About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. What started as a fix for our family’s bedtime routine interruption has grown into a worldwide audience with hundreds of thousands of listeners. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello friends, and welcome to bedtime Stories with mister jim O.
I was just getting ready for bed, are you as well?
Oh good, I hope you brushed your teeth and found
all of your comfy things like pillows and blankets and stuffies.

(00:27):
Oh yes, oh good. Well, as long as you have
all those things ready, then it's time for our story.
But first we must close our eyes so that we
can travel to an imaginary world. Nestled in among the

(00:58):
field wild flowers lived a little yellow flower. It loved
its home within the field and how the sun beamed
right down, warming its petals. It was nice to grow
beside the other wild flowers, but sometimes it itched for

(01:22):
something more. One day of breeze blew through the field,
making the wildflowers dance with it. The flowers held on
tight to their stems, trying their best not to lose
any of their precious petals. The wind picked up, and

(01:47):
the wildflowers in the field were now trying to not
blow away completely, but not the little yellow flower. It
thought the breeze felt nice. It didn't think it would
be so bad to be carried away with it. So
the little yellow flower lifted its petals to catch the wind,

(02:13):
take me, take me. It silently called to the wind,
fanning its petals out as far as they would go.
The breeze blew and it caught the little yellow flower,
carrying it away from the field. The flower was happy

(02:35):
with its decision. Already flying felt amazing, but the wind
did not plan to carry the flower for long. And slowly,
the little yellow flower floated down, landing in the stream.

(02:56):
The flower felt the cool water under its petal as
the lazy current carried it downstream. The stream was shallow,
and at times the flower became stuck between rocks. Pressed
up against a rock, the little yellow flower waited as

(03:17):
meadows swam below it and tickled it, and flowers jumped over.
The little yellow flower waited once again for the breeze
to blow and helped it along on its journey. The
breeze reached the flower, wiggling and spinning it until it

(03:41):
was carried back down the stream. Thank you, thought the flower. Soon,
this little flower picked up speed as the river grew wider.
It was no longer getting stuck on rocks, but riding
down them in small waterfalls. The stream had widened into

(04:07):
now a river, and the little yellow flower watched as
the trees on the river bank stretched taller toward the sky.
There were no more wildflower fields, but some flowers grew
in the patches of sunlight that shone between branches. The
little flowers petals were tickled by the faster current. It

(04:32):
marveled out how wide the river was now. After a while,
the sky became brighter as the big, tall trees were
more spread out. The forest she was traveling through had
become sandy fields, with tall, wavy grasses and special wildflowers growing.

(04:58):
A little yellow flower noticed that the water became salty.
It was no longer fresh and cool like it had
been in the small stream. The water was cold and
rushing toward the river's mouth and into the ocean. The

(05:19):
little yellow flower held on as it was spun around
the fast moving water. Finally, the rushing water gushed into
the wide open sea, sending the flower bobbing out into
the open water and slowing down until it was floating again.

(05:43):
Above the flower were seabirds. They soared by on outstretched wings,
and the yellow flower thought they looked to be doing
the same thing, only they were floating through air and
the flower floated through water. But both were equally as
calm and peaceful. The sun overhead had moved lower in

(06:09):
the sky, closer toward the water's surface. As it did
the sea below, the flower formed waves that splashed into
one another. Once in a while, the flower was caught
under the water, taking a dive down toward the fish

(06:30):
until the waves pulled it back up again. It caught
a ride on a wave that raced toward the sandy
beach and decided to hop off. It was happy with
the water adventure, but was ready for something else. A
girl walked along the beach, letting the water splash her feet.

(06:54):
She saw something yellow up ahead and wondered what it
could be. The little yellow flower stretched its petals as
the girl approached, hoping to be seen. It was filled
with joy when the girl scooped it up gently. Wow,

(07:16):
what a beautiful flower, she said. The girl placed the
flower in her hair, and the little yellow flower nestled in,
taking in the new sights and smells from up there.
They walked for a while longer, until the sun disappeared

(07:36):
and the little girl headed home. In her room, she
placed the flower in a cup on her windowsill. Good Night,
little yellow flower, the girl sighed, as she fell asleep.
Good Night, little girl, the flower thought, as it turned

(07:58):
its petals toward the moon and wrested from its long adventure.
The end, Well, my friends, as we close our eyes
and cozy up, may you have very sweet dreams tonight.

(08:20):
Good night, my friends,
