Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi, and welcome to behind the mic the iHeart internt life,
where you'll get the inside look at the unique, collaborative
and fulfilling experience of being part of the team at iHeart.
I'm Renee and I've had the pleasure of leading the
summer internship program.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
This season.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
We're reviewing our twenty twenty four intern class to the
whole professional world. Next up is Erica, our podcast pre
sales intern. I'll let Erica take it away.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
My name is Erica.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I am going to be a rising junior at NYU,
which is kind of crazy, and I'm majoring in econ
and my role at iHeart is the podcast pre sales intern.
Now I'm kind of leaning into like finance, kind of
that type of in the media entertainment, which.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Is what iHeart has kind of exposed me to.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
iHeart is an amazing media platform and it just really
diversifies all of like so many different people's voices, and
I think that's like something that I really value, the
diverse network as well as the working to get their
collaboration aspect. So I Heart really was just the interview
itself too, really made me feel like I was already
a part of the team, and my manager was super
(01:08):
sweet too, so I think that's what really drew me
to iHeart the people and like the culture that I
heart represents. Something I learned during my internship was the
importance of advertisers, because that's kind of the team I'm on,
kind of working between advertisers and producers and trying to
see a balance for whether or not they'd be able
to advertise on a podcast. So I didn't really understand
(01:31):
the importance of like advertising in a podcast specifically and
how many operations that it goes through. I think that's
really what my internship has taught me, and I think
that's really cool something that's not always highlighted when you're
just listening to a podcast, people are also listening.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
To the ads that are curated just for that podcast.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Some of the memories that really stook out to me
as an intern was the first day coming in like
with fresh eyes, not knowing anyone, and just walking in
seeing all the other interns who are like diferent ages,
different colleges. I think that was like a little bit
nerve racking at first, and over time, being at iHeart,
I was able to create and foster really important, valuable
(02:10):
relationships with these other interns, which is something that is
a bit hard because everyone's on a different team. And
I think that's really what stands out with iHeart the
people that they choose to work here. Everyone's so welcoming
and I really love that aspect of being able to
meet anyone you would like to if you're interested about something.
The first time I walked into the office, I was
like in shock kind of it's so creative, Like the
(02:33):
red theme is like beautiful really stands out to Iheart's logo,
and I think that's something different from most of the
corporate offices that you see here. It's not really as
creative and decorative in that sense, and that really like
creates an environment.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
That I was like people to collaborate with each other.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
One of the meaningful interactions that I had over my
time at My Heart was kind of going to the
coffee chats, which were just with interns. Like that first week,
I had a meeting with one of the interns on
the I guess kind of data analytics team, that sort
of thing, and everyone was so open to meeting each
other and both of us were really excited to learn
about what each other We're doing. Where do we go
(03:13):
to college? That sort of thing, And honestly, like I'm
really close with like the interns.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Now, we all hang out.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
We all text, we all share like what we're working on,
what we're excited for the week. I know it's a
bit cliche, but the advice that I would give is
to be yourself. The recruiting team is really amazing. I
think you connect on a deeper level as opposed to
just the fluff questions that you typically.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Get asked at interviews.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
I think that really like helped me kind of just
talk about why I'm interested in iHeart and really helped
me open up as a whole. So just being yourself,
explaining why you're interested in this position, who you're excited
to meet maybe, or what you're excited to see here,
and being excited. I feel like that's just like the
energy that you want in the environment you're working with,
and if you're really interested in this opportunity like your past,
(04:00):
and we'll just show I'm kind.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Of excited for what's to come.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
But I'm a little sad because by time it felt
so short.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Summer goes by so fast.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
But I really loved it here and I loved my team,
and I loved the interns I worked.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
With, so all happy thoughts, but a little bit sad.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
I think what was really special about this class was
just witnessing the bonds that they all formed with each
other over the course of their eight weeks.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
It was so sweet.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
To witness, and it's a great example of how people
grow close just by working here at iHeart.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Do you too want to love what you do?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
