Speaker 1 (00:01):
And That's what you really missed with Jenna.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to and That's what Really miss podcast. It's Cleik
of the Week, Okay Kevin. This week we have re
Re is incredible. Ree is twenty three and from Perth,
Western Australia and he has been a huge glik since
the age of eleven. He started watching twenty twelve against

(00:31):
his mother's permission, which you will hear about.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
I do love that we were that show that people
had to like sneak to watch when they were little.
It's like MTV f Yeah, exactly, like we all had that.
Do you remember, like when we first started Glee, Chris
Colfer would say like Niptock was that show for him? Yes, exactly.
So Re talked to us and took time out of
his first ever holiday to chat with us. He's listened
to every single episode of this podcast, which we appreciate

(00:55):
a lot multiple times, and especially loves the guest interviews.
Is the guest himself, so we got to chat. He's
so lovely, so excited for you all to meet Ree.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Hi. How are we?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Who are these Davis? Oh my gosh, I'm so excited.
How are you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Well, thanks for writing in and volunteering this tribute.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
That's what I like to do.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Like, we're also grateful to have you here on the show.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Where are you joining us from?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
I'm originally from Perth or Baulou, Western Australia, but I'm
currently on my first euro trip in Poland right now.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Oh my god, how is it?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Oh it's really good.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
It's been really hot and that's coming from Australia.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Oh, but not amazing. My graduation and birthday present.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Congras. Yeah, and up late to talk to us.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Oh that's all right. You guys are like, I think
I can set the time in.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
We know you listen to every episode of and that's
what you really miss. Thank you, by the way.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Thank you for entertaining. You're constantly welcome.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
You're so Welcomeome. How did Glee find you? Or how
did you find Glee? What is this story here?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Well, so it was I was nine to ten years
old when it came out, so two thousand and nine
I would have been like eight.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Oh sorry I'm saying, and I all my friends were
watching it. But my mom was very strict.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
She loves music, but she was very strict on what
she let me watch or read or engage with or whatever.
It's like, I grew up on the Grease soundtrack but
didn't watch it until I turned sixty and something. Uh, which,
so my introduction to Greece, West Side Story a bunch
of other musicals was of course Glee, which I think

(03:08):
is the best way to be introduced.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
We get a lot of contacts and.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
About that, I know, that's so dumb. We talked about, like,
you know, like the classic rock songs and things like
that that we introduced to people I've never thought about,
like introducing Inside Story being introduced for the first center
of the show.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
How exciting the classic rock I had that in the bag.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I like, yeah, that was Bruce Springsteen, but R and
B and musicals really were.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
And a lot of pop songs actually.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
And by Lee, so shout out to ce Low and
gold Digger is my favorite.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Bordered on iTunes on my iPhone. But yeah, finally snuck
around watching it.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
And actually my first episode fully watched through was On
My Way, which was Kowsky and the Quinn of it all.
Yeah wow, yeah, yeah, crazy work.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Honestly, I can't even imagine that being your entry point.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah yeah, yeah, So we that being here. You probably
watching that all the ways, like the first episode, all
the way through. What do you remember what your initial
thoughts were by that episode?

Speaker 3 (04:27):
I mean it's a dark episode.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
I would have been maybe eleven or twelve, No, probably
eleven because it's coming out at the time, watching it
with my older sister, and I remember heard just just
the distinct memory of her saying, do you know why
he's putting on a suit? Learn about some things that
day and also not shut out.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Or I mean, that's probably why your mom didn't want
you to watch the show. You don't into the episode.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
One of the deepest.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
No. So I was not allowed to watch Glee and
then ended up slowly watching a couple episodes that came
on TV, and my mom thought it was really really
great from what she saw, especially the representation from Artie
and Becky with just the amount of diverse experience with

(05:24):
represented there was absolutely fantastic, and it ended up having
a really great effect in our relationship later when I
coming out to her. So it's been such a massive
part of my life. It's been such a joy to
grow up with the show. Started watching it when I
was in primary school, elementary school. The last season finished
when I was in high school, my first year of

(05:45):
high school, and then the podcast started twenty twenty one,
so just a year or so after I finished high school.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
So it's been a massive, massive part of my life.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Crazy, you haven't had a break never never.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
What character do you think like resonated with you the
most or has it? Has it changed?

Speaker 4 (06:12):
It definitely has changed, like I would have said, like
my favorite characters when I was younger have definitely changed.
But I mean Santana, I'm Blaine, like I'm I'm bisexual,
so like it's going to be Santana, I'm Blaine every
single time.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
But oh, Cassandra July, but I love I love her.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Down yeah, I mean yeah, I don't think enough people
to talk about that.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Yeah, yes, honestly, honestly, like she was fantastic. Also, I'm
a massive Mike Stan.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Sorry to apologize.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
I love her so much.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
It's okay, we've heard it all, we've heard, we know
how the people feel. Okay, I'm curious, like how your
view of Glee has changed over time, like, in addition

(07:14):
to your favorite characters, has it changed and has it
evolved since you haven't taken any breaks.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Also because as you've like grown up and become who
you are, like, has that changed how you view the show?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Absolutely, I mean watching as a kid, it was I
didn't I mean one, I didn't understand a lot of
the jokes rewatch as a teenager, and now as an adult,
it's definitely broadened my understandings of certain jokes and I know,
references just like everything.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Yeah, so I grew up with.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
The show and then I hadn't questioned anything to do
with my sexuality or identity yet because I was like
a child, but then growing up coming to terms with
bisexuality and my gender and everything, having relationships with boys
and girls and everyone in between, and figuring out how

(08:13):
I wanted to look and how I wanted to be
as a person, as just a human in general, Glee
really prepared me for a lot of those experiences, or
at least made me feel seen teenage experiences in general actually,
like you know, just typical bullying and high school scandals
and everything. Not enough well, yeah, definitely no slushies.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Being thrown though. We were pretty feral, but that's maybe
the only thing.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
But yeah, the characters that were most important to me
were definitely.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Blaming, blaming.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Kurt and Santana and Brittany were my everything's and.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
So there's the songs that.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
They do together usually my absolute favorites, I mean the
world to me, Landslide is one of my favorite, not
even like songs of all I mean obviously the original,
but yeah, Landslide is.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Do you have other other songs or episodes that you
go back to, like comfort episodes or anything that you
are so.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Glad you asked because you're gonna hate my answer.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
I can't wait.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
So my my current favorite song at the moment is
It's not right but it's okay.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I love that. I love current song of the moment
because it does change, it does change change.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
It's such a banger, it's so good. Yeah. I'm also
a massive Starcket fan, so any of that yeah, yeah, anything.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
That he does, I'm just like, oh my gosh, amazed.
And oh because you've been doing season six, yes, social
shout out to Jane doing Tight wrote by Janelle Renee.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yes, yes, not.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Enough paid to that performance. That was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
My favorite episode of all time is.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Michael oh hot take re hates you, I know, and
it's it's a great episode episode.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Like I know it was stressful and I was impast
Yeah that sounds.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Horrible, but like Kevin, girl, you carried.

Speaker 4 (10:37):

Speaker 1 (10:40):

one of your favorite songs?

on iTunes on.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
My iPad and I watched it on repeating a million
times as twelve year old, and so I can't actually
watch it without having that weird memory memorize.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Very strange.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yea. The favorite episodes would be Duets, Rumors.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Oh and Rocky Horrors.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yes, really good, really good salad.

Speaker 3 (11:37):

Speaker 4 (11:50):
I know, it's like it's a weird pick, but yours
and Harry's voices go together so amazingly.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
It is, so it's so joyous to just work. I
love it very much.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
It was a fun one to do because it was
like Carrie's first number two and like he's just so
good and anything he does and you're like, just please
do your thing, and like let me support you, and
you know, please just do your thing.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Whenever we could be paired with like Heather or Harry,
like yeah, I don't have to do a lot, we'll
be here.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
You can look good.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
I want to see you do your thing.

Speaker 1 (12:26):

to rewatch?

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Two or three? Twitch?

Speaker 4 (12:36):
On my favorites because I have really they have like
the funniest moments, but then also like really good songs.

like my that's like the best song.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Every Okay, we're learning here from all of I know,
I know, but no idea.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
I don't want to say all. I don't want to
say on the basic favorite songs. But they're good for
a reason.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
No, because it maybe it's not basic to us.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I just think, like everyone shine in so many ways
and it's.

Very great and oh, Corey sounds amazing.

Speaker 2 (13:14):

overlooked it.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
We didn't.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
It's not underrated, it's.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Over looked, Jennet. It's one of those moments that we're
attaching to, like the experience of it as opposed to
what it.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Was like the number yeah was hard. Okay, So we
ask everybody what is the feeling that Glee leaves you with?
As you know, so, what is the feeling that Glee
leaves you with?
