Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi, and welcome to behind the mic the iHeart internt life,
where you'll get the inside look at the unique, collaborative
and fulfilling experience of being part of the team at iHeart.
I'm Renee, and I've had the pleasure of leading the
summer internship program. This season, we're de dealing our twenty
twenty four intern class to a whole professional world. Next
up is Riley, our analytics intern. I'll let Riley take

(00:24):
it away.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
So my name is Riley. I'm a rising senior at
the University of Michigan basically studying analytics. That's probably like
the cloquial term for it. And I'm really excited because
at iHeart, I've been part of the analytics team in college.
I just always was drawn to like media and also
like the backgrounds of it, like whether that's like the
business side or analytics. So I wanted to find something

(00:49):
that I could kind of combine those two interests. I
applied to iHeart because I love iHeart like it was.
When I saw it, I was like, oh my God,
of course I applied to iHeart Like. My favorite podcast
is like pus Culturalist does. I've listened to the radio
all my life. I thought I'd be like the best
opportunity to work for a company I was actually a
fan of, which has been really fun this summer. I

(01:11):
was really surprised in the interview process how everyone was
so nice. That was the thing, is that in all
of my other interviews at different places, you know, there's
like a serious tone. You're like, not they're not trying
to like scare you, but like there's an intimidation factor.
Every single person I talked at iHeart was like so nice.
It was Honestly I thought I wasn't gonna get the
job because I thought they were like, ah, like this girl,

(01:32):
like we'll ask you a couple questions. But like I
was like, oh, they're are They're not taking me seriously.
But it's just because everyone's really really friendly. And so
that was like the most surprising thing about the interview process.
What's really really fun about this internship, and like probably
the thing I'm going to take away from it is
that we've been able to speak to a bunch of
like vps throughout the entire summer, and they'll talk to

(01:54):
us about like how they kind of got their jobs
and like what they do. And I kind of thought
when it came to like successful people they were, they
had their plans all of their life. They were so
serious and all of them there's a lot of fluidity
in their career and it took of like a lot
of different turns, And so I think the biggest thing
I learned at iHeart is that, honestly, like your life

(02:16):
is just starting, you can really take it in any
direction you want to go. The best advice I could
give to someone trying to apply to iHeart is honestly,
reach out to anyone. Reach out to anyone to like
hear about their thoughts and like what they do. Because
the one thing about iHeart is that everyone is friendly

(02:36):
and also has been like overwhelmingly open to like answering
any question you have, no matter what department they're like
the door is always open, which has been like the
coolest part of the entire internships. I've also heard from
like so many different teams, So if you're gonna apply,
might as well just like reach out and hear about
iHeart before you do it. This is my last day

(03:00):
as an iHeart intern and I'm really bittersweet, Like it
was such a fun summer and I got to meet
so many cool people, especially the other interns, Like all
of them have been so fun and friendly. I'm really
excited about the future, but there's like a little tinge
of sadness, kind of like doing you know, like, oh
my god, this is my last coffee I'm gonna have here,
my last little coffee chat. But overall just like a
lot of pride as well.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
What I really loved about Riley's experience was realizing how
much she really leaned into everything that I Hurt had
to offer. There's really nothing more than you can ask
for and hope for. At the end of this entire program,
do you too want to love what you do? Don't
forget to follow iHeartMedia and iHeart Radio on LinkedIn and
