Welcome to and That's What You Really miss podcast. We
are recording live here from iHeart Podcast Studio powered by
Bows at the House of Music at the iHeartRadio Music
Festival in Las Vegas, Vegas. We're in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Oh, yes, this is my happy place. We love Vegas
a little too much. I don't know what that says
about us.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well, it says a lot, that does.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
It says all you need to know.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Really, so many Vegas memories.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
We have to post. We'll be hosting pictures of our
view that we have right now. We are in basically
like a retrofitted sauna, but with an.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Ac and here and soundproof walls.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's like a bo's studio. Outside there's these glass doors,
so people are walking by and they can see us.
We're outside the T Mobile Arena in Vegas, and it
feels very, very active. It feels very I like it.
So you might hear like the bass, the music, the
atmosphere around us.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Just listen, Yeah, do you feel the bass.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
That's a good times. That's what that is.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
That is a good time.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
This is exciting, it's the iHeart Radio Music Festival, and
there are I mean, this lineup is annual events actually
crazy insane and not to make it about us, but
there are a lot of artists here that we've.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Covered that is wow, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
I mean a lot. TLC Well, Kelly.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Clarkson, Kelly Clarkson, Lenny, who else are you excited to
stay tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Lil Wayne?
Speaker 1 (01:44):
You think he's gonna be He's going to turn it up?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Oh, I'm very very excited. I've never seen him. Really, Yeah,
have you seen any of these artists?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Actually, Wayne, I think it's like a super Bowl, like
a basement, you know, underground party or something. Who have
you seen the You've seen some people in Vegas too.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I don't know if I've seen no any of these people.
Oh yeah, I'm very excited to see Linny Kravitz like
just an actual rock star.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Hik Yes, exactly. What what did we do today, Kevin?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Today we were running around seeing all the sights and
sounds of Vegas. The amount of times we've been to Vegas,
I've never actually seen the welcome to Las Vegas sign.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Well, it's interesting, it's an interesting sign.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yes, experience we found today We went there and we
took pictures in front of it with it with an elvis.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
It's smaller than I thought it would be.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
It's tiny. It's right next to the airport. It's weird,
but I guess all of the strip is right next
to the airport. That's what makes it so convenient.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
True, that's why I think we like it so much.
You played some blackjack.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I played blackjack. I only lost fifteen dollars so far.
There's still time.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
That's a win on and sound.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah. I can't say that for my brother or my
friend justin there. They're down.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
They had more time than you did.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I can catch up to them quickly.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Some of my favorite Vegas memories, UH started with miss.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
One Nia Rivera her birthday parties. She always had a
birthday fight, Oh my god, and they were epic. And
then one year Nia and I as patrons paying gas
on I don't know if you paid, but we came
to an iHeart Radio music festival I remember, and we
partied and we went to Sonic Burger.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The Sonic here.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
We took a cab.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
It's off off off the strip.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
But we went.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
It's local.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
We were. We actually came to Vegas for the burger
and then stopped by the music.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
So you're like a legit iHeart radio music festival fan.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
No, but Nina's birthday parties were pretty crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
What happened with those things were she would get all
this free stuff and we'd have to show up and
like take pictures and they would have this step and.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Repeat and we'd be very drunk by that point. Oh
my god, we would be drunk immediately. Yeah, like off
the plane. Yeah, we'd land, and then it would just
get really really rowdy. There were some really hard days
after that. I lost my id one here.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Everybody, everybody. We shaved years off of our life. We're
not encouraging necessarily to do this. We did it, but
we built some great memories with each other, especially when
I is mom playing ever. Yes, that was great.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I've seen a lot of music here, though recently I
think I saw like most recently it Bruno was like
a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
How was that awesome?
Speaker 1 (04:41):
He took your phones away, you put your phone in
a oh yeah, and it was excellent time.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
You know. I saw Beyonza here a couple of weeks ago.
That's right, you were here yeah twice. So now when
I passed the football stadium, like, well, that's Beyonce Stadium.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
It is very active out there. I have to say.
We are like in this booth, but like there's a
lot going on outside of it. Us. People are waving,
people are excited. It's this is very different from our
normal recording situations. I kind of really like this idea
actually be in this booth every week.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I feel like I'm at an aquarium and like in
one of the tanks because people can like look in.
But outside there's all these colorful what they call activations
and all these brands and things, and all the artists
have like these little sort of als in wonderland mazes. Yeah,
I like it a lot.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
You know what residency, I'm really really want to see.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
What I think I'm going Jenna, No, you jealous.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
No. I also would like to see Adele. And I
know you've seen her, so you're Kevin too, Jenna Zero.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
I'm kind of nailing this.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
You are nailing it.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
I really I've lost it both and I really love
them both like a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Adele's show is excellent. Oh it just it's an excellent show.
And I know when she canceled it and all that
and it caused a lot of gative reactions. However, it's
worth it.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I will also say we came here in like twenty
fifteen and saw Selene Yah and it was the first
time I had ever seen Selene and it was pure magic.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
There's nothing like seeing Celene nothing. No, you can hear
her hit her chest. It is spiritual because she makes
eye contact with you. She's talking to your soul. Yes,
she wants your participation. It is That actually was groundbreaking. Yeah,
I'm sure you probably that was She's what Beyonce is
(06:38):
to meet for you. I feel like right, yes, definitely.
Our producer was asking us if Artie and Tina had
a Vegas residency, what would the show be like.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Seek for You, but with cats, with circusle. I don't
know who's doing.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Maybe maybe a little cabaret in there too. I'm doing
the stripping though.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
If Arnie and Tina had a residency.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Here, Honestly, and I'm not saying this because we're here,
but I think it's because I'm Glee. We did so
many different genres. Both of us did say so many
different genres. I think it would be more like a review,
a festival vibe like this or we could sort of
do different.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Oh interesting, interesting, right, interesting, like a variety show of sorts.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
I think a variety shows.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
We can't captivate them with just.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
No, we're not enough, We're no Amber Riley.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Amber would be the residency. I would want.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I want to see that.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Could she do that? Can we call her up and tell.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Her singing the International World Songbook? Like, just give her anything?
Speaker 1 (07:52):
She could pull it. She pulls it off.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
You know what's crazy? I know I talk about Beyonce
every other thirty seconds, but she had a video that
she put is where she covered one plus one by
Beyonce and she does this crazy thing in the second verse.
It's like variation of the Amber Amber does. And now
when I see Beyonce seing that on tour, I want
that version.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Oh my wow, that is a very big statement.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I'm just saying that one part, just that one part.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
But I understand your Yeah, yeah, I haven't seen that
cover though I need to.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
I'll send it to you. You know I have that.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yes, speaking of there's a lot of questions that we
have from fans want to know when you're releasing Uh,
what's the song that they wanted from you?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
I tell him oh yeah, and they want blue burst
from me, which you you don't have firming or denying
that I have anything.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
No, she doesn't have bloopers, never has she ever. Definitely
didn't show me after we got off that podcast.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Right, why didn't we ever do a Glee club regionals
or nationals competition in Vegas?
Speaker 2 (09:05):
What can high schoolers do in Vegas?
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Blame it on the alcohol?
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Right?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
That would have been the episode.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Oh well, we were here on tour, fair enough, he yeah,
justin outside like a tour, right, Jojo.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
JoJo's here, Jojo if you listen to jo Jojo.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Is the icon, the one and only icon.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
So sweet, he's always so sweet.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I love him. I love him.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Did you ever go do his ghost story? Then you
got to do that. We're waving. He's on his stories.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
He's a legend, legend, he's the best.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
He invented radio.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
We were here on tour. But I'm saying, like in
the Glee Show.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
As our care Well, I guess, okay.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Fair, I know, but I will say it would I
don't know if filming in Vegas is the best.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
It would have been so hot, animals, and it's true.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
And we also would have been very hung over all
the time. That would be my brother went to school
here for four or five years.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Did you come visit him on?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I did, but he'd only come to the Strip, you know,
where all the hotels aren't everything when I was here,
and I feel like locals must hate people like us.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
I think they're used to it. This is the.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Locals must avoid the Strip. You know, it's absolutely insane
you're listening to and that's what you really missed. Podcast
Live at the iHeart Podcast Studio powered by Bows at
the House of Music at iHeart Radio Music Festival, Jenna.
(10:58):
We're counting down to like the actual performers hitting the stage,
which is very very exciting.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
That is really exciting. It feels like we're a part
of it. We're in it.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
And because like you know, this podcast is produced by
our Art radio, we have like a little hookup and
so we can we walk around backstage. We were just
by Minny Kravitz and show Crows and I was like,
if we just hang out here we see them and
then should we just like, oh, hey, mister Kravits, did
you know Manny Kravitz hit on my sister like twenty
(11:35):
five years ago in LA when she first moved to La.
I believe that, oh longer than that. It's definitely longer
than that, and I've never forgotten it, and I'm still
upset at her for she turned him down.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
She turned him down. Who does that? Nobody, nobody except
for Shannon.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Terrible, terrible decisions. Shannon.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
We were walking backstage and I could hear Sheryl Crowe's
band was sound checking. It's cool. If I had heard
Kelly Clarkson's band sound checking, I might have wrapped on
stage and.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Tails does no scrubsh I just.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Go, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Yes, absolutely not. No, don't do it, No, don't do it. Okay,
I'm not pulling a little mama. Uh the viam.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
All right?
Speaker 1 (12:25):
So I thought we thought it would be fun if
we did some ask me anything's here? Yeah, fo little
episode incorporate that. But first, Kevin and I need to
bring this back because I was reading through some of
the comments about the what time is Glee Club from
a previous episode that we were repeat only repeating them.
(12:49):
We repeat this, repeating what I and Brennan, the creator
of Glee, said, and people were angry.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Yeah, and let's just reiterate what Jenna said. She read
the comments. We read the comments.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Do you want to read some? Oh yeah, okay, I
hit it, Adding on to everyone's comments before mine, I
always thought it was an extracurricular It was called glee club,
not glee class. Kids joined and left at various parts
of the year and signed up on a list in
the hall after the school year began. If it were
a class, it would have been part of the academic
(13:21):
schedule and they couldn't just leave or get kicked out
or whatever that said. There were, for sure times the
show were treated as happening during the school day, students
in the hall, ending with the bell ringing, So it's
a big contradictory.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
People really went in on this. Tell me, but I
love that explanation. It is really seriously Yeah, but someone said,
but remember when Shoes says he worked out a schedule
after school with the football coach, that their practices don't interfere. Right.
And also, but it can't be because coach Shanaka added
an extra football practice after school and the players had
(13:56):
to choose again, right about that?
Speaker 1 (14:01):
This is the rebuttle don't people know by now that
glee club transcends the boundaries of space and time?
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Correct? I was so willing to accept that all Glee
insanity that I never even questioned this, And.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
I remember looking at the clock for consistency reasons a lot.
I'm wondering the same thing said by Heathermore.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Even we didn't know we were in there, and we're like, well,
we have no idea. Oh my gleek at the Week
pod said, Glee Club exists in a paradox case close.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
I'm this is actually awesome, and I feel like somebody
needs to make a TikTok on this, because this feels
like one of those TikTok things. I'm sure there are some,
Well you got to find them for me.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
I told you I can't look up Glee things on
my TikTok because I'm not trying to put my algorithm
through that. I needed to stay on Kat William's comedy
and Beyonce shows.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Well that's really keep it coming, because I think this
is an ongoing debate that it feels like to me.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
In Ian's mind, it was during school. Yes, in brad
or Ryan's mind, it was after school, and so different
characters were assigned to different writers and therefore there was contradictions.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
And then at some point it's just abandonment because like,
who's paying attention to that?
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Well, I mean there's bigger issues at Hampton.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
There were a few.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
There were quite a few, Okay, much loved to the writers.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Oh yeah, just a lot. Because sometimes you know, you
have an idea of what you want it to be
and then you have to write twenty two episodes and
go on tour. Next thing, you know, you don't know
what time Glee Club's at during the day. I feel
like that's fine. Okay, now non glee club schedule related? Ama, Okay,
(16:00):
shall we Jenna?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Yeah, okay, go.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Did Ryan have to read every script to Leah or
was someone else.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Let it go?
Speaker 1 (16:13):
You guys, Leah can't read thing? Is is a done thing?
She can read.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
However, it does give great opportunity for comedy and people
are very clever on the internet's very thoughts on Santana
and Sam as a couple. And I don't like it.
I don't like it either, and I don't want to
see that. No. Is there a glee group chat. There's
a lot of too many. And someone said, do you
guys send tiktoks in the Glee group chat? I did
(16:41):
send Heather and Amber the AI singing of the three
of us. Oh, and we were dying.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
I was not on that. I'm not on that group text.
There's a lot going on.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yes, that's how they worked, though there's sort of local
and specific to what the needs are, right like that
one and Heather were in it. So I just sent
it to that.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Yes, do you all agree Troubletones should have beat New
Directions in the season three sectionals?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Yes, definitely, Trouble Tones always win.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Kevin, but let's just make this both of us. As
a teenager, what was your favorite TV show? For me
in high school? The OC, College Glee?
Speaker 5 (17:22):
So Jenna, friends through I like the OC. I watched
the OC as well, but Friends was the one that
took me from high school into college.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Oh yeah, yeah, what about you?
Speaker 2 (17:36):
I was obsessed with Everwood. I was Emily Emily van Camp,
that's right. So when Jenna and I went to the
Monaco TV Festival, Emily Van Camp was in the elevator
with us, and it's a European elevator, so it was
about two by two, yes, and I freaked out. I
(17:58):
had a full meltdown, and that honey, and poor Emily
was so nice and we stayed friends with her. She
was cool after that. Oh yeah, she's so sweet. Yeah
that's really what ever would okay that? Also, I met
Greg Burlanti a couple of years ago and also was
fully fan growing. He was like, Oh, we're big fans
of your work. I'm like, don't lie to me like that.
Greg Brilanti brothers and sisters mainline it into my veins.
(18:19):
Oh I need that drama.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Oh my god, gosh. What was your Fox media training? Like?
Was it hard to do interviews over the years?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
There was none.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
No, there was no media training. They did take us
in once to have like a security meeting where they
tell you to like change your autograph and your bank signature.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
They also told us about, like, you know, Fox Security
available to us, which you know, shout out to Clinton.
Are you know the head of Fox Security? He was
always our favorite. He was a g And No, it
wasn't hard doing interviews. I think we learned the hard
way that you careful what you say because it it
ends up twisted in some weekly magazine. But it got easier,
(19:09):
and I think Kevin and I tried to do interviews
together all the time just to like soften the blow.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Yeah, and people knew like we sort of had our No,
they weren't sitting, you know, twelve of us down for
a single interview a lot of the time. That was
very rare, so we just buddy systemed it up. Okay,
do you think Lady Gaga would be able to come
on or Madonna? Sure? Uh huh, yep, yeah, that's that's
(19:35):
Lady gug is coming on next week.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
But your friends would be fine.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
I mean, you know, friends is like a big term
at a time, but yeah, yeah, and like whenever.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
We see each other, it's like, she's amazing, but I'm
not going to be like Stephanie's my best friend. I
would like her to be, but she actually has a
best friend that I look like her best friend.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Really, Oh yeah, I would be Okay if you replace
you with Lady Gaga, whoa, that's fine.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Whoa, that's big.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
As long as I get tickets build your own dream
national set.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
List, that's a big. That's a really big one.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Okay. Should we do it out of songs that we did?
We did? Yes, faithfully, well that was so that's should
we use songs you did?
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (20:29):
You mean, like in in competition Okay, okay, I still
haven't found what I'm looking for.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Damn okay, one more?
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Well, I have one more, and then you can do
one more because I don't think it's fair. What is
it more than a feeling?
Speaker 2 (20:47):
That's what I was going to say. Really, yeah, okay,
we're done. That's very solid. We're winning. Troubletones may not
be able to keep up with that one.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Did you ever have to film winning and losing each
competition so the extra wouldn't know?
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yes? Good question.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
So after the whole debacle of the prom Queen coming
out where Chris Coal where they revealed Chris Cole for
being prom Queen, brad Than instilled a rule that we
we filmed both ways.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Ye, kind of like RuPaul's drag.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Just like RuPaul's drag race or basically RuPaul's.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Drag race that was torturous though we shot. You know,
we filmed all of the three finalists and RuPaul's drag
Race as winners. How do you didn't know?
Speaker 2 (21:33):
How do those queens do it though? Every single season
they have to because that is torture. They air almost
a year after they film it. That's torture, so they
have to wait and also the season has to fully air.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Before they find out. Yeah, that's really isn't that crazy?
That's hard? It is really Yeah, Okay.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
If someone asked, snakes miss happening this year, we're working
on We're working on it.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
We're trying to come up with a really cool idea,
but it's seemingly very difficult, and Kevin is taking the
brunt of it.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Now, we're working on it. I think I think something
special will happen. Is happening every year? What iteration it
will take? Who knows?
Speaker 1 (22:11):
This is a good one. Jenna. What was the moment
in your life you regretted the most and why was it?
Gungham star. You guys are really on fire this time around.
I really am enjoying your wit and your fiery tone.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah, we like this, get brutal. How are music streaming
royalties distributed? Oh lord, you could take a whole college
course on this. They don't.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Christ Christmas on its own?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Does Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (22:46):
You know what's wild and sad is when you get
a merchandising report or royalty report, you see what it
has made total, so we can see everything that was
made right. And the first time you opened that report,
you're like oh my god, I'm rich, and then you
(23:08):
see your fifty dollars and you're like just kidding.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Oh my god, I'm rich. Okay, when did you find
out you were a year younger than others? And how
is that decided? We found out on the panel at
Comic Con. It was a surprise and I have no
idea how it was decided. I think we were easy
to work with and they kept us in the choir room.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
So are you saying that people that weren't kept in
the choir room.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Were easy to work Oh? Wow, Kevin, way to put
words in my mouth.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Well, if I didn't somebody else was better it come
from me.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
No, I honestly don't know why they I think they
realized after that they couldn't send everybody to New York
and they still needed a choir room, so they just
split us up. And obviously Rachel had been talking about
New York and Kurt as well well, so we were
just the default.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Yeah, I think so. I think like Leah and Chris's
characters had to be together going to New York, and
then you know, you could just sort of put the
rest of us wherever. What is your go to show
to bend right now, Jenna, do you have one?
Speaker 1 (24:16):
I was, well, this is a guilty pleasure.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
I started for the first time vander Prump Rules from
the very beginning. I watched all ten seasons to get
to Scandaball. You sure did, and it took me two months.
Day night I watched that show.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Damn.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I just carried my phone around in my AirPods and
I would just keep it on while I was like
doing errands and chores, and I watched it all the
way up and the payoff was real.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
It was worth it.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Yes, oh good, Yes, what about you?
Speaker 2 (24:47):
I watched all of the Star Wars amazing, so I'm
watching ah Soka So that's yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:53):

Speaker 1 (25:03):

I really respected it.
Speaker 1 (26:22):

they're still friends.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Daniel was explaining to a writer not to put their
business out there, but like, how like the rules of blackjack?
And she has a certain way to play roulette. Wow,

pull out of the magazine.
