Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Are You Kidding? Podcast? I can listen with
my kids. Come on kids with brothers Sebastian and Brandon Martinez.
Who are kids helping kids? What's up? Guys? My day
is Brandon Martinez from the Are You Kidding? Podcast? I'm
here with my brother Sebastian Martinez and I'm the CEO
of Are You Kidding? Song? And on today's episode, we
are joined by John Leguizamo. For those of you who

(00:21):
do not know who John Leguzamo is, He's an actor
who has been in many movies. I said with this voice,
that's right. I would sit this suf Mannie. What's coming?
What's our dig table too? Cago? I don't like him?
Look at him? You right? You know who it is.
I bet right now you're having that all. I love
that moment right now. And for everyone else. Some of

(00:43):
the movies you may know. Our new friends are our
Super Mario Brothers, Carlito's Way Spawn, John Wick one and
two and so many more. And I'd love to introduce
our new friend John like Usama, Hey, what's up, buddy?
How you doing? Actual media? Pleasure me too? Very entrepreneurial.
Thank you, And it says on your business card. I
like that. Thank you. So I want to thank you

(01:04):
for being here and helping us, like like, support our
podcast and help think. I love your cause, man, I
love that you guys wanted to do make a difference
in the world, and you weren't sitting at home playing
video games and you came up with this idea to
sell socks to to make a better world. Yeah, we
want to thank you for taking your time to come

(01:25):
to this podcast and help support us. Yeah, whatever I
can do to help you out, man, I love your cause.
Thank you, Thank you. How was your day today? My
day is started very early. I was and that was
a lot of fun. And then I came here to
Enrique Santo's I Heart Radio to do this and then
I'll be going to CNN. And how is your time

(01:46):
here in hot sunny Miami. Oh it was good. I
was at the pool yesterday to pool was good. It
was a good pooling. And then I went to the
Latin Cafe on Biscape Boulevard, which I love to visit
when I'm Yeah, I don't think i've been there before.
I had the parago. How good was that? I was real,

(02:06):
real good. I was craving some I don't know what
that is. What sounds good, you know, uh, pinto beans
or whatever they are. No, I don't know what that is.
Beans beans, beans. Okay, yeah, you eat that. You don't
need Spanish food? Yeah, I do. So. Grandma comes like

(02:30):
once a week, um on weekends and we here. Oh no, no,
my mom's is the best. My mom's makes the best
art row compoil in the in the world. Man, what
would you have a competition? And we should for real? Alright,
let's it's on. It's on. Let's see whose mom and
grandma makes that makes the best arrow Compoio. Alright, we

(02:54):
got that. We know that you are very big and
helping young children have free summer experiences and make sure
that kids excel academically in their communities. Why don't you
tell us more about that? Uh yeah, well, you know,
part of my show, the whole reason of the being
of the show is to make history more accept palatable,
interesting to kids. So I made it as funny as

(03:16):
possible talking about you know that that Latin people fought
in the American Revolutionary War ten thousand of us for
twenty thousand and fought in the Civil War. Uh, five
thousand of us fought in the sacrificed our lives in
World War Two. So you know, I bring out some
heroes our empires, you know, like the Tanos were three
million in the Caribbean, thirty three million Incas in South America,

(03:39):
thirty million Aztecs in Mexico. Uh we gave the world chocolate, avocado, papaya, anesthesia,
brain surgery, uh canoes, tobacco. Uh we get cheekly. Gum
is an Aztec word from mouth the invented The Aztecs
invented gum. Can you believe that? So it's like how

(04:00):
the world grew from like as it started. It's grown
so much. The world's grown so much, and we contributed
to the making of the world. That's what I wanna
impart is that we helped the world be what it
is today. If it wasn't for us, the world wouldn't
be as as powerful as big as without Latin influence exactly.
And we're gonna this year, we're actually starting our stand

(04:21):
Up to Cancer campaign. It's gonna be national saw cops
and saw Cops is when you dance, take off your
shoes and dance in your stand up to cancer and
those bailing cancer and what what beat do you dance to?
Mostly let he was hot, broro he got it? And um,

(04:56):
these are new Stand Up to Cancer socks. Oh those
are dope? How those are? Yeah, we're gonna be donating
the money back to the Stand Up to Cancer. And
here's a little information about the socks. The arrows because
the Stand Up to Cancer the logos like the arrows.
And also on the bottom was at the bottom of
the sock you can see that there's a poppy flyer

(05:18):
because more of the ive been stretching the people who
have been impacted by Stand Up to Cancer. Her name
was Poppy and she actually helped create the song. And
we don't need the money back. We don't actually the
proceeds back to the foundation. You guys are impressive man,
Thank you. All right, Well, I have a question for you.
Have you been impacted by cancer, whether it was personally

(05:40):
or somebody who met Obviously, I mean my grandmother passed
from cancer, so you know, I'm well aware of the
horrors of it and we need to do everything we
can to to prevent it or to treat people who
are suffering. I really think it's important to donate back
to like foundations set up to cancer so we can

(06:01):
always help and try to find a cure for cancer.
And you never know, one day will need hope, right right,
hopefully not hopefully not, but you know, yeah, but then
those institutions will be in place for us in case
we do. Hopefully one day we can find a cure. Yeah, yeah,
I mean hopefully it's not too long in the future.
I have a question, what inspired you to be an actor? Um? Well,

(06:23):
the various things I was. I was a class clown
and a troublemaker and a problem child, and somehow I
finally learned to use my skills for good instead of
for being disruptive in school. And all of a sudden,
I became a comedian and an actor, and I started

(06:44):
writing my own stuff, and I made enough money to
buy myself several homes. Well, thank you John for being here,
and thank you for coming and talking on our podcast.
Thank you for being of many of many. I can
feel it, I can. You guys are gonna have big
success with us give us. Say you're a teacher and
you're grading our podcast as it was a test. What

(07:04):
would you go, Oh, Wow, I'm a tough teacher. I'm
a tough grader. But you guys came out of the
gate with flying colors. Man, I I give you guys
an a plus. Thank you so seriously, I mean because
because you keep it moving. You got your inform, you
got your information, you were prepared, you're you're spontaneous, your
improv you dance well, you talk well. If you just
