Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi, and welcome to behind the mic the iHeart INTERNT life,
where you'll get the inside look at the unique, collaborative
and fulfilling experience of being part of the team at iHeart.
I'm Renee and I've had the pleasure of leading the
summer internship program. This season, we're devealing our twenty twenty
four intern class to a whole professional world. Next up
is Tests, our multi market sales intern. I'll let's Test
take it away.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
My name is Test. I'm a rising senior at Cornell
University studying Communication. I am born and raised New Yorker
and at iHeart I'm working on the MMS team with
multi market sales team and having a wonderful time. So
I have always wanted to intern at iHeart, and specifically,
(00:50):
I think of the moment when you're at a concert,
the sky goes dark and everybody takes out their phone
and has their flashlight on. It doesn't matter necessarily about
the specific artist, audience, or anything else, but rather it's
about that sense of community that that fosters and the
fact that iHeart is able to put on these shows
(01:13):
not just in one city, but dozens across the US,
whether it's jingle Ball the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Vegas.
No matter what it is, iHeart is able to offer
and rather foster a community that otherwise may not be
as special if it wasn't for iHeart. One of the
most unexpected things for me during my time here was
(01:36):
despite being on the sales team, I was able to
learn so much about podcasts and I accordingly fell in
love with it. And I'm not just saying that because
I'm on one. I think that learning from the creative
idea generation start to development, to then execution of the content.
(01:58):
Seeing and learning about like selecting pitches. The idea that
someone like me, an intern is able to learn so
deeply with people that really care here was like an
unparalleled experience. I thought that coming into this internship I
would originally be doing what I think of what interns
(02:20):
do overall, they do busy work, right. No, I was wrong. Instead,
I was able to get such a wonderful overview of
what iHeart does and it's no shocker that it's the
number one audio company. Despite being on the sales team,
I learned about smart Audio, Premiere, the research team, podcast
(02:42):
and everything else. And just the fact that I wasn't
sitting at a desk, but rather was asked for my
feedback was something that I can't even put into words
of how grateful I am for it. One of the
things that I'm most proud of is I got to
work on an artificial intelligence project for my group and
(03:08):
I learned how to format it in the way that
iHeart does on power pointing. And I was not a
master of PowerPoint before, but I also got the chance
to learn so much about it here. I was able
to as someone that's also passionate about technology, I was
able to formulate how AI can better the client experience,
(03:29):
can help us tailor specific details of a campaign, let's say,
to who we were talking to, adding a personalized level
based on data we were able to look at the
coolest part about this story, I think is I actually
was so proud of it that I sent it to
the CEO, Bob Pittman, and within only a couple hours,
(03:52):
he responded to an intern saying great job on the presentation,
and then connected me with someone else and that ended
up formulating another meeting and connection and hearing him say
that to someone who originally thought they would just be
doing busy work was like, that's not normal, and so
that was amazing for me. On my very last day
(04:16):
of this internship, I feel empowered, motivated, accomplished, and just
so grateful to have gained such a broader understanding of iHeart.
I also feel extremely driven to share with the rest
of the world the incredible power of broadcast radio as
a gen Zer. I previously had fallen into the trap
(04:39):
of thinking that gen z was mostly reached with Spotify,
with Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and sure those platforms do reach
gen Z, but the scale at which iHeart is able
to reach this demographic that I'm a part of is
something that I'm so excited took him in the rest
(05:00):
of the world on because it's true. And I also
dream of also being on the iHeart podcast team, and
so this experience, I can't wait to share it with
the rest of the world and how much I've learned
because of it.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
