edwards
last night. We missed Edwards taking his game to another

(14:06):
level at the rim and at the three point line
to make up for the inability to knock down shots
from the bench, or from Jaden McDaniels or from Mike
Conley because the bench just wasn't there, and the bench
isn't going to be there some games, and when that happens,

(14:27):
your superstar players need to reach a new height, a
new level and put their team on the back performance
to win the ball game or get their team back
in a ball game. And for Edwards to only score
two points in the fourth quarter when the Timberwlves outscored

(14:49):
the Lakers twenty to thirteen in the fourth quarter, that's
tough because we just needed a little bit more from
Edwards words for the Timberwolves to make this a real
competitive game down the.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Stretch, and they just couldn't do it.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Speaking of love averages, the Wild one last night five
to two after losing Game one four to two. So
another example of the love average is biting a team
in the butt or giving a team a boost. The
Wild score five points in game two after only scoring
two points or two goals in Game one. Thought that

(15:34):
was a good story the Wild one last night, but
timber Rols lost Game two on Friday at Target Center.
