Speaker 1 (00:01):
And that's what you really missed with Jenna.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
O ho ho and welcome to you, and that's what
you really was podcasts. Have the Holidays, Kevin.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Can you believe? Caught me off guard?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Can you believe we are in the holidays?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
We're not in the holidays? We're like almost over?
Speaker 1 (00:27):
You stop that.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
How did this happen so quickly?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I don't know, honestly. Once you hit Halloween, it's all over.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
But here we are. We made it, we did, and
you are deep in your holiday musical beater life a.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Bit I have today and tomorrow off.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Oh, that's so exciting.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Christmas, even Christy today.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I remember doing musicals during holidays and it was always tough.
I remember doing like missing Easter and missing Christmas. I
would do like half Christmas and then have to go
into the city, and so I remember that life.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Well it's a lot, yeah, but you know, I it's
nice that like people are coming into the city or
are in the city and seeing shows and to checking
around in New York during this time of year is really.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Oh yeah, it's very special. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
The Santa Con everything else is so pretty.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
The worst is.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
The worst thing to ever happen to humanity. That's not true,
but the worst. I'm pretty sure that's how I got
COVID a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
No, yeah, no, Santa con You know, it's just it's
so beautiful here.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Having lived in LA since I was fifteen and now
being eighteen, it's just you have.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
To watch and like go to the plaza and do
the all the things. Did you see the tree? You
got to the tree?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I saw the tree while they were had the scaffolding
around it and they were building it, and.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
I guess seemed you've seen the journey.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yeah. And so it's been up. It's beautiful. Everyone's been
ice skating. It's just nice. I'm not used to a
cold Christmas.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
You're gonna get like a really cold Christmas this year.
Oh yeah, it's going to be really cold. You've got
like a weird cold Christmas, Like it's been warm in
New York for the last few years.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Oh man, what are you doing for Christmas Eve and Christmas?
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Just some family things and we've done some LA holiday
things that we do every year. We finally got to
see Santa this year, and we got really excited to
meet Santa this year and then we got up to
meet Santa and we had a full blown all down.
But Graham's got to meet Santa. She freaked out and that's.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
She's scared of him.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
She was, but she wasn't like she was so excited
and then she got in there and she got real nervous.
We still have a picture with him, but uh, the
g R I n c H this year really took
us down. And that is something that we've dealt with.
So we don't speak his name like he who I
(03:21):
mean terrifying. Yeah, yeah, we don't. We don't speak his name,
but we are. We've done like the Holiday road in
LA and they have at the zoo they have all
these like light up animals that are so beautiful to
see and you know this disconso gardens here in La
also does like a holiday road as well. So it's
(03:41):
been fun doing all the warm weather things in Christmas.
And you know, we used to go to New York,
but you know, we've been staying here because the kids,
you know, it's waking up ony Christmas morning. Yeah, no,
you wake up Christmas morning and we have a tree
and we do all that we do out the tree
and do all the fun things.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
So it's been I mean four memories you're building with that.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
That's what I'm saying. You know, we make cookies and
we decorate, and we do hankah as well, so we
we do connic each night and that's been fun. It's
been really fun.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
That's special.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah. And it's also the time for Glee Christmas.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Oh, it sure is. Have you playing Glee Christmas music
for the kids?
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Absolutely haven't came to play it. We just it's everywhere
we go. It's true, it plays everywhere we go.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Literally walking down the street here, I'm like, and that's
Leah and Boy singing Last Christmas.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
That's so funny. Yeah, that's really funny. Wow.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Wow is it crazy?
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Now?
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Like do you think about how your parents must have
felt like planning Christmas for you guys, Because obviously we
just know we have those memories. I know what it's
felt like and how special it was, But like when
you're the parent doing it, you're just like trying to
get through the day. You hope the kids like it.
Is it enough? Like what what does it feel like
(05:03):
on your side of it? Now? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Like a deep appreciation for like realizing that like Christmas
was your appearance, making the magic like that was it.
And so we're still at the age where they're young enough,
although Emma's old enough now that I can no longer
hide her presence like upstairs in my bedroom behind the chair,
like it, they have to be hidden and all the
(05:27):
things that come with creating that Christmas magic. So yeah, no,
I have a deep appreciation for it. I'm absolutely exhausted.
People are like, how's your break? How is your Thanksgiving break?
How's your Christmas break? You're like, what break? It's the
opposite of a break, freaking talking about because you were
crazy home. Any of this is a break exactly. They're home,
(05:47):
they're sick, and we're tired. But it's still it's still magical.
And you know, it's not about how many presents are
under the tree. It's just really about making those memories
and like being together and making them yours, like not
doing the things that like other people want you to do.
It's just like it's really nice. So it's been it's
(06:08):
been really fun. But I do have a new deep
appreciation for the creation of those memories.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Do you have any traditions that you're like starting with them?
Are things like movies or songs or meals.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Like she's just starting to get into movies now, so
like we haven't gotten into the really good movies yet,
like Elf and you know, Home Alone and all those,
but we do do like the Charlie Brown, you know,
the Great Pumpkin and the Christmas and I think we're
going to show her the Muppets this year. And there's
like the Christmas Parade that we listen we watch on
Christmas Morning and we big cookies and like now we
(06:45):
do leave like cookies for Xanna the day before and yeah,
I think like little things like that. We do pancakes
on Christmas Morning and so we'll do that tomorrow. And
we're just starting because they're so young that like none
of this feels like it's yeah, for sure, for sure,
we do a christ We do a ginger bread house
(07:08):
every year with my family in New York that we
do on our iPads, but we do the same ginger breadhouse,
so like the cousins get to do that together. So
what Okay? Now, so now you're in New York for
this Christmas, Kevin, this is your first Christmas in New York,
not in Texas, because you're usually in Texas. Correct, So
what does this Christmas look like for you and your family?
Most of your family's in New York too, which is
(07:29):
so great, close close by. What does this Christmas look
like for you guys?
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Well, everybody was up here last week. So my brother
and his family who still live in Texas, they all
came to the city. My parents drive in from Connecticut,
and my other brother was staying with me, and so
we were all in the city together for like five days,
which was the first nay. They all came to see
(07:56):
the show. There's all that happening, which is really nice,
you know. I mean it's definitely a sometimes a bit
of a challenge coordinating everybody in the city, and especially
when they're not used to it.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
You know, the city is a different beast. It's a
different beast.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Like the parents moved back to Connecticut and so like
they've been adjusting to the cold. But then like walking
around the city where there's a lot.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Of people, it's lower.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yes, But for actual Christmas Day, I'm going to my
sisters choose in the Jersey. My parents are going to
drive down. Yeah, so we'll be there for that and
that's my first time doing that. So we'll see what
it looks like. I don't know, are you going to.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Do Christmas breakfast like you normally.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Do I have? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Actually, I know it's all different, right.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, I'm feeling lazier.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
You've been a little busy, so yeah, the past.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Week we had ten shows. Those holiday schedules are so fertile,
so like I'm kind of just like into not doing anything.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, yeah, I hear that. I hear that.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
So yeah, that's that's sort of where I'm at.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Okay, well you kick those feed up. Thank you, you're welcome.
I have a little game for us to do before
we go enjoy our holidays and let everybody else go
enjoy their holidays.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah it's this or that, Okay, great.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
White Christmas or warm weather Christmas, White Christmas, white Christmas,
warm weather New Year's Yeah yeah, real tree or fake tree,
fake tree, real?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
I like, I prefer a real tree. I don't like
the messiness. And it's a lot. It's a lot, but
it is easier to get rid of.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
But the reasonable one is something else.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
We grew up with.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
A reasonable one. It's so easy. Haw coke or eggnog coco. Yeah,
definitely a Christmas Eve person or Christmas Morning person, Christmas
Christmas Morning. Matching pjs or cozy sweats. Okay, I love
cozy sweats. I'll always choose cozy sweats. But we do
(10:16):
have matching pj's.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
I know, if it's like a thing, if everybody is
doing matching pj's, I think that's cute. But I'm I'm
in real life.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Coz Yeah, always I will put the matching PJS on
then I will make it into cozy sweats after Yeah,
holiday party or stay home movie night, Stay home movie night,
allttle bit of both. Like holiday party is the only
time you'll get me out for a party. However, I'll
do it.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
My friend through a holiday party last year. That did
make me change my tune. Yeah, it was great. Shout
out to Leland. Yeah, they had a caviar stand.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Oh okay, that's it.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
They'd make marchinies and give you ket with chips Jenna
and then had a drag performance.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
I mean, that's the dream party.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
It was, That's the dream Donuts, there was cream station.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Somebody knew you were coming.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, it was really really great. So okay, holiday party
if he's throwing it.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Okay, Riah Carey or Michael bob Rya Carrey, Ri Carrey
home alone or alf home alone. Wrapping paper or gift bags, wrapping,
wrapping paper, gift bags for big bag weird No, I
am wind gift bags for weirdly shaped things. Like, we
have a lot of stuffies now that we wrap and
(11:33):
I'm like, just put it in a gift bag. Gingerbread
cookies or sugar cookies. Oh, sugar cook cookies, the Nutcracker
or the Rockets. I've never seen the rockets so much fun.
You should go see them.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
I'm saying they do like they do like forty.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Shows a week. Kevin, you think you have a lot
of shows? Oh god, Rockefeller Tree or Brian Park, Winter Village,
Rockefeller Tree.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
I've never been to Brian Park.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Oh you got to go there too. Now, okay, we
have a lot of things you have to do, ski
trip or beach vacation. Yeah, secret Sanna or white elephant.
What's the difference, secret Sannah is that's right? That's right?
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Elephant elephant?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Yeah, we used to do that. Yeah. Pumpkin spice or
ginger bread spice neither both. Cozy robe or fuzzy socks.
Two more Christmas karaoke or Christmas caroling.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Interesting.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
I'd like to see Christmas carolers. I like how they
dress up and they sing Christmas karaoke exactly, give gifts
early or make everyone wait?
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Make everyone wait? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Always? Well, Happy holidays everybody.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
