Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to and That's What You Really miss podcast. Hello Kevin,
we are halfway through. I keep saying that, but we're
now halfway through.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, this is basically the halfway point of the final
season of series.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Oh yeah, Nelly, slow down. Okay. I know I don't
know what to do with myself, but this is a
funny episode. This is What the World Needs Now is
this season six, episode six, and it aired on February sixth.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Six six six. Jenna, you know what that means.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
It's gonna be a good episode. Let's get into it.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
In the news this week, the number one song is
and Forever will be for the rest of Glee, I
predict is a town funk.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Think You're right? And the movie is a new number
one movie. It's SpongeBob movie, sponge out of Water. Also
never saw a SpongeBob movie.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, I don't think you need to.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
They're good, but SpongeBob on Broadway. I did too, Even Slatery.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Glee News this Week. On February third, Glee the music
What the World Needs Now is Love EP was released
featured eight tracks from the episode and was released for
digital download. A physical CD was later released exclusively in
Japan in June twenty fifteen.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
You know they love their media. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And honestly,
I feel like you would like track down one of
those CDs to have.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I would like to see it. I'm gonna have to
google after this.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
So this episode was directed by Barbara Brown, who also
directed the last episodes. Are script coordinator Babs Jennas That's
that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well, very few people will do that. So Brad Baker
has done that. Eric Stults has done that, and now
we're talking about Barbara Brown, Babs the one and only
the legend.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
That means four out of the six episodes so far
this season, we're done that way, back to back. Yes,
that is intense, but it makes sense. It makes sense though,
that you have someone who knows the show that well
that you.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Can just like do that plug in. It's hard, but
it's you plug in. Okay, Yes, whoa.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
We have some big guest stars this week. We have
Kim Jung.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
And Jennifer Good as Brittany's mom and dad. Now we're
on to the Burt backrack of it all. We've got
I'll Never Fall in Love Again, and this was performing

Speaker 1 (03:24):
I'm putting that on my Safari NA.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
On YouTube. No, I don't care if you don't know
this song, those of you who are listening, if you
don't like Burke backrack. It is one of the greatest
performances I have ever seen in my entire.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Oh my god, I have to watch this. Okay, It's
on my Safari. It's ready to go.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Cynthia Alfie, you can pause this. Everyone watch that and
then come back.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I'll get there. We'll talk about it next week.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
What the World Needs Now, performed by the Alumni and
will with the new directions.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Okay, So this episode is watched by one point five
seven million viewers, making it the lowest watched episode of
the series.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
So I heard a rumor this is not officially part
of the fun facts that oh why don't get in trouble? Okay,
but the debate for this episode was whether it was
going to be a b Backgrack episode or an Elton
John episode. What that is a rumor? I can either

(04:34):
confirm nor deny, but you know, so there's that interesting. Yeah.
This is the eleventh episode named after a song sung
in it the others being Home dream on silly love Songs.
Blame it on the alcohol Born this way, I kised
Girl Extraordinary, Merry Christmas, Diva all or Nothing and moving

(04:56):
out breath Jenna.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Whoa getting that b the control broatsu of work going
for your shows. This episode contains the show's seven hundredth
musical performance What the World needs Now? I like that.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
That's a seven hundredth performance.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
That feels nice.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Yeah, okay. This is the first episode of season six
in which Rachel sings a duet, a solo, and has
a solo and a group number. The last episode that
happened was New New York and season five a twelve
episode gap.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
The Thing Gave Me Said? For Sam, Who's sang a solo,
a duet with Rachel, and a solo and a group
number and his last episode where he this occurred for
him was in Guilty Pleasures in season four a thirty
one episode gap.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
This episode features Santana's first solo since Frenemies and first
solo of season six.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh Wow. This episode marks the last time we see
Britney's talk show Oh Fondue for too arip.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
This is also Santana's and Sam's final solos in the series.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
That is momentous.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Don't like it?

Speaker 1 (05:56):
No, I'm not here for that. This also marks the
last appearance of Britney's cat Lord Tumington, as well as
Lady Tummington.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
This is the first time Will sings this season.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Whoa. These are blowing my mind. This is the last
tribute episode of the series.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Strange. This is the last episode to show Already out
of his wheelchair.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
For Ah that happened? Yeah, We're gonna talk about that.
With eight songs, this episode is the most released songs
this season.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Well Bert deserves it. Yeah, Kurt and Mercedes clothes during
What the World Needs Now are the ones they wore
in the Glee season six photo shoot. Blaine wears his
and Will and Emma's apartment. Okay. Episode summary, Brittany and

(06:51):
Santana have some family convincing to do that's a crazy sentence. Meanwhile,
during a Burt Backrack tribute week, Mercedes returns to Ohio
to convince Rachel to sue her Broadway dreams. Yes, this
is what I needed, this is what I wanted. Last
week you won.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Okay, I didn't know that we did a backac episode.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I did, but I had never seen it.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Right, And last week we mentioned that, like you're back,
and you're like, I am. Do you know this?

Speaker 2 (07:19):
So this is the first episode in which I truly
have no memory of doing anything in this episode except
the rehearsal.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
In shooting Dance of Your Dance.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
No, No, I didn't even remember getting up. I just
remember seeing everybody in their costumes. That's all every scene
I mean I have. It's really terrifying. I remember not
like you know, it's happened a little bit here and there,

(07:55):
Like I remember the scene, not a one. And I'm
in this episode where.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
A fever dream for you clearly area.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
It's so disturbing. I don't remember being the wedding planner,
like what.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
I always I think, like I usually remember my storylines,
probably because I didn't have that many, so like I
just I think, like I remember all the things that
I do. But like that's funny, that's.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, I don't have a lot of storyline either, and
I should remember this.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
You have more storyline than did.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
I do. Like, well, we'll get to me, but yeah,
I don't. I don't really Well, let's talk about it,
so no disturbing.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Let's start with the the Rachel of it all. So
they obviously win at invitationals because of their devious plan
to click into s U's emotional folder locked folder uh
and Kurt and Rachel are planning for a backrock week

(09:02):
for sectionals and Miss Mercedes Jones is back hooray?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Why is already there in the corner? Like why is Arnie?

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Literally? But it's funny because the alumni just like show
up and they pan to the to the choir room
and there's like magically like half of like the alums
just there. I'm like, what are they doing? And like,
do I also appreciate Kitty was a kiddy who was like,
you didn't have anything to do anyway, because like, what
are you guys doing? Aren't you in school?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Are you?

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Like? I don't know, is it spring break?

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Sure? Whatever you wanted to be.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
It was like, what is happening there? But anyway, it's
funny and I like it. Mercedes is back.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
And that's the moral of the story. We need Mercedes back.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Mercedes is here and her and Rachel are gonna have
this huge, like very sweet story arc, which I really
some of it was like I was very freaked out
about and I'll like, I'll tell you why, and some
of it I thought was really great. It's it's not.
It doesn't feel like in character for Mercedes to be

(10:16):
so gung ho about getting Rachel back on board to
go to New York. I don't know why that felt
strange to me.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
I think you're wrong.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Look, I could be wrong.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I'm wrong.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
I I just feel I feel.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Okay, this is a safe space, but share.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Okay, fine, I feel that it's not. It just felt
a little off the cuff for me, like it didn't
feel in line with like what we've been seeing from
Mercedes lately, not that she's like she's a good person
like that. I'm not saying that. I just felt like,
out of nowhere, she's like making it her life's business,

(10:57):
like make get Rachel back home. Like that feels like
a Kurt thing to me, not a Mercedes thing anyway.
I the thing that got me more that like I
was just weirded out about was like them talking so
nonchalantly in the first half of the episode about like

(11:17):
Rachel and Sam getting together, like getting back out there
and being like, I obviously it's Rachel, Like yes, they
do say along the way, which we we'll get to
like the you know, I'm a little bit jealous and
that's a good thing, and you know they're they're really

(11:38):
reaching like a friend zone where they care about each other.
But it just felt like we're still people, still have
these feelings and it was so fresh, like this wasn't
them that long ago, and for her to be like
buying for Rachel to go to New York and like
live or dreams and feeling like take the boyfriend that

(11:59):
I I loved so deeply, but like we just didn't
align on our values, so like it wasn't even that
they didn't care about each other, and it ended badly.
They just like their values didn't align. So I would
imagine that would be even harder to see them move
on to somebody else, because it's like there was nothing
that was really like wrong within the relationship. It was
just like the core values of which like they were

(12:20):
not aligned, and so it just felt off to me.
I didn't fullyeve it wrong. I didn't fully believe it.
I didn't believe it. Now. Do I love this whole?
Like seeing everybody together? Do I like the trio? Do
I like Sam and Rachel and Rachel and Mercedes and
Mercedes and Sam? Yes, I do. I enjoyed watching it.

(12:42):
It was just the actual storyline that I felt wasn't exactly.
I wasn't like, oh I believe that.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
No, I get it. I'm kidding. I'm not saying you're
actually wrong. I fully get it.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
And their performances were great. I just it just was
like a little weird to me.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
My counterpoint to this, Okay, go for it, go for it,
is that if you are Mercedes, you know, we've skipped
time a little bit here, and she's been on tour,
she's enjoying success, she has started dating other people. She's
found somebody that aligns with her values, which is a

(13:21):
foundational issue. Like I know there was no emotional issues
with their relationship, but ultimately there was like a huge yes, yes, yes, yes,
a great And I feel like when you are like
on the up and up and you're like feeling all
these positive vibes and everything is sort of you know,

(13:44):
going ultimately well, not saying mercedes life is perfect at
the moment, but like it's finally her career has taken off,
her love life is taken off. She's having fun, she's
feeling good. And when you're in that place, I think
it's easier for you to look around to those who
you love and who are closest to you and then

(14:05):
want the same for them. And I feel like I
feel like that's what it is where, you know, if
she was not in such a great place, it would
definitely be much harder for her to like encourage Rachel
and to encourage Sam to be together. But because she's
like she's fine, right, and sure it may sting a
little bit still, but it's like she's living her dreams.

(14:29):
And then yeah, in regards to Rachel, like she's Mercedes
is living her dreams and it's easy then to look
at Rachel and be like, oh, she needs to be
doing this. I know she's in a funk right now,
but when you are not in that funk, it's so
clear yeah to you. Yeah, to be like I got
to help her out.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
I will say the Mercedes Rachel seeing Atia and where
Rachel's about to go off to her audition and like
that like vulnerable Rachel, and then also the Mercedes of
like just like support her. I did love Like It's
not that I didn't like this storyline, it just felt
a little like I was like, why is she so
gung ho?

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Yeah, but the girls always step up, like I know,
you're right, they always doing it for themselves.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
I love it, you know, I'm here for it. I
just I was just stating an observation, you know what.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
You know. What made me like I feel some type
of way or it stuck out to me was when
Mercedes was performing her number for Rachel, but Rachel was
in the background. We never see Rachel doing that.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I know. I was going to stay like, we haven't
seen that and why I liked it, but we just
never see that, yeah for sure?

Speaker 2 (15:42):
And and can we just have a couple moments for
the silence, for the.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Hair, for the hair, all of them.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Just for all those the beehive wigs.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
It also did remind me of the number we did,
uh in the Dream Girl's number for Mercedes. I can't
remember the name of it, but when we were all
in the pink and we all had those pive hairs.
So anyway, yeah, let's have a moment of silence for that.
All right, Okay, all right, So Mercedes is gonna make

(16:17):
it her mission to get Rachel back to New York.
She's heard about this audition. She wants to make Rachel
nostalgic for New York, so of course she gets everybody
together to perform Arthur's theme where you all real cute
and the New York thing is real cute. It's I
liked it. I appreciate I thought that number was adorable.

(16:41):
I remember seeing pictures of that, like BTS pictures of
that for some reason and being like, I wonder what
they're doing.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Uh, yeah, it was really sweet, and I like there
again it started to sort of like not at me
a tiny bit when she's just like so dismissive of it.
But it's also like Mercedes here said no and you're
doing it again. It's like, no, this is hard. No,
but we get promises, promises after we get that scene

(17:16):
of her, like Leah crying, Oh lord.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
I just I'm also it's not like a crying where
like she's it is the most vulnerable cry we've seen
for Rachel Rachel in quite a bit of time in
this in circumstance, and like, it was so cool. It's
so refreshing to see Rachel like that when she's scared,
because she's always so sure and she even said it
in her speech like I'm always like usually just going

(17:44):
to show everybody that they're wrong. But her feeling so
scared about it was like there's something so deeply vulnerable
that like plucked at the heart strings that you just
like then you're like, I want her her just sicksed
a thousand times over in this, you know what I mean,
You just want to watch her win, and like overcome.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
That, you want to watch her win more than ever
because you know, it's like she's not she hasn't always
been the most likable character. And then she does ultimately
win really easily, right, and for her to have this
and it's a complicated thing. I think to explain to
people who are not in the entertainment business of that
type of success and then fall yes and then back

(18:26):
trying to rebuild yourself is a common thing that happens,
and it sounds so ungrateful and like, oh, Champagne problems.
You're trying to explain that process to people, But if yes,
And I think it's written so well and the reason
like how she is she writes off all those things
that Mercedes is doing for her so quickly because she
doesn't want to deal with it, and then it justifies

(18:49):
that emotional breakdown and Leah does. I mean, it's a
beautiful rush.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Crush and then in to promises promises, which is so
much fun and like oh that last note and also
like all the different locations sound.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
I got, got those flashbacks got me?

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Those were good. We never see Rachel flashbacks like that.
We usually are like used to seeing like either Finn
flashbacks like that right now, So like that was really
refreshing too. I really appreciated the editing and this and
like I just I thought it was really great and
I love that song just crushing at this episode really good.
And then also like we skipped over it, but we

(19:29):
out the gate. We were unlike her Locker, where we
were waiting for songs for a song twenty minutes into
the episode, this one was out the gate. I'll Never
fall in Love again with Sweet Sam and Rachel love
this song, love them on it. I thought this was
great for their voices. They sound so nice together.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
And it's perfect for the storyline. Yes, it's like, I
don't know what came first, this storyline or trying to
get this, you know, trying to get this song. It
doesn't matter. It worked either way. And like having that
little number with all the couples walking around and then
both bailing their supposed date was really cute, yes, and

(20:13):
so you know, and having Mercedes there to sort of
ease them into this new dating world together was just
really really sweet. And then Sam has such a beautiful
number by himself. He does close to You, which is
I It's one of my favorite songs. I love the

(20:35):
Carpenters so much. And Frank Ocean has an incredible version
of this song. If you don't know what you should,
It's so good and I love chords version of it.
I was hoping that we might get a little Mercedes
Sam do it all a human nature on the stage.

(20:56):
But I still love it as just you know, a
chord cover so good and they have such a sweet
scene together on the auditorium stage. It's just so mature
and you know you practiced it earlier, having the little
like they're both a little jealous of one another. Yeah,
and that's cute because it also feels like, yeah, the

(21:19):
relationship meant something. They still have to get over something,
but they're having the support of one another in each
other's lives.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Still I'm still mourning their relationship. Maybe that's why I'm
resisting the Mercedes. Like trying to get Rachel and Sam
together so much is like, oh, I'm full of it
because I love Sam and Mercedes so much. But like
I I enjoyed watching this as well, like that, you know,
but anything with them together, it's just like so good

(21:46):
and so cute.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
So cute. But to wrap up that sort of situation,
they Rachel and Sam agree with Mercedes support to go
on a date.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Next Thursday, which is our sharing on Thursdays.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Friday, somebody said Friday, so we're gonna see what's gonna happen.
But it's happening.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
It is happening. I don't know how much of this
is gonna happen, and I don't know how much of
it I'm in. I'm into, but I we don't have
much more time, so so we'll see once again. Like Clane,

(22:34):
I'm just like, uh, I'm like, give me all of
the couples, Like, give me all of the couples. I'm
so happy to see it all. We're leading up to
the wedding. We're getting there. Obviously they are engaged now
and Brittany has she's hired Hardy as their wedding planner.
But prior to that, we we meet Britney's parents, who

(22:56):
we will see again at the wedding, and it's it's
Jennifer cool j and Ken Jong and my god, that scene.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Was out of this world so weird.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Well, first of all, can we talk about the fact
that Brittany's dad is actually well, first that she didn't
know that Ken wasn't actually her dad, and he didn't
know either.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
And that's Stephen Hawking.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Stephen Hockey is her father, which like makes sense for
the genius part of it, but like, let's this is weird.
This is really really weird.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Like I didn't I've never known that like that is
glee Loore.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
I was like that is that fan fistion because but
Ken's delivery in this In this scene, Jennifer cool Itge
is also just a goddess. But like Ken acting so dumb.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
It's like, yeah, sixty, my like he was sixty.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
He's like really like She's like what we talked about
this like a lot every day. It's such a good pairing,
all three of them together in a scene like what
a dream? Okay. So she tells her parents that she's
getting married after she learns to Stephen Hawking as her dad,
and they're so excited, and then she asks Artie to

(24:10):
be the wedding planner. So you're back, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
I'm back because Brittany tells me I've had nothing else
to do this year.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
No, it's Britney not kidding, okay.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Which is correct. And she's listing, you know, the words
that make her think of Santana, and we land on
heaven and then we go into a dream sequence.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Which I didn't know you like you get up and
dance again?

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Yeah, nor did I because I've been telling people the
wrong number of dream sequences I've had.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
That's what just skips completely.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
I don't even remember singing on any songs in this episode.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
That's bad. I will say, I don't have a full
memory of the wedding, even like it's all coming back
to me. It's coming back to me.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
I remember the wedding clearly.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Because there's so many behind the scenes things that happened.
That's the only reason I remember the weddings because of
all the behind the scenes that happened.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Oh, we were shooting in Santa Clarita, so I remember
it all.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Yeah, that's right, that's it. We'll get there.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
We just keep talking about the wedding.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
I know, I know, we're like getting too excited about it.
So uh you guys do wish and open adorable all.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Our friends there you see Britney Parks was there?

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Head many angelic? You look great?

Speaker 2 (25:35):
I look interesting.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
What was that outfit?

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I don't know. It looks like I'm wearing my dad's clothes.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
Look still fitting for you. I thought that it was
a little big on you. Maybe I'm just used to
you wearing more fitted clothing now, But I was like,
why is her suit looks so large? Were you going
for the nineties slow?

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I don't know, And I'm all like hunched over and
so it's like I didn't know how to like move
my body. I'm not at that point. I was not
used to like dancing outside of the wheelchair. I just didn't.
I was. I do remember being so uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Had wings on, I don't know it was and there
were swings. They should have just put you.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
On a swing, and Darren was there and Cord was there.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
I was like, why isn't already sitting in a swing
right now? I would have loved to see you swing
on a swing.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Yeah, I don't. I mean it was a gray.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Number and it was really adorable. I just I was like,
his outfit was.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
Me walking was not necessary.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
But it was a dream sequence, so I guess it
was like, yay dream sequence that Sue has access to, right,
But I liked it.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I do remember all of us boys were like what
we were even, like what's going?

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Where are we? Yeah? There's a lot of like putting
people in places that you're like, oh, I guess Blaine's
there in this episode, do you know what I mean?
A lot of like, oh, girth there.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
It was like we're paying them them.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
Yeah. I was like, I wonder if they were written
into these scenes or they were added later because that
was always a fun thing too, and the add you
leader and you're like, damn it, we do get caso
for poor dos in this because Brittany, they're talking about
the Santana and Brittany, you're talking about the guest list,
and obviously a Buila and Santana have not aired out

(27:26):
their their issues or a waitlist. So she's with the
Antenna brother and so she decides that she's going to
go visit and pretend to be her nurse, just a
candy strapper nurse.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
And uh talks her way into that house.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Talks herway into that house. Brittany decides that she is
going to woo her. I get a Willa to like,
get to know her, to like her, and then she's
going to just flip the switch on her and surprise her.
But prior to that, she they they bond and they
become friends and Oila is very funny and she does

(28:06):
she might drink so Portos.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Which is an incredible episode of for two.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
It's perfect, it's perfect, it's really funny.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Heathery had to speak a lot of Spanish in this
and it's very good. And she got picked up by univision.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
It's very good.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
I'm telling you Fondu for two needs to exist today.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
We need to call Heather so insane. I also love
that the cheese is always too hot to eat. That
I love. I appreciate that gag. Oh wait, the repetitive gag.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah, I do too, And like Jenna personally, I think
would also love some like hot cheese.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Me.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Yeah, oh, I just see you like going in on
some hot cheese.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Yeah, we couldn't eat the one and fond you for
too that it wasn't it wasn't really edible. I don't
think I didn't need it.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Growth Do you like fondu though in general?

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Yeah? Yeah, for sure. I just I didn't like it,
of course, do you know me? Yes? Okay, So we
then bring the bond and now Brittany's going to perform
get Santana to perform for a boila with the whole fire.
She looked great.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
I mean Santana like went from watching fon du for
two two and like being against the whole thing. And
because Brittany clearly did not clear this with her before
attempting this, how do you do do? Yeah? And then
Brittany explains to reasoning which is so sweet and.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Right, I skipped over that.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Sorry, right, No, you're good. And then we get her
in the auditorium and Santana comes out and now Ayad
just sings her face off to Alfie off in a
beautiful dress.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
With everybody behind her, and it's really great. I for
sure thought a way that was going to come through
at that moment. It had been a while. I thought
she was gonna be like, you do this and you
you know, you bait and switch me, but like, of
course I'm gonna like thanks for the lasson. So I

(30:19):
was disappointed.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
I know this sounds crazy because I'm in the scene,
but but because I have no memory of it, I'm
speaking objectively here. I didn't think she was going to
come through because it's always you know, I think it's
a lot of times in the show things do work
out and it's nice.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
I'm here for the journey.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Yeah. I really liked it, and I loved Britney sort
of being rude and firing back at her and Santana
being like, this is my family now. Yeah, and it was.
It was nice to seek Brittany does this time and
time again, where Santana is this like the strongest, loudest
character and glee right, and every time she's had any

(31:08):
sort of like doubt or like stadnus, Brittany is there
to like back her up and like be her biggest cheerleader. Yeah,
and here she is again doing it again.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
This is why we love them, And she does it
again and in like the biggest way. And sometimes I think,
like also Santana, I could get mad at her for
doing all of this because it's just so bold, Like
it's really bold, especially with this storyline, but I think
Brittany is willing to take those risks. She just like

(31:42):
goes for it.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Well, they know each other so well and they know
when they need it and yeah, yeah, yeah, like Santana
does just like sort of blindly accept what Brittany's doing
because she knows her intention is always good good yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
And and I yeah, I'm here for it. I'm here
for like the whole the whole thing. And I feel
like I'm they're reclaiming their power as a couple.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
And it's also a storyline that is still prevalent today,
like not everybody is going to accept you, you and
the person you're with.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
And like having each other as actually.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Yes and like you know, that's what like Chosen Family
is all about, and making your family outside the confines
of the homes you know, we were brought up in sometimes.
So it's I think it's an important story to tell,
and I think it's important that Santana was the character
that had, you know, this going on in her family
and like you just had it in good hands. And

(32:44):
I think they've done yeah, like the they've done it service,
you know, in the whole coming Out episode where there's
lots of controversy about that or since then, I think
they've done such a real.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
We've made up for lost time, yeah, exactly. And then
and then we get this final song, which is really
funny because Santana's like, let's just go humor a bunch
of toned up losers by acting surprised when we walk
in the auditorium. And it's really sweet though, like everybody's
showing up for them and like, you know, even when

(33:16):
they're I think Blaine says, like the pain in your
eyes when you're not fooling anybody, Like you think you're
fooling everyone, but you're not, And like everybody just showing
up for them, and you guys singing what the world
needs now, and this montage of when I'm going to
mister Shoe's house and like the baby and everybody coming together,
and like it feels feels like a quintessential ending to

(33:38):
a Glee episode, like a happy Flee episode. And I
do think it needed a little bit of feel good
after that because of the downer that a boylas and
the the challenges that they've been through. But like I
once again, the Brittany Santana of it all, it's just
like makes my heart. I'm so happy.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
I also, I'm just I was just thinking about how
crazy the things Brittany said to a Baila was, like
we're waiting for like like we won, you lost, were
waiting for you guys to die out.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Basically, I know the generation the generational thing.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Yeah, but you know, just like that say it.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Let her speak.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
However, m it does feel like we're regressing a little bit. Irl.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Wow, that's for another day, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Sorry, it's hard for me not to like, No, I know,
it's so it's like, since we've gotten into twenty twenty
five and watching this show now feels different because we
were doing this this recap podcast under a different administration.
I know that's not what the show is about.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
No, I know, but we were just making so much
progress during this time, and it felt like we were
bringing stories to light that felt like they were going
to hopefully be we could look back on them and
say like, look how far we've come, And here we
are saying like, look how far we have to go.
And so it's it's depressing.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Yeah, and it just makes me worried. It makes me
worried for like the playlists out there who feel more
supported in their views right now, when like what Brittany
and Santana we're saying, it was like, we're not trying
to be in anybody's faces. We're just trying to like
be treated fairly and live our lives. And you also

(35:34):
see with like younger kids now that are like sort
of agreeing with them, and it's like a sharp turn
and I makes me a little makes me a lot
of scared. And so you know, those of you who
are out there who are listening and are worried and
scared and are part of you know, the magical LGBT
community there, we are all still here and there's a

(35:58):
lot of us all around the world, and you have
to like when things seem so daunting, like they can
and do right now, you start local, start with your friends,
start in your communities, and take care of each other.
And then by leading by that example, it spreads. So
I think right now it feels like like what can
we do? How do we protect each other? It's like,

(36:20):
just protect each other, just you know, find your people,
stay with your people, and through that we will all
get through this. But watching this show it gives me
hope and also makes me sad right now. So yeah,
it's a good reminder.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
It is a good reminder, good reminder sadly. Yeah, do
you want to write some songs?

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Okay? Sorry I did that.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
No, I think it's important. Let's just write some songs
so we can uh, okay, we can talk about some music.
It makes us feel better about the stay of the world.
And you know, you stay on that cellbacks giving you're going.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
No, I was gonna saying, I know it's controversial that
we didn't do an Elton episode, if that rumor is true,
but Burt backrack Bangers.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Bangers Bangers, I was like, oh my god, we haven't.
Why had we not done this sooner?

Speaker 2 (37:16):
But like, also, we should have done an episode.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Absolutely both and you know that end. Okay, I'll never
fall in love again. A A baby, it's you.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
A that that Amber vocal stupid.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
It's unbelievable, wishing and hoping, A B plus B plus.
Arthur's theme was yeah A minus. Uh they long to
be close to you, A promised promises A plus, Alphie
A plus plus and what the world needs now, hey

(37:55):
look at that, Kevin. We are very in sync on
this episode.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Oh my god, I love and sync me too.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
Let's do some party. So there are some cringe moments,
there wasn't anything like really crazy I did. It wasn't
an OUCHI as much as the thing of them, like
Mercedes and Sam talking about the tank. I was like,
what is happening right now? Can we just skip over there?

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Can we just keep calling? I think I might have
looked down at my phone ver it's like and it
looked up like like what I.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Was like, is this what we're really talking about? And
then also calling Stephen Hawking a root.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yeah I didn't like that.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
No Nosa best dance move. Okay, wait, we didn't talk
about this. So inuition and hope and which is I
give an A plus plus dance move was she she
literally lifts you up in the air like a baby
and you wrap yourself around her, which I think you
would normally done anyway as Kevin, but I.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
Just exactly what they did it. I did love that.
I again I didn't remember it, and watching it, I
was like, oh, that's funny.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
It's very funny and very me very I was like, oh,
this is something that you guys preform wrack out and
they kept it this song.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
Oh close, I have a three way tie.

Speaker 1 (39:22):
ALFI promises, promises and baby it's you.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
No, oh, ALFI promises promises and close to you.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
WHOA, that's a good one. I agree with that. I
think Alfie, though I don't know actually promises promises. God,
I know that was really good. Okay, performance by a.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Prop I mean god, I mean all of Pordos like
there was a lot happening. Pinad does Marac Maraccas. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
I was like that too, oh got it gets yeah, yeah,
it's dressed all of fond for t Wait.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
You know what we didn't hold on you. What we
skipped over was Britney showing back up at McKinley and
she has all the Latin fans signing autographs and also
I was.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Like, no, no.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
No, I'm like, you're telling me we've had them all along,
but we've only seen white kids in this school.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
Mm hmmm mm hm, No, we haven't had them.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
I actually think I will vote for the prop is
the autograph photo and also the bouquet that I've throw
up to Brittany.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Oh yeah, that was a good one. That was a
good one. The best line.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
There's a lot in this episode.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
There's a lot. Honestly, I'm going emotional and I'm going
with well, first of all, welcome to Case over Portos,
which I just loilt the univision.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
That's my favorite and the one for me, and then
the other one.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Is just uh the the Britney Santana speaking to a boiler.
That whole thing like that back and forth I thought
was like a plus plus.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
I also liked the bit at the end of the
episode with everybody speaking up about what family is. I think,
you know, back to my soapbox moment. That's important. That's
an important lesson to carry with us.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
Yes, there was also the scene where you walk into
or you roll into Hemo's room, Britney's room, and you're like,
I've been in here before we've dated. We dated for
like three months. She was like, I think I would
have remembered if I dated a guy with glasses.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Yes, I love that joke.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Funny. Oh god, Brittany okay, Foreman's MVP Man Brittany Heather
Moras heah yeah and Amber Yeah, the girls give.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
It to the girls. Always give it to the girls.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
Give it to the girls. Okay, that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
That was. I'm glad we enjoyed that. I was really
worried there for a little bit with part one. Yes, Okay,
so ship we found on TikTok Gracie. So have you
seen the videos of the guests on the Jenifer Hudson show.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
Yes, and they walked down the aisle dancing.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
They have like the soul tray line and the you know,
the staff is like singing.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
So this one is a compilation of different people going
down and it's how I think the gleek characters would walk.
The spirit tunnel is what it's called. And it is
so accurate. You have and Mercedes Tina, these are good.

(43:00):
Rachel sam Is like, all of these are so so
spot on. This is crazy. You you guys need to
watch it. Because it is absolutely accurate. I can't get
I've watched it so many times it's a little embarrassing
because it's good. It's really satisfying. So next week we

(43:27):
have transitioning, big episode, big episode. Yeah, and Alex is back,
Jaima is back. We have all about that bass so
oh and I know where I've been. Oh, just okay,
And if you're watching it along with us, I don't
know if you're familiar with drag Race, but there is

(43:48):
drag race royalty in that choir for I know where
I've been. Oh, keep your eyes peeled royalty, your drag
Queen's favorite drag queen is in that.

Speaker 1 (44:02):
You keep your eyes And we'll talk about it next week.
Thanks for joining us, you guys for that episode, which
we enjoyed, and we will be back for I don't
know what to expect for transitioning, but I'm here for it.
I'm nervous too, Okay, I'm just I'm going into it.
