(00:20):
are on the ride.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Is Shagara Poppy. I am a current NBA candidate at
the One and Only Prayer of You and M University
studying Business administration with a focus in entrepreneurship.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
So what does it mean to be a rising future Maker?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Honestly, it means everything to me. It's just so nice
to be able to be surrounded by people that see
your rise and they see who you are and they
like you know what. I support that.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
So far in your journey and on your rise, have
you had any mentors who contribute and help change your
life for the better.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
My biggest mentors are my two older sisters, doctor Jennifer Johnson,
she works at Baylor University in higher education, at my
eldest sister, she works in public health and urban regional planning.
And with my big sisters along my side, there's nothing
that I can't do.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
What would you say is your superpower?

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think my superpower in all the things that I
do is the fact that I am a single mom,
and I think a lot of the times when you're
faced with the decision of do I keep going, do
I quit? Do I give up? You have a lot
of people who doubt you. It almost kind of lit
a fire under me to be more than what I
was in the beginning.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
After I had my son complete this sentence. Connecting blank changes.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Blank, Connecting stories changes perspectives, period.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Very well said. Thank you so much, Poppy.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
This is a great experience.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I'm just happy to share a little bit more about
who I am.
