Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Hello everyone,
It's Friday, October twenty fifth.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm Amy Robot and.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
I'm TJ Holmes. Bonjour. We should say we're coming to
you this Friday. We want to make sure we got
in a morning run. But we are starting our morning
run actually in Paris, coming to you from Charles de
Girl Airport. But we didn't want to miss a morning
run with you, so here we are.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
That's right, And on today's run take his word for it,
Donald Trump says he never said that thing they said
he said about Hitler.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Yeah. Also, the LA District Attorney officially now has requested
that the Menendez brothers be re sentenced.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
And an incomprehensible story out of Washington State where a
fifteen year old is accused of shooting and killing five
members of his family.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
And a huge onion recall now tied to that E
Coli outbreak. It has now involving more than just the
McDonald's restaurants. We'll explain.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
And we've fallen for this before, but we're told it's
real this time. Kamala and Beyonce on stage together.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
And also on this run, the gimmick apparently worked. Chilean
Sea bass crackers sold out on the first day. It
was a story we were very excited to bring you yesterday,
and we have a kind of funny update today. But
we will again our run on the campaign trail. Former
President Donald Trump insisted that he never made positive comments

(01:27):
about Hitler while he was in office. In response to
what his former chief of staff John Kelly told several
news outlets this week, Trump said, I never said that.
I would never say that.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Both The Atlantic and The New York Times published reports
quoting Kelly, and both organizations stand by their reporting, The
Atlantic saying they had two people who heard Trump make
the remark that he needed generals like Adolf Hitler because
quote people were totally loyal to him.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
That follow orders.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Kelly also told The New York Times that Trump told
him and I quote Hitler did some good things. Trump
responded again, he never said that. In fact, the Trump
campaign said that Kelly has totally just beclowned himself. He's
just totally clowned himself on this thing and recounting what
are now debunk stories.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
The Harris campaign wasted no time getting an ad out
that highlights Kelly's comments, So, of course those ad wars
continue as were now just eleven days to election day.
Next up on the run, the Menendez brothers may be
eligible for parole immediately. The LA District Attorney announced he
is recommending re sentencing for Lyle and Eric Menendez. They

(02:36):
are both currently serving life in prison without parole for
the murder of their parents more than three decades ago.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
District attorney says he believes the brothers have paid their
debt to society after serving nearly thirty five years in prison,
recommending that their sentence be changed to fifty years to life.
But because they were under the age of twenty six
at the time of the crime, they are now eligible
for parole as we speak.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
If this was all to go through, that's true, that's
because the hearing still has to take place.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
That should happen, the district attorney said within.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
The next thirty to forty five days. That's when a
judge will make the final decision based on the DA's recommendation,
and a parole bowl. A parole board must also approve
the deal.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
This all comes after some intense pressure from the Menendez
family and others celebrities included when new evidence appeared that
backed up the brother's initial claim that they had been sexually, physically,
and emotionally abused by their parents for decades.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Thea also told reporters that while there is no excuse
for murder, because I do believe that the brothers were
subjected to a tremendous amount of dysfunction in the home
and molestation. The Menendez attorney, Mar Garrigo, said that he
is hopeful the brothers will have a fair hearing and
believe the two will be home before Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
All right, Next up on our run, it's the onions.
Investigators now believe that raw onions were the source of
the e coal like contamination on quarter pounders at McDonald's.
That outbreak sickened at least forty nine people and one
person died.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
So the supplier of those onions, Taylor Farms, has now
announced a recall of several of its onion products for
potential ECOLI contamination. They say they're doing this out of
an abundance of caution, but at this point there has
been no test that confirmed in fact that it is
their onions. But they're saying they are doing this just
to be cautious.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yes, also, perhaps out of an abundance of caution.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
We have Taco Bell now, KFC, Burger King, a lot
of other restaurants also removing that onion from their locations,
or at least from some of their locations. And to
be clear, there is no E. Coli case link to
any other restaurants at this point, but of course everyone
wants to make sure safety is the number one priority
and so they are taking extra precautions.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Well, next up on our run now, the two companies
that owned and operated the container ship that destroyed Baltimore's
Franciscott Key Bridge and killed six construction workers will have
to pay nearly one hundred and two million dollars to
the US government.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah, they reached the settlement with the US Justice Department
in a suit that alleges the company's cost cutting and
negligence in the ship's maintenance led to that deadly collision.
But this is not the first well, it is the
first lawsuit, but there are many more to come. Now.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
The city of Baltimore has already filed its own claim
against the companies, and families of three of the victims
say they intend to sue as well. In addition, the
FBI has opened a criminal investigation into the actions of
the ship's crew. The Justice Department said its investigations show
that the tragedy was entirely avoidable.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Yeah, the one hundred two million dollars settlement is going
to go directly to the US Treasury and to the
federal agencies that were affected by the collision or at
least who helped in the response to the collision. None
of that money will cover any of the damages for reconstruction.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
The Port of Baltimore reopened in June. However, the Francis
Scott key Bridge rebuilding project won't begin until next year.
Expect did to be complete by fall of twenty twenty eight,
with an estimated price tag around one point two billion dollars. Well,
stay with us here from Charles de Gaull Airport in
Paris as we continue our run this morning. When we

(06:13):
come back, she is an absolute icon. Yeah, and now
she's going to be on stage with Kamala Harris. We'll explain, all.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Right, Welcome back everyone. Next up on our run at
a rally in Texas today, Kamala Harris will be the
opening act. After months of speculation and yes, some false alarms,
Kamala and Beyonce are expected on stage at a rally
in Houston for real this time.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Okay, we say for real. Remember at the Democratic Convention,
you remember Kamala Harris was supposed to speak that night,
but the whole place was all above about a different
black woman, Beyonce. It's some kind of way the rumor
got going. Everybody just knew Beyonce was going to come
out and perform that night. Well she did not, So
tonight is going to kind of be the duover for
all of us. And this is meant to be a

(07:09):
huge closing act for the campaign. She is all in
and she has all but officially endorsed a Kamala Harris
for President. Gay prishion for her to use that song
Freedom Out in the campaign trails. But this is going
to be a huge, huge event.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yes, I can't.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I still remember when we were watching the Democratic National Convention.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Of course, we have friends.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
And producers who were there who were all talking about
They said she was backstage in the wings.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
That's how crazy that rumor got.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
So tonight, if it actually happens, certainly it will be
a big deal for a lot of folks who have
been waiting a long time to see Beyonce and Kamala
on stage together.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
All right.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Next up on our run, a fifteen year old kid
who is described as a lover of hiking and fishing.
He has no criminal record, is now accused today of
shooting and killing his parents as well as three of
his siblings.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
This is an incomprehensible story and folks are still looking
just asking the question why that this teen is facing
five counts of aggravated murder. It's happened in Falls City, Washington.
This is just east of Seattle, and police say the teen,
initially called nine to one one, tried to pen the
murders on his.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Brother, yeah, and one of his sisters. One sibling, an
eleven year old girl, survived after she was shot and
then she played dead. She was able to escape to
a neighbor's house. She told police what actually happened. She
said she saw her brother, her sister. Is an incredibly
sad and tragic story and there are certainly so many
questions as to how this happened and why this happened.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
And this is a story we debated about, including even
in the rundown. It's just, I mean, it's just so
horrific to think about but this is not just some
run of the mill murder or accused murderer. This is incredible,
so wondering what could have possibly gone wrong and a
lot of answers folks are going to be looking for

(09:01):
after a story like this that's just awful.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah, we will continue to update you on that as
more details become available. We do want to lighten things
up now because we have an update on a story
that we brought you yesterday about well, the Chilean Sea
Bass cracker. It's sold out in the very first day.
They say they're going to make more, but I just

(09:23):
checked the website as of this recording, officially they direct
you to go ahead and get the original the Goldfish.
You can't get the Chilean Sea Bass. But they are
going to be adding new supplies through October thirtieth, So
it might be one of those situations TJ where you
have to keep checking back on the website to see
if you can get your hands on the exact same
product with a different name.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
And for you folks who maybe weren't listening to us yesterday,
what we're talking about here is goldfish, the Goldfish crackers.
That's all we're talking about. Goldfish crackers ain't changed same cracker,
but they changed the name as part of just a
fun little marketing gimmick, trying to get adults to start
eating the crackers of your childhood. We certainly still do
eat them. They taste just as good, just as delicious,
and it's just as appealing as an adult. But they

(10:07):
think adults want it to be a little more sophisticated.
Don't want to eat goldfish. They want to eat a
Layan seabas.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, they thought it, and turns out they were right. Well,
we would like to leave you on this Friday run
with a little bit of wisdom, something to consider as
you go through your day today. So we have our
quote of the day for you.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
And that is change the changeable, accept the unchangeable, and
remove yourself from the unacceptable.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
I love every single thing about this quote, but I
had to read it three times just to let it
really sink in. But it's so true and once you
accept it's one of those moments where peace is undervalued.
I think oftentimes we're looking for other things. But if
you just accept the unchangeable, but also be willing to
remove yourself from the unacceptable, you will get peace.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
All right, so we wish you peace, and we would
also like to say a huge thank you to the
manager here at the lounge as Charles de Gaulle, who
allowed us to step into his office where we are
right now and probably are not authorized generally to be.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
We're in an Air France employee's office.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Was very kind to give us a private space so
that we could do the podcast today and we certainly
appreciate him and the company as well.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
So we appreciate you as always, folks going along on
a run with us and Jolia weekend. We'll certainly be
with you again on Monday. Lord knows where.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
I'm T Jacobs and I'm Mamie Robot. Have a great weekend, everybody,
