got going on.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Now.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
I know there's been rumors that some men from Jones
season are potentially dating some women from Gary season, So
we'll get all into that and we hope you guys
enjoy it. Let's get into it.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Let's get into it.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Okay, we are here with Jordan from the Jones season
of The Golden Bachelorette. Jordan, welcome to Bachelor Happy Hour.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Well, thanks for having me. Glad to be here.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
I can't believe this is your first time here, considering
you made it to hometowns and we haven't had the
chance to chat with you yet.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
Yes, well that's why I'm glad we finally did it.
Let's let's get to it all right.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
So yeah, me too, because all season I was I
was watching you.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I'm like, no, oh, season, like literally since when the
headshots got released.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, I was like I know this, I know this right.
So I'm going back and forth. I'm like, I don't
I feel like he may have worked at the Murk.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
And I was really really good with faces. And then
I'm like, it's weird that he couldn't like place it.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
So then I'm like, but maybe, I'm he probably just
works out at East Bank Club and I've seen him there.
And then when it was your hometown, I saw your
brother and I was like, okay then and then so
then I called I called up my cousin Louis, and
I was like, hey, lou do you remember He's like, yeah,
he's on the Golden He's on the Golden Bachelor, Golden
(01:43):
Batchler or whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
I was like, oh, yeah, I can't believe that didn't
come up earlier.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
I know. So, Jordan, you used to work used to
work in the euro dollars, right.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Yeah, So I was in the Euros for a long
time and then you know, I worked with your cousins,
you know, for fifteen years and actually Lou actually worked
for my brother, which was a crazy I know first
boss is his first boss was my brother, which is
also an interesting story to begin with. But you mentioned
it when when the when the cast came out. You're like,
(02:13):
I think I know this guy, and I actually message
you on Instagram. I'm like, you know, we definitely have
crossed paths, and because not just that. You know, I
go to parlor and I see my girls with my girls,
and we saw you at parlor, and my girls were
in love with you. Obviously they had to go run
up and said hi. I didn't run up to say
hi to you, but my girls did. And then we
saw you again at the basement one night. Okay, so
(02:37):
you're like, I have seen me, but you've definitely seen
me around town.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, that's so funny. Oh my gosh, small city. I
always forget that.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
I think it's big, but it really isn't that. You know,
if you're downtown, especially, it's not that big.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Do you remember when I was working for Lloyd? Do
you remember that?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
I don't remember you working for Did you also work
for Packs too?
Speaker 6 (02:57):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:57):
I traded in the so I traded in the Nasdaq.
He was like eighteen then for four years, but I
clerked for I tracked Louis trades in the Euros and
the euros when I was so basically like seventeen, I
went down in the summer.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
What's in the euros like euro dollars dollar?
Speaker 5 (03:16):
Yeah, futures, And I probably moved because the Euros got
pretty pretty thin up there with traders.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
I went down to the Nastak and spooze.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Okay, yeah, wow, small world.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Anyways, I'm glad that we placed it though, because I
don't know. I just thought it was like, oh you
must yeah, like you must just work out at the
same gym or something, because you also go with faces.
But like the fact that it was just crazy. We're
sitting on the couch watching your hometown and Joe was like,
oh my god, I've been saying this for two months
and I had played fly placed.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Two of my three brothers were there too, so we
were you know, there's a lot of those family situations
down at the Murk.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
You see a lot of the same guys. We all
had darker hair then, but were memorable guys for sure.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah, it is a family, a family workplace.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
What was jumping a little ahead. Where was that rainbow cake?
What is this cake?
Speaker 5 (04:10):
When you come back, you have to get it. It's
it's got us in the baker, got us in the gross.
I'm a big cake lover and I try it wherever
I go. And that rainbow cake if you like that style,
which is a heavy butter cream birthday cake style.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Or whiting House absolutely final best there is. I've tried
it all over the world.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
So have you had the cake? Have you had the cake?
Toasted coconut cake at Polo Bar?
Speaker 4 (04:32):
No? Well, schedule now it's on the schedule for this week.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
You have to try it. It's stillicious. It's really had
far too.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
You know. I live right downtown, so it's close.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Where are you in the city.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
I'm running Screeederville right on the across from Navy here there.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yeah, I got it all right. So Jordan, how did
you How did you wind up going on the Golden
Bachelor at.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
So my youngest daughter signed me up. So this was
a pre pandemic.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
She watched an episode, you know, after one of the
Bachelor episodes, and they said you know, and she, unbeknownst
to me, sent in a few Instagram photos and a
little blurb and then you know, four years later they
contacted me, and I think, like and some of the
other guys, I thought it was a gag guy who's
calling me from the Golden Batch, right, didn't you know?
And then finally I said to my girls, I'm like,
did when you guys sign me up for this thing?
(05:22):
And my youngest daughter Jamie said, I did, but it
was four years ago, so you know, once I found
out it was real, I was like, wow, you know,
I'll play a lot.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
I'm single, so let's you know, let's see where this goes.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
That is wild. I applied for the show in the
heart of the pandemic and so did you. And it's
just crazy how like the timeline's unfolded like four. She
must have been like, I literally forgot I did that.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
It was so yeah, well because when I said, god,
one of you guys sign me after she goes dad,
I did? That was literally we were still living together,
you know, it was. It was twenty twenty early twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Yeah, wow, so you look good. You few on the
younger side of the men that were in the house.
What does golden mean to you? Like when you heard
like golden when your daughter signed you up for the
Golden that's how you were. You kind of like, wait,
I'm yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
I mean, you know, you know when you'll get to
this age you're like Golden. I'm like, in my head,
I'm the same age as you. Like, you know, that
doesn't change. So to think of myself as a sixty
one year old guy, you know, I don't want to.
You know, Golden is a walker and Kane or playing
shuffle board at the old people. So that's that's what
it thinks to me. But hopefully we've changed that persona
(06:33):
a little bit. We've changed that identity of what Golden
is supposed to mean. But there's still a lot of
people out there. You think, you know, I'm in my
golden years. I don't like to think of the golden years.
I just like to think it's kind of just the
next phase. Golden years is another twenty years away.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Yeah. I agree with that, and I think that's you
make a good point.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Oh, people are living longer and longer every year or two,
So it's like sixty now. I hope I don't lived
one fifty. What sixty is now though, is now what
sixty was like fifty one hundred years ago.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Not even thirty, not even twenty years ago. I don't
think it's just it's just a lot different. But there
are people who are old at sixty, and then there's
people who are you know, you know, old at forty.
It's just it's just really a mentality you have to
kind of. It's the mindset of how old do you
want to feel and how you want to live your life.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Yeah, what do you do to help yourself feeling good
and young and delaying those golden years?
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Well, I play.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
I still play a lot of sports with mostly you know,
guys half my age, whether it's pickle while or you know,
beach volleyball and the gym. I live across from the beach.
I'm with my dog every day. We take long walks,
ride my bike.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
You know.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
The Chicago lake Front is amazing, so I take full
use of that. And there's a great gym in the building,
you know, yoga, whatever it is. I just try to
stay active. I love being outside. I love being by
the water.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
That's good. What did you what did you think of
Joan when you first met her?
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Well, when I first actually met her, I was, you know,
I was in sort of a days the limo exit.
That that that nervousness of that really took my breath away.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Okay, so so let's go back to you stepping out
of the limo. How does this go down?
Speaker 5 (08:11):
So I was really nervous. My heart was racing. I
was trying to calm myself. You having your idea, you know,
you have in your head what you're going to say,
and and then in your head you think you're.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Going to come across smooth, confident, Like.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
I got out of the limo.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I thought, confident, cool, draword and I slink up there
and you know, throw my lines on her.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
But once I got out of the limo.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
You know, my heart was racing hard, and I couldn't
even remember.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
What I know.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
I think I said to her, like you took my
breath away, because I was having trouble even speaking, and
I just I could not remember even what I said
to her when I got into the lim and I
was just like, my life is over. I've just ruined
this moment that was, and no one will ever forget.
It's on TV forever in the reruns and streaming. But
(08:58):
it wasn't as bad off. I guess afterwards that it
was in my head because in my head I thought
I was done.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
It always I done.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Yeah, it feels way worse. I mean, that's what I mean.
Same thing for myself. I was like, this is going
to be horrible.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Yeah. I had a prop which I feel like helps
because you go in like with a very specific At
least I had a very specific like setup of what
I was going to do, so I could kind of
lean on that. If I had gone and just tried
to talk, I would have been like, I have nothing
to say, but yeah I was Also. I was also
(09:34):
the first one out of my limo too, and I
remember being like, this sucks. But also if I had
had to sit in the limo and watch person after
person go, I think my nerves would have just gotten
worse and worse and worse. Which number were you?
Speaker 1 (09:48):
I was last out of my limo.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Okay, so you had to sit there and listen to
everyone go. Yeah, that would make me way more nervous.
I'm like, just rip the band aid off.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
So is Joan your typical? Do you have a type
of what you usually look for in a woman.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
I don't know that I have a type specifically.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
It's more about an energy I think so Joan has
great energy, and she's obviously really beautiful, and what attracted
me to her was her you know, she's also super
family oriented, which I'm all about my family, So you know,
looks why she's great intelligence, why she's great energy.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
I thought she was, you know, she was the full
package without a doubt.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
So all the guys there, I think, kind of had
the same idea that Joan was really spectacular and that's
why we were there.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Did you think far into the future if you ended
up with Joan, what you would do live for your
living situation?
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Well, all the guys were talking about that, but I
think early on Joan let us know that she kind
of had this idea of three lives. You keep your
life in Chicago, I'll keep my life in Maryland, and
we kind of create this third life where we travel.
We in hermind, you know, intermingled the children, family vacations,
and that I don't know, it makes sense to me.
That's because no one's really getting up and leaving at
(11:02):
this point. I mean, potentially you can winter somewhere, but
you're not really leaving your family and off Chicago, and
the roots are pretty deep here.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Although I'd like to spend winters maybe somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
But would you feel comfortable. And I guess that would
still be a long a long term long distance relationship, part.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Part time long distance.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
I guess yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
I mean it would need to be. It would be
a new dynamic. You'd have to kind of work through it.
I'm sure you know Joan and Chalk are working through
it now. It's not It's not going to be the
easy situation, but I think love finds a way.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
I'm hopeful for that.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yeah. We actually we had dinner with them a few
weeks ago and they were in New York kind of
starting that process of creating. Yeah, this next step for them.
And I feel like there's pros and cons to any situation,
Like you might not get to spend as much time together,
but you also don't have to uproot yourself from where
you're living with your children, your current lives, and there
(11:58):
is like an excitement. Do you typical date in Chicago?
I'm assuming though, Yeah, for the.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Most part up dated in Chicago. The girlfriends have in Chicago.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
That might be you know, for a short period of time,
you know, somewhere of another city, but mostly it's been here.
It makes you know, it doesn't make things a lot easier,
for sure.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Didn't you date the woman that was the singer that
was on.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Went on a date with her?
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Which did she live in Chicago?
Speaker 5 (12:32):
No, she was just visiting. She was just visiting Chicago.
So that's you know, I met her. I swiped her
on an app and you don't know it's Taylor Dane.
It's just as Taylor. I'm like, okay, Taylor, I would
you would know what she looks like if you knows
you're a big fan. And we met down by the
river in a river walk. She's like, meet me for
a drink, and we met at the drink and then
she's got this big yacht that's having a party on.
(12:54):
So we went to the yachts and we're right along
the river and there's a big parties going on.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
So it's great, you know, meeting all these people. We
go out.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
If you've been in Chicago, you take the boats out
to the lake through the lock. And as we're doing that,
we go through the lock and right when we get
onto the lake, the captain comes on board and says,
with the big storm coming, we do not have time
to go back through the lock. Everyone's got to get
off the boat now. So we pulled over to the
Chicago Yacht Club and as that's happening, rain is coming,
(13:24):
the wind is blowing, and people are literally running off
this boat trying to find shelter. It just leaves Taylor
and I as the last two people, and we're just
running through the streets trying to find a viaduct to
stand there. Then she realizes she doesn't have her phone.
She left it on the boat. So it's crazy, and
it was an incredible storm. We're running through the streets.
(13:44):
I'm trying to find a cab or an uber. We
end up getting back to her hotel room and she's
got a phone number, she's got nothing, So I'm helping
her with my phone, trying to figure out her life
that she's stuck here without a phone. And it just was,
you know, obviously in a crazy situation, just at we
were on this boat, you know, you know, And so
we stayed there for a few hours, you know, and
(14:05):
say goodbye. We exchanged numbers, and then a few months
later she texted me letting me know she was coming
back to town or for another gig, and you know, kind
of that was the end of it until she showed
up on the past.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Yeah what did she What did she say? What she
saw you? Because she's obviously never going to forget that dad.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
That's something I was hopeful.
Speaker 5 (14:27):
I'm like, I have to know if she remembers me,
because it was such an crazy night. So I went
up to the producer there, you know, her producer. I said,
you know, please don't let her just leave. I need
to talk to her before she gets off the stage.
And kind of the crowd knew because I was I
was kind of telling the crowd the story lived. But
I kind of went on a crazy date with her,
and then Joan found out, you know, what was going on.
So I went up and talked to her and I said,
(14:48):
you know, I'm Jordan from Chicago. Do you remember me?
And she's like yeah, we spent five minutes together and
uh that was it. But like I said, the guys
were thinking maybe I was hitting on her. I'm like,
not hitting on her. I'm there for Joan, but just
I had no you.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Have to be like, hey, remember that time that we
got caught on your yacht in a storm and you
lost your phone like that.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Crazy circumstances were so crazy that she had to remembers.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
How long ago was that before going on the show,
Like four years okay.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Okay, so enough time that you'd be like does she
remember me? But also like how could she?
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (15:22):
I mean we hadn't talked, really, you haven't even communicated,
and she's probably been a several dates between now and then.
So I was you know, you still never know, but
it was such the circumstances were so crazy that she'd
had to remember.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
That is so funny. Wow, that's a great story. I
wasn't expecting that.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
So let's go. Let's let's jump into So you are
one of the four four guys, four guys that go
to hometowns. What was what was that experience like like
bringing home a woman that you could potentially get engaged to,
meeting your children, your your brothers. Yeah, was as bad,
(15:58):
right and ko there.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
You go exactly, okay yo.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
So it's a lot to bring you know, my family,
like you know, probably your families as well. You know,
three older brothers. We're all we do is you know,
kind of bang on each other for fun. And so
that was nerve wracking for one because my brothers, you know,
you know, we grew up fighting with each other and
in the fun way, they were stratching me all the time.
And my daughters are everything to me, so it's really
(16:23):
important for them.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
To like her.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
You know, that's a that's it's a deal breaker if
they don't like her. So there's a lot of nerves.
There's a lot of nervousness there. And I hadn't seen
my kids in you know, five weeks, and we talked
every day, multiple times a day.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
So this, you know, that separation.
Speaker 5 (16:39):
First they see me and they're crying, and I'm crying
and and bringing Joan into the situation, it can't be
easy for her because you know, she's kind of thrust
herself in this little family situation.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
She's got to fit in as well. But the day
went great.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
We h We laughed a lot, there were a few tears,
We laughed a lot. My our brothers grilled her a
little bit, and uh, I thought it was a fantastic day.
It turned out, you know, sometimes a little bit of
tough questions about relationships and where things have gone.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
But I thought it was a great day overall.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Did you think after that day, did you think you
were as far along as chalk or some of these
other the few other guys that were there.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
I would say probably not.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
I mean, some of these guys, you know, near near
the end, it's certainly Chalk and guy were really expressing,
you know, outwardly, even with you know, within the group,
expressing their open feelings for Joan. It's not typically the
way I operate one and there were some other circumstances.
It's just I'm a little more low key when it
comes to that. So they might have been more vocal
(17:42):
in their you know, real feelings sworts youwn.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
I was probably a little bit more reserved in that
for sure.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Yeah. I don't know if it's just because I feel
somewhat of a connection with you, but with like the
Chicago thing or whatever. But like when you went home,
I was just kind of like, this guy's fine.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
I mean in general, yeah, of course I'm fine. I
mean I thought, you know, she seemed to be better.
We talked about that we needed more time. I you know,
maybe we started a little slow. We just needed more time.
These guys were rushing to the finish line, and I
was more like, this is this is the Jordan pace,
this is I would need more time to get that,
to get there over the finish line.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Do you think if you had more time you could
have ended up with their Yeah, as.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
For certainly as possible.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
You know, it's really such a condensed courtship that you
got to kind of throw everything out, just this is
what I want and go right forward. Otherwise it's hard
to get to that point.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
I think.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Yeah, i'd ask you if you would be interested in
Bachelor in Paradise Golden Edition. But we've seen maybe you're
hanging out with someone.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Yeah, are you dating Leslie?
Speaker 7 (18:50):
So no, not.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Differently, we met at the tell all. Right after the
tell all, my friend had he's the president of l
A FC soccer club, and he gave me a sweet
and I offered it to any of the bachelor people
who are going to be around. We had this really
nice sweet and Leslie was there with the friends. So
a couple of bachelors came, and then Lesley came, and
then at some point, at some point we took a
(19:12):
selfie and she that kind of blew up the patch
of the world for a little bit.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
No, she's great. We talk a lot.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
I think Leslie's amazing, but I wouldn't you know, we're
mostly just good friends.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Right, not boyfriend girlfriend type.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
So then would you do something like Bachelor in Paradise?
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Yeah, I would love it. First, I love the beaches.
Speaker 5 (19:33):
I mean I always was like, that's the best you know,
venue get on the beach and you're cocktailing more you
get there's more people to obviously interact with, and we're
all we're not fighting for the same person either, six,
So I think it'd be fantastic.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Yeah, I was gonna say, as much as the filming
time is much shorter and condensed for Paradise, you get
significantly more time with the person that you're interested in,
like way more time.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:57):
I don't think people realize how little time you at,
you know, in the regular Bachelor Bachelorette season, there's just
not a lot of time to kind of break those
barriers down.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Did you enjoy going on the show like being oh yeah,
did you think you would? Though? Did you have any
hesitation service?
Speaker 6 (20:14):
You know?
Speaker 5 (20:14):
I was even up until I really signed it, like
the week before, I was like, I don't know if
I want to expose my life like this, I don't know,
you know, I thought the downside might outweigh the upside,
But no, after the fact, we uh, you know, had
this great relationship with the guys.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
It's exposure.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
You know, I'm like fifteen minute famous in Chicago, walker
on the streets, you know.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
So when you come back, well, the three of us
will be you know, fift Yeah, for sure, I know
it's forever.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
This year for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Actually we were there in March. Yeah, yeah, we were
there in March. Yeah, but that's because you guys were
there and I met you there.
Speaker 7 (20:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
I think I think I'm trying to think. Where did
we go? We didn't really go. We were just back
for Thanksgiving. We didn't really go anywhere out well, Guilt Bar, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Okay, Gilt that's a great spot.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
Pascal and I and went to uh the Vest when
a couple of weeks ago we were you know, it's
fun to be treated like a celebrity one but we're
at the peak of our you know, popularity, so.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
It was really fun.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah, we'll all go out over Christmas.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
How was hanging out with Pascal?
Speaker 5 (21:20):
He's great, he's you know, he's amazing. He's unfiltered like
he is. He knows the city well, and we have
a good time. We have We have a really good
time together.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
What before we let you go. What are your what
were your thoughts on the finale?
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Well, you know, clearly, like I thought she had a
connection with Chalk early on. You know, it was apparent
to me that they had something. We all were fighting
for that, but they seem to have something extra, and
I thought, you know, guy handled it well. I think
he probably really was in love with her. And it's
a tough situation. You go that far and you're thinking
you're the guy and kind of get the rug pulled
(21:58):
out for me to any of you.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
But Chuck and Jones seemed very happy.
Speaker 5 (22:03):
It's very well studied for each other, certainly right now,
and I think I think happiness is in the future
for them.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Good.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
That's amazing. Well, thank you so much for coming on.
I'm glad we finally got to have you as a guest.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Yeah, it was great to finally talk to you guys.
I would love to continue it.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, let's uh, let's connect next time. I'm in Chicago
and I'll call I'll call Louis and uh, hi, Michael,
welcome to Betcher Happy Hour.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
Thank you, it's great to be here.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
How's it Uh, how's it going? Where where are you located?
Speaker 2 (22:38):
I'm in I'm just outside of Charlotte, and yeah, we
had a little bit of winter last night.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
So there's woke up to snow on the ground, which
is pretty rare down here.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Snow.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
I was gonna say, yeah, how cold does it get
for the winters it gets.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
It's been in the low twenties this week. It's not
much moreer than thirty five out now.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Yeah, okay, thank you for correct Yeah. So how did
you wind up on the Golden Bets for app.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
Well, my son and my daughter in law applied.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
They were huge fans of the series, and you probably
heard this from a lot of guys, but they really
thought I'd be great on it, and they went ahead
and sent an application, and unbeknownst to me, So I'm
on vacation with my brother and some other guys and
I get this text asking if I was interested in
being on the show. And I waited for the follow
up asking me to send one hundred dollars in bitcoin
(23:30):
to this.
Speaker 6 (23:30):
Number, and but that never came. So I thought, maybe
there's something to this.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
What was your knowledge of the show before that?
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Well, I had watched The Golden Bachelor. Again, there were
huge fans and you know, they had suggested. I checked
this dot see what the women were like on the show,
and you know what the whole experience was like. And
I was really impressed by it. I really liked it
a lot and thought it was great. Then I watched
the some of the highlights of the Bachelor series, and
(24:02):
maybe I walked that back a little bit, but at
the end of the day, it was all positive.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
I thought, for the most part, Before you went on
the show, what was it like dating? What was your
dating life like? Were you on the apps? What was
the strategy?
Speaker 6 (24:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:18):
I was on the apps, and that's you know that
gets really stale. It's a you know, it's a dance
that you're doing that involves not wanting to hurt people's feelings,
trying to discern as quickly as possible whether there's any
chemistry there, and not wanting to put yourself out there
too much into a position where you need to pull
(24:41):
back and walk away.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
In other words, trust has to be there, and that's.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
A difficult thing to do with a bunch of strangers
in any environments, let alone an app.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
I feel really bad for the women.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
That's got really hard because you and you've got the
you know, the possibility of you know, physical violence or
whatever hand which guys don't have to deal with.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
So yeah, there's so many crazy horror stories about like
creepos and murderers and cannibals out there on the dating apps.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
I haven't heard anything about cannibals, really.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
I've heard a few.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Well, one of yours dated an no one directly.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Okay, this is all through the room room, al so
take it with a grain of salt. It might not
be very true. But I just heard one recently about
this girl that went on a date and anyway, it
was just no no through a frid.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
Like chicken.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Oh god, that should be the first red flag.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
We we we heard you had some health issues. Where
are you right now on your health journey and what's
going on there?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
Thank you? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
So I was diagnosed with cancer right before I received
that text.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
And.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
I wasn't sure I wanted to continue you with the
process or not, but my son and my daughter in
law kind of convinced me of it. My doctor I
talked to about it and he creen lit it, and
so I went ahead and did it.
Speaker 6 (26:10):
It was prostate cancer, So I.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Didn't bring that up on the on the mental law
because a lot of people hear that and they think, well,
that's no big deal, but it can be. It can
be aggressive. In my case, it was, and I was
already being treated for it with medicine. And I'm honest
with you. The medicine that they give you when you're
prostate cancer, and what it does is it basically puts
the cancer into stasis so it can't grow, is what
(26:37):
they call ADYT therapy. And what that does is it
removes all the testosterol from your body. So I was
the first guy in the history really go on to
show on any testosterone. I was really glad when I
heard that Joan was not going to have beds in
the fantasy story.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
It's because I was like, Oh, that's gonna be tough.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
What is that? Can you explain what what how that
feels when you when you lose all your test stosterone?
Speaker 6 (27:02):
Yeah, I mean it's tough.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
It makes me much more sympathetic for women going through
menopause because one of the side effects is you get
night sweats, and you and every half hour or so,
you know, throwing your sheets off because you're literally drenched
in sweat. Aside from that, I mean I've lost a
lot of muscle mass, and in addition to that, you
get moody and you get depressed, and you've got to
(27:28):
be really careful about putting weight on as well. It
can have really serious side effects if you're on it
for too long. I just went off at about about
three weeks ago, so I'm raring to get the testouts
from the back and get that out.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
So is that what happens? Does your testosterone come back
at once you're off.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
The medicine I'm on, It comes out, It comes back
pretty quickly, so within a few weeks it should be
at least a baseline.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Yeah, So where is your health at now? And then
moving forward, it sounds like you're progressing well if you're
coming off with the medication.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Damn, the prognosis is excellent. And again it was aggressive
but also caught early. I had to go through a
couple of surgeries and some radiation. But I think twenty
twenty five is gonna be gonna be a great year.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
That's great, right, good the hair, wow?
Speaker 1 (28:21):
But you know, I like a little little positive energy.
We started talking about cannibals. I didn't know way this
podcast is.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Gonna you know, there's a lot of there's a lot
of crazy.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
People out there, so let's let's jump a little to
the show. Your your time on the show, you know,
just like stepping out of the limo. What was going
through your head in that moment? And yeah, I didn't
(28:49):
want to.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
Be the first gut to face plan on the driveway.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
First of all, I will tell you this before I
even before we even pulled up, We're wondering what the
whold up is. We got out stretch outside of the
limo and there's a horse galloping down the street.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
And I'm like, what the hell was this?
Speaker 2 (29:06):
And we only found out later that one of the contestants, David,
had brought a horse and he had escaped. So this
happened right before limo pulled up.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
But I was afraid of face planting. I had.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Ultimately, I think I'd over rehearsed my line. I had
a little bit of a pattern I gave her that
probably sounded pretty can to her. But at least I
got through it without fainting. And then I went in
order to stiff drink.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
How did you feel about living with a bunch of
guys who probably are loaded up with testosterone?
Speaker 2 (29:37):
At that point, Yeah they are, but they're older and wiser, right,
and they didn't know that about me.
Speaker 6 (29:43):
I kind of kept that to myself.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
It was, look, these guys were great, and I think
the producers, you know, everyone says, well, these guys, this
is a natural, organic bonding experience, and it was. But
I also think the producers had the sign out in
front that said no jerk's allowed, because you know, I
couldn't snuff out one. And they seemed to like universally
a bunch of really good guys, including the ones that
(30:06):
left at first night, and I always feel bad for them.
I only did through the second ceremony myself, but the
guys who left early, I must have it must be
kind of rough to go through all the vetting in
order to have.
Speaker 6 (30:17):
That end like that. But they were always They're all
good guys. I thought. I really loved getting to know them.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
And listen a short period of time as I was there,
I formed bonds with these guys. I had dinner with
Pascal and Jordan not that long ago. I'm going to
see Jack when I go up to the Chicago to
visit my kids for Christmas, and you know, I'm hoping
that that I'm life flogging friends with something. Chocks kids,
Taylor and Tyler brought Futo for me, not that far,
(30:44):
but they live in.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
That's so your kids live in Chicago. I'm from Chicago.
Speaker 6 (30:49):
That's where I'm from.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah, Chago a lot of Chicago.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
What area are you from.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I'm from Naperville, which is a western suburb of Chicago.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I'm from my Such Park no kidding, Yeah, is living.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
He's living an Oak Park right now? Yeah, okay, stay
with yeah?
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah yeah yeah, Oak Park. Yeah right there, literally right
next door to Oak Park.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
That's crazy. Okay. So then you know, being on the
show for a short time it could be a blessing.
It also is pretty rough. I was only on I
went home night one? What was Why do you think
you went home week two?
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Yeah, I've thought about this a little bit. At the
end of the day, you know, there's either a spark
there or there's not.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
And she's got a lot of guys that she has
to plow through pretty pretty damn quickly. So you know,
if if the chemistry, if the spark wasn't there, you know,
even in the short period of time you're together. I
used to say when we when I went on these
dating apps, you can tell within five minutes if if
you're attracted or interested in somewhere, and I'm guessing that
she probably wasn't with me. The only I've looked back
(32:00):
on and maybe I regret a tiny bit, is that
I could have been more authentic. I could have been
more myself. I was probably overly concerned with presenting myself
in the best possible light instead of just being me.
So if I had to do it over again, I
do that. But maybe that buys me another week. At
the end of the day, it's not gonna move a
need on munch, I don't think, you know.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
And that's okay.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
I think it's also really hard when, like, I feel
like I'm somewhat of a reserved person, and when you
are and you go on these shows and then you
have so many big characters, it is hard sometimes to
stand out because you know, it's just there's just so
many guys and people are very aggressive, and it just
it's easy when you are a reserved person to just
(32:43):
kind of like lay back and be like, all right, well,
let the chips fall where they fall kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Yeah, I totally agree, and I hit conversation with Mark
and one other guy because I kind of so stopped
that we were the three or four introverts, and I
was wondering what it was like for them, because for me,
I felt, you know, like, yeah, like I was walking
among giants in terms of personalities because you have Gary there,
(33:10):
and you have Jack, and you know, these guys were Charles.
These guys were extremely charismatic and uh, and you know,
I like to think of my own quiet way I am,
but but not you know, I don't land that way
in a short period of time.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
You know, it's fine. I can tell you're reserved.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
I maybe those of us who are like that can
kind of see it right away.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
We get each other, even over Zoom, we get each other.
You're are you retired?
Speaker 6 (33:38):
I am a retired community bank CEO. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
I was little community banks in Illinois. You're from Illinois.
There's a million little banks. Yeah, and that's what I
did during my career.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
What are your what are your thoughts? You mentioned, uh, bitcoin?
What are your thoughts on bitcoin?
Speaker 2 (33:55):
On bitcoin? I think I think it's going to blow
past one hundred K. I think that's a given. Whether
it gets to five hundred or a million, some of
these guys are calling for I don't know. I would
definitely take some chips off the table as soon as
it gets past and call it.
Speaker 6 (34:14):
That's Mie. What do you think?
Speaker 1 (34:16):
I think. I think the cycle, which I believe we're
currently in a bull cycle. I think I could see
it going as high as two hundred by March. But
I agree, and then I think there'll be a there's
always a big, a sizeable pullback. And but yeah, I
mean I I I buy into it. I don't know
how high it will go, but everything's looking pretty promising
(34:40):
at this point, so I agree.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Yeah, yeah, totally, so I know. Sorry, No, it's okay.
Joe loves bitcoin. So what is next for you? Because
you're retired, you've come off this show. What are what
are the goals with Forward in the future?
Speaker 6 (35:01):
Are you dating Golden Basso and Paradise? Of course?
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Yeah, you would you do it.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
Absolutely that. Yeah, I want my shirt on either that.
I'd hit the gym for six months, you know, just
live there, I just move in.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
You're not the first guy to come on and say that.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Yeah, I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, I would absolutely
do it. I think it would be a Blast. I
don't think they will.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
Do it, but I'd love it if i'd be all in.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
I think they might at some point, might be. It
might be a little hard now because there's only been
one season of Golden Bachler one season a Golden BACHERTT,
But I think down the line there will be a time.
I think a lot of people want to see it,
and you know, see the contestants that everyone fell in
love with have another chance of finding love. Are there
any women that you have your eye on? There?
Speaker 1 (35:47):
You were, you were at the you were at the
mental after the rows, anything happened there?
Speaker 6 (35:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (35:53):
I mean I got to meet some of the women
of the Golden Bauschler.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
I had a Yeah, I had a really good time.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
And I've been texting a couple of them, just you know,
on a friendly basis from time to time, and uh
and and hearing back from them as well. I mean,
we've all shared something really unique, So even on that
level alone, there's some common interest there.
Speaker 6 (36:14):
So and they're great. I thought they were.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Terrific watching watching The Golden Bachelor. I don't know how
if you watch the entire season or just some of it,
were there any women that stood out? To you that
you thought maybe you would be a good match with
Besides Jones, there's.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
A couple that might be that that that, yeah, there
might be a good match for me. We'll have to see.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
I mean, I I've met I've met some terrific ladies
so far.
Speaker 6 (36:46):
I'll just yeah, I'll name some names.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
We need the names, give us, you know, And now
I'm blanking out.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
And what have you?
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Have you met? Have you met? Have you met Nancy yet?
Speaker 3 (36:59):
No?
Speaker 1 (36:59):
I have not met Nancy.
Speaker 6 (37:01):
I think all the guys would like to meet Nancy,
to be honest.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
With you, but I know we're trying to we're trying
to set up Nancy.
Speaker 6 (37:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Yeah, she's a she's a beautiful woman and she seems
really grounded. So that's intriguing.
Speaker 6 (37:14):
You know.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
What's a really nice lady who is very sweet and
I think it's kind of a bad rap. Is Kathy,
very sensitive and easy to talk to and write. And
we've been texting a little bit back and forth as well.
I sat next to Sylvia. She was very sweet as well.
I liked her and uh yes, Sandra, I enjoyed talking
(37:37):
with her. It was a party with a bunch of people,
so it's tough to decide.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
Whether or see whether there's any chemistry or not. Yeah,
so it's a little soon.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
How do you feel about dating? Would you date someone
that lived in another state?
Speaker 6 (37:54):
Sure? Yeah, I have Yeah that out. Yeah, listen, I'm
living in Charlotte. My kids are up in Chicago, so
I wouldn't be a post and groping. To be honest with.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
You, do you see yourself ever going back to Chicago?
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Yeah, I definitely do. Grandkids are coming. I you know,
that'd be a tough tough thing not to do.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
What's keeping you currently in Charlotte.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
My brother lives in Charlotte. He's the one that kind
of dragged me down here after retirement. He's like, this
is an awesome place to live. And you've lived in Chago,
the Chicago where your whole life.
Speaker 6 (38:26):
Why not check it out? If you don't like it
or you you know, you miss your kids? Move back.
So so far, so good. I like it down here
a lot.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
It's beautiful, nice. And then what does the upcoming holiday
season look like for you?
Speaker 6 (38:40):
I'm going back to Chicago.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
I'm going to hang with uh, hang with the kids,
and like I said, I'm hoping to see Jack Cascallon.
Speaker 6 (38:47):
Invited me over too. I think Jordan, I think is
out of town.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
But yeah, reconnect with those guys and uh and also
my my old friends and uh and my kids as well.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
I'll be hanging and spending time. I'm with both my sons.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Where did where did you Jordan and Pascal go to dinner?
Speaker 6 (39:08):
Uh? It was an Italian place, a little Italian tratoria.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Didn't.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
That was him and that was just him and Pascal.
Speaker 6 (39:18):
Really they want to.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
How dare they sorry? I just exposed to them right now?
Speaker 6 (39:25):
Yeah? Something so uh? No is that I can't pronounce
some yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Uh piccolo? Uh yes, yeah, it's it's on the corner
of Grand Grand In Halls that I.
Speaker 7 (39:40):
Think Pascal shows up and his DBA has asked the
Martin d B A with the top down that checks
out right, Yeah, Bobby grabs him by the chasing Michael,
you must live a more positive life.
Speaker 6 (39:55):
You have to live in the moment, my friend. This
is this is.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
The secret, this is what's gonna make your And then
I watched this dude pull out out in that car,
and I thought, you know, there's a little more to it.
I think if I was driving one of those I
might feel a little differently too.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Yeah, I think positivity is just one aspect of his happiness.
Speaker 6 (40:13):
I really dug that guy. He's a man.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Yeah, he he was. He was he was fun to watch.
He's definitely it's definitely a character. Lastly, what were your
thoughts watching the finale and seeing the way everything ended
up for Joan.
Speaker 6 (40:34):
I think that.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
I think that Chock got I think there, I think
that Chock could have gotten gotten a little. I think
it was straight a little harshly and I don't won't
say by the producers, but I would say certainly by
the audience. And you know, I spent a little bit
of time on Reddit, and man, they can be harsh
and they've been really rough on him. And I know
(40:57):
him a bit, and I know his kids, and he's
a great guy and a great dad.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
And look, he just fell in love.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
He fell hard and early, and you know, he's also
a competitive guy too.
Speaker 6 (41:11):
At the end of the day, that was the one
that stuck with me.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
I'm glad that they're together, and I really think that
it's genuine from the heart, and I wish them the best.
But that was the one takeaway that I had that.
I would have liked to have see him gone down
a little bit differently, you know. I hated to see
guy get hurt like that. Guys is terrific. But he'll
be fine. He'll be all right, I think.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
