Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey there, folks. It is Wednesday, September seventeenth. A body
found in the trunk of a car earlier this month,
and that car was registered to a singer considered one
of the brightest young stars in music. That body has
now been identified as that of a fifteen year old girl,

(00:23):
and with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. Rose.
The singer is David. The story has been percolating for
a couple of weeks. Today this new development, it sounds
like this story is now starting to roll a different direction.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Perhaps that's correct because the missing person has now been identified.
TMZ is reporting that the missing person has been identified
as fifteen year old Celeste Revs Hernandez. That is who
we now believe was inside the trunk of David's Tesla

(01:10):
that was impounded.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
So to get you all caught up here and robe
to be honest, I wasn't familiar with David. I wasn't
familiar with David or his music, but he is wildly
popular online. We said it to any of our daughters
and they immediately jumped. No matter if the youngest we
have in house is twelve, she immediately knows who this
guy is and what's going on. But he, like I
think a number of singers can credit their success to

(01:34):
viral videos, TikTok.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
TikTok and gaming. He didn't. He wanted to basically put
things up on TikTok because he's a big gamer. But
he couldn't use music that was copyrighted, so he used
his own. He started making his own music and it
caught on, it went viral, and now he's signed with
a record company, he's on a world tour. I mean,
big things have happened to him very quickly.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
What was it you said, You've been doing more of
a deep dive on his background and whatnot. But what
was the publication that actually said he was that name
of number one? A couple of years ago.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
It was Billboard magazine. This isn't just any old rag.
This is a big deal in the music industry. So
Billboard magazine had him at the top twenty one under
twenty one, and he was number one. He was eighteen
when they did the big interview with him. But yeah,
they discussed him as this big rising star. I talked

(02:31):
about how he grew up singing in church, how his
parents were always there by his side and supporting him
and rooting him on. His sister gave him the idea
to create his own music to put up on TikTok
so sounded like this, and he very well. Maybe this
wholesome kid who came from a great family who supported
him and his music career is literally taking off. He's

(02:52):
twenty years old. Well he's still he's twenty years old.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Old, okay, so, and he's successful right now, folks, he's
on tour as millions and millions of listeners every single
month online. That stream storygo September eighth, Los Angeles impound lot.
They get a call police do about a foul odor,
and they show up and sure enough, there's a body
in the trunk. Now, I have read several reports and

(03:17):
some of you, but from the most part for what
I recognized robes the body was not in good shape.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
They said, actually that the body was not intact. That
was how they described it. So it was interesting. They
didn't say dismembered, they didn't say decapitated. They just said
not intact. They said that it had been decomposing for
quite some time, So it didn't just happen in the
last few days. This body had been there for a while.
And they described the body basically by the clothing. They

(03:45):
said it was going to take a while for them
to be able to identify the body because of the
significant amount of decomposition. But she had a tube top on,
and they also said she had black, wavy hair, and
they said she had a tattoo on her finger and
it said on her index finger, and so that was
a very distinguishing thing on her body and they were

(04:08):
trying to they were hoping that would help them identify her.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
And that turns out to be another significant part of
this story that we will get into in just a moment.
But Robe, it struck me at the time, and you
and I were debating because we've seen the story out
there for a while, and David has been on a
world tour. He has been touring, I believe currently on
the West coast, Yes, the US, yes, right now. But
when the story first broke, did he not go on

(04:34):
stage that night?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I think he continued he was somewhere else, but he
continued to perform.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
He has continued to perform, and he has not made
a public comment. His spokesperson has only told the media
that he is fully cooperating with police in the investigation.
But that's the only acknowledgment that he or his team
has even made about this story. But today the story
just got very real, very dark, now that we're learning

(05:02):
this body was a fifteen year old girl. This body
was badly decomposed. This body was of a young girl who,
according to her mother told TMZ, had a boyfriend named David.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
So the young lady is fifteen years old. Again, remind you,
the car was only there for two days at the
impound lot. Badly decomposed body, so only the assumption can
be made the body had this person had been dead
for quite some time. You also pointed out robe. So
have we said yet this young lady had been missing
for quite some time.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Her mother said that she had been missing for over
a year, and in fact, you can go online and
see there is a missing person poster that was circulating
about her. But she was last seen April fifth, twenty
twenty four. They described her as five three, one hundred
and twenty pounds and they said she was thirteen. I mean,
that is missing. That is heartbreaking. So she's turned fifteen,

(05:58):
so it has been about a year and a half
give her to that she's been missing and her mom
told TMZ that as soon as they described that it
was a young it was a woman, black wavy hair,
and when they said the tattoo, the tattoo on her
index finger, she said she was sure it was her daughter.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Okay, so at least police right now have not put
out an official cause of death. The car again, they say,
is a registered to David Anthony Burke. Stage name David,
And if you're not familiar, we're saying David. But he
spells his name in a unique, very now kind of way.
I guess that's what the kids do.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
I thought his name was deforvid because it's d well.
I mean a lot of people I think of a
certain age would absolutely think that because it is spelled
D four VD. So isn't that deforvid? It was. It
was quite It's David.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
That morning was quite interesting going back and forth and
hearing you continuing to call him that. But but yes,
he goes by stage name of David. We mentioned a
moment ago Robes and this is something TMZ again pointed
out and is on top of the story, pointed out
the tattoo that the young lady has, says on the

(07:13):
right index finger, I believe he just says, shush, She's
not the only one who has it.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
David has the exact same tattoo on his right index finger,
and so that is a link that a lot of
folks are pointing to right now. Also, of note, the
Tesla that she was found in, which is registered to David,
has a Texas license plate. He lives in Houston, Texas
at least that's his hometown, and it was never reported stolen.

(07:42):
That is a very significant fact.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Now. I saw some I can't remember much publication, and
I apologize because I do want to give them proper attribution.
But I saw us telling them that they wanted to
point out that he has several cars registered to him.
You saw this as well. You're checking your head so
trying to point out just because this car is registered
to him, it does not mean he was driving it
or anywhere near it, or even knew this young lady.

(08:07):
It doesn't at all. But Robes it seems at this
point he is now taking this, in my opinion, with
the type of seriousness he should have taken maybe in
the first place. I was shocked when he kept performing
knowing this story was out there, not coming out, and oh,

(08:27):
my god, my heart goes out to this family and
this young lady. I'm sorry, I'll help any way I can.
Instead silence and going on as if nothing has happened.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
That was disturbing. And of course any laurier would tell
you not to get out and make a statement, but
you could say at least something I can't give, I
can't get specific. I just want to let you know
that I had nothing to do do with this, or
at least just say something and say your heart goes
out to whoever the family members are of this person
found in your car. You are working with police to
figure out how this could have possibly happened. So what

(08:58):
innocent human beings doems like even if you were trying
to be careful and legally protect yourself, if you were innocent,
you would still know saying nothing would be a sign
of being somehow involved or having some knowledge that you
wouldn't want people to know about. I mean it just
it's not a good look.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
And let's be clear here, there is no one has
suggested there. Police haven't identified a suspect of any kind.
They even came back and apologized for even suggestion this
might be a homicide when they first started this case.
So there is no one officially suggesting that this was
a homicide and that they are looking for a killer
out there on the loose, or that David would even

(09:37):
be a suspect. No one is saying that, and no
one should suggest that. The only thing now robes I
think that elevates the story for me at least, is
that he is canceling shows, is that he is now
taking a step back from the spotlight. He is now
looking at the story differently, perhaps from a pr standpoint,

(09:59):
or anybody can speculate what else might be going on.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yes, that is a significant development that just happened. He
was scheduled to go on at eight pm tonight in Seattle.
He had a show. People bought tickets, and it now
appears he has canceled that show. He has by doing so,
put his worldwide tour on pause. We don't know what
will come in the following days and his other schedule shows.

(10:24):
No one has mentioned anything beyond tonight. But that is
a significant development that he has canceled his show this evening.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
And also there are some people out there who do
business with him who are certainly taking this seriously and
second guessing whether or not they should be in business
with him at all. All right, we continue now here

(10:52):
on Amy and TJ with singer David Now canceling shows
after news came that the body found in the back
of a car registered to him has been now identified
as a fifteen year old girl who has been missing
for a year and a half. Who want to make
sure we're clear here rose this. No one is suggesting

(11:13):
he was near this car. No one is suggesting he
had anything to do with it. Police aren't suggesting he's
a suspect. They've already been saying this is a homicide.
What they are saying right now is they found this body,
they know who it is, and they know the car
at least is registered to him.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
They're trying to determine a cause of death right now,
but because of the decomposition, it's incredibly difficult. So it
is going to take a while for them to see
if they can figure out manner of death, because that
will be important. But I would argue, I don't understand
how you could possibly end up in a trunk not
intact and it not be homicide. So I just let's

(11:53):
just be let's just call it call it what it
is it's so set.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
What was going on in this young lady's life. You know,
somebody thirteen years old went missing? Is someone looking for her? Right?
Did somebody care enough about her?

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Her mom did? Her mom had missing posters? Her mom
hadn't circulated.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Everywhere she really I didn't realize.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Oh, yes, there were missing posters on her if you
look it up, her mom had them circulated, that she
put them up around town. She was begging anyone with
any information.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
For a year and a half.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Yes, she's been April fifth, twenty twenty three, that is
the day she was last seen and her mom had
flyers up her mom was looking for She was.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Thirteen years old at the time. She would have been
fifteen years old. Now, oh that's tough. So yeah, So David,
I was mentioning before that. I was. I was surprised
that he continued with his world tour, and I believe
even performed the day the news broke that the body
was found again in a car registered to him only.

(12:51):
But other folks that he's in business with took note
of this and took it very seriously. Even before the
identity of this.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yeah, it was a little bit. It was last week
so he you know, again, this is a twenty year
old rising star, alternative star. In fact, he is one
of the first in the genre. He did a big
article with Billboard talking about how people don't believe he's
black when they listen to him, and then they say, oh, wow,
you're black. So he considered himself kind of a pioneer
in that genre and alternative alternative rock, alternative music, and

(13:25):
he was on his way up. Yes, he got a
big deal, a big campaign with Hollister and Crocs, So
he was modeling hoodies and sweatpants and crocs for all
for Hollister until September ninth, just about a little over
a week ago. They severed ties with him when it
was connected hit that body and was in his car.

(13:46):
They replaced him.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
They did it on the ninth.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
They did it on the ninth, so they replaced him
with another model. So all of his ads, all of
the videos, everything, he is no longer a part of them.
So we don't have any details about what transpired between them,
but it is very clear you do not see David
modeling for Hollister anymore period as of September ninth.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
That's probably the right thing to do. And just to wait,
to take a pause and see what's going on. I mean,
it's I think the lack and you spoke from a
legal standpoint, and it's one of those things Robes that
we learned a lesson about nothing to this type of
seriousness of a situation. But when you don't speak for yourself,

(14:35):
people fill in.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
The holes and they assume the worst.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
And if people are assuming the worst, as details continue
to come out, this is I mean, he's got to
some point say something. He's benefit of the doubt in police.
Nobody's saying anything.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
But well, he was still performing and that's what was
deeply concerning. And now that he is not, now that
he has canceled his concept for tonight, that is certainly significant.
But it is important to know the song that really
sent him up the charts, that put his name on
the radar was a song that actually has a very
disturbing title and some really concerning lyrics that people are

(15:14):
now looking into and even making fun of or making
a joke about the possibility that he could possibly be
a part of, or have something to do with this
young lady's death because the name of his.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Song is Romantic Homicide. The song was a few years old,
twenty twenty two. It says when it was released, it's
a very short song as far as the lyrics go,
not a lot of course and whatnot. But yeah, this
was pointed out to us by Sabine, who was watching

(15:50):
and looking around online about what people were talking about.
But there is a line in the song that says,
in the back of my mind, I killed you. Now
people then took that and started doing other things with
some of these lyrics. Again, I'm I guess this is
supposed to be a romantic song. It's not about literal death.

(16:13):
I believe in the back of my mind you died.
I didn't even cry, No, not a single tear. I'm
sick of waiting patiently for someone that won't even arrive.
I think it's supposed to be some kind of.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
But it's romantic homicide. I mean, I understand it could
be figurative instead of literal, but yeah, in the back.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Of my mind, I killed you. I didn't even regret it.
I can't believe I said it, but it's true. I
hate you is some of the lyrics, and then Sabine
just reminded us of how they're changing this lyric in
the back of my mind, you died. Folks are being
playful with it, if you will, about someone who's dead
and saying in the back of my car you died,

(16:49):
So it's ropes. I'm I am so curious what was
going on in this young lady's life and where she's
been for the past year.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah, and I'm really curious about when we are going
to hear something from David or something from police. But
certainly this does need to be cleared up. I know
you are innocent until proven guilty, of course, and to reiterate,
no one has pointed the finger at him or even
suggested he had anything to do with it. Certainly people
online are speculating, but no one in any position of

(17:20):
authority has speculated anything even close to that. However, I
do think that the time has come, and it should
probably be coming sooner rather than later, given now that
he's canceled his concert for the evening, and now that
we know who this young lady was in the trunk
of his car, I think we need to hear something,

(17:41):
probably sooner than later, for his sake, for his ability
to continue. If he had nothing to do with this.
In a career, he's twenty years old. He has a
lot of singing to do, a lot of performing to do,
but he's got to address this.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
I think that's fair, folks. Top right corner of this

And there are a lot of updates these days, a
lot of news that is coming out as you can

(18:17):
it seems. But for Amy Robot, I'm TJ. Holmes. We'll
talk to y'all real soon.
