Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey guys, this is Neil Simone with a T and
T Black Future Makers presented by a T and T
dreaming Black. We're talking with black creators who are shaping
the now, the new, and the next for the culture.
It's black to business, y'all. I have the pleasure of
interviewing with Erica Alexander. I'm super honored to be up

(00:23):
here sitting with you. Thank you. I appreciate it. So
who is Erica Alexander without TV and film? I am
a lover of ideas and I'm a student of design
and the third reconstruction. What are some misconceptions about the
work that you're doing? Probably the trust level for a
lot of people have issues with that. Certainly artist they's

(00:45):
on they're gonna steal, this is gonna steal that. No
nobody really wants to steal your idea and no ideas trademarketable,
but your execution of it is. And so you should
get on with it, and you're going to need other
people to do it. A lot of the things that
undo a project or their goal is because they didn't
handle business. How do you handle mentorship? By love mentorship?
I speak very directly and straightforward because This business is

(01:09):
very self identifying. Anybody can join it. The problem is
that most people will not succeed in it. I try
to tell them the truth because I want them to succeed,
and I try to give them a few habits I'll
see over a week or even a month if they
can't continue that of course not for them, and they
don't know what yet. I believe that it's important that
what you give you get to keep. So thirty seconds

(01:31):
or less, share your formula for success. Everything takes a
lot longer than you think, and you better get on
with it and stop asking permission and thinking anything's perfect.
The best version of what you're going to do doesn't exist,
but the version you need right now to move forward does.
