Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi, and welcome to behind the mic the iHeart Interant life,
where you'll get the inside look at the unique, collaborative
and fulfilling experience of being part of the team at iHeart.
I'm Renee and I've had the pleasure of leading the
summer internship program. This season, we're revealing our twenty twenty
four intern class of a whole professional world. Next up
is Amanda, our marketing intern. I'll at Amanda take it away.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
My name is Amanda. I go to Boston College. I'm
going to be a rising senior. I'm a psych major
and a marketing minor, and I'm from connecticutte So I've
always been interested in marketing. After I took some finance
courses at school, I had some great professors marketing professors,
and they really put me on that track. So I've
always been into media planning, media industry, but I've never
(00:53):
really had a specific company in mind. But being integrated
into the media industry has certainly been very eye opening.
I had just grown up with iHeart for my entire life.
I would say I've definitely watched the company just adapt
over time.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
It's has been really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I've gone to the jingle ball back in the day
twenty fourteen, fifteen sixteen. Always enjoyed going with my friends
and family. Always listened to Z one hundred growing up.
Now that I'm here, I would definitely say my expectations
have been met. Some surprises have definitely come in. Just
the whole work environment has been really cool to be
(01:29):
a part of. It's been interesting how collaborative all the
teams have been, and being able to meet different people
across the board on different teams has been very eye opening,
I would say. And I've definitely been able to see
the company from more of a bird's eye view, so
that's been cool to be integrated that way and just
get to know the industry as a whole.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
And how everything works with one another.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
So we first came in, we went to the boardroom immediately,
so that was definitely really cool to see, like a
traditional work boardroom. I've never been in that environment before,
so that was really exciting. We were able to see
the radio stations, which seeing that in person was kind
of when it hit me like wow, like you're interning
here for the next eight weeks, Like it's going to
(02:12):
be great. So many cool things. My floor has been great.
Everyone is in a very collaborative environment. There's always so
much camaraderie. I would say on my floor, you just
hear people shouting questions across the room and people just
yelling back. So it's been funny to see. But it's
also just been great to see how much everyone cares
for one another. Something I've noticed about my team is
(02:34):
that everyone jokes around and has that environment, but when
it comes down to it, definitely everyone cares about everyone's
like well being. I would say the summer Tuesdays have been.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Really fun to be a part of. It's been great
really seeing like an iHeart performance go on in the office.
My favorite Summer Tuesday was Malcolm Flagwell. He was great
to listen to.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
My team has definitely done a great job integrating the
interns into that atmosphere. It's been great to be able
to collaborate and meet other interns as the eight weeks
have gone by, just because we're all working in our
own individual areas, so us all coming together.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
And just being able to spend some quality time has
been truly great. This summer.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
I've been living here about twenty minute walk away, and
that just made everything a lot more surreal for me.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I would say it's truly the iHeart.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Experience and the New York experience coming together has just
given me a bigger picture of what life could look
like postgrad. So being in this environment, it's just very busy,
go go go, but you love the hustle and the grinds.
But you also get to see, like the play, all
the camaraderie that's always going on. The city never sleeps,
so that's something I've definitely noticed. I am definitely feeling
(03:50):
very rewarding after this experience. It's sad to go, but
it's also been an eye opening experience, and it has
made me more excited for going into my senior year and.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Also life postgrad.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I would definitely say before these eight weeks, on my
last day, I would be so nervous and so scared
to begin my senior year and truly start finding my
own career path. But I would say working here the
past eight weeks has just made me more excited to
do so, so that's been great.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Another thing that I loved was seeing the interns enjoy
office culture and markets all around the country. I felt
confident that every intern came away with the experience of
what it feels like just show up and be a
part of the iHeart team.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Do you too want to love what you do?
