BION News this hour. I'm Terry McReady coming up. Additional
National Guard troops sent to Los Angeles. Over eighty people
arrested in ice raids in Louisiana. A New York mayoral
candidate and Queen's assemblyman is responding to accusations that he's
anti Semitic. But first, here's BION News Now.

The Trump administration is sending another two thousand National Guard
troops to control anti ice protests in Los Angeles. Los
Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who is black, questioned the need
for the troops.

Why do you have these young people here who have
to miss work, miss school, leave their families, and they're
here for no reason in some instances, and I'm sure
you've seen the pictures in some instances sleeping on the
floor of the federal building. Why are we doing this
to them?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
President Trump met with his national security team to discuss
possible next moves in the Iran Israel conflict. Trump awighed
possible US offensive strikes against Iran. Today is juneteenth. The
observance marks the fourth time millions of Americans are getting
a paid day off as a nation commemorates the end
of slavery in the US. I'm Alexandria Ikaimoni with Bin News.

The Trump administration is sending another two thousand National Guard
troops to control protesters in Los Angeles. The city's black mayor,
Karen Bass on the impact recent ice raids are having
on her city.

Given that we are a city of immigrants and immigrants
from all countries, anybody is subject to being detained, and
that's why it's created a pall over the city of fear.

The US Northern Command said this week that Defense Secretary
Pete Hegseth activated the troops under an Army code which
allows the president to call the National Guard into federal
service when the US is under invasion. California Governor Gavin
Newsom was critical of the deployment and set the soldiers
were diverted from critical wildfire work and are now twiddling

their thumbs for Donald Trump's political theater. Ice is arresting
over eighty individuals following a raid in Louisiana. An operation
at the Delta Downs racetrack invent in this week resulted
in eighty four total arrests. Authorities focusing on workers employed
in the racetrack stables and those responsible for horse care.

The operation, carried out with local and state law enforcement,
included the arrest of thirty six year old and Drique
Gonzales Moreno, who has prior charges for duy, drug possession
and illegal re entry. Officials say the goal was to
disrupt illegal employment networks. Queen's assemblymen Zoron Mamdani, who's polling

a close second behind former Governor Andrew Cuomo in New
York City's democratic mayoral race, is responding to criticism that
he's anti Semitic.

I've said at every opportunity that there's no room for
anti Semitism in the city, in this country.

While campaigning on Wednesday ahead of next Tuesday's primary, mom
Donnie was asked about his apparent defense of the term
globalize the Intifada, which many Jews interpreted as a call
to violence. Mamdani, whose Muslim and was born in Uganda,
appeared shaken when recounting some of the messages he's received,
including the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim. Although
