black mayor of Washington, d C. Reacting to President Trump's
crime actions in the nation's capital. Ljudge is considering evidence
to just cite if the National Guard in LA is unlawful.
The NAACP is holding a series of town halls this
week in an effort to mobilize black voters around the nation.
But first, here's BIA News Now.

With school starting Thursday, the LA Unified School District is
creating safe zones to shield students from immigration rates. Superintendent
Alberto Carvallo spoke at a news conference on Monday.

with attorney cl Jordan tried to walk it off before

And the President says cities like Chicago, New York, and
Baltimore could all be next in his plan to federalize

Bowser said democracy in Washington, DC is tenuous and calls
the president's actions unsettling and unprecedented. Meanwhile, a federal judge
in San Francisco is considering evidence to decide whether the
Trump administration unlawfully deployed National Guard troops and US marines
to Los Angeles during immigration protests. Governor Gavin Newsom and

the city's black mayor, Karen Bass say it's illegal.

Problems in about two square miles. It lasted for a
couple of days. I initiated a curfew. We have had
no problems or for weeks, so why were they here.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
The Defense Department deployed around four thousand California National Guard
troops and seven hundred marines in Los Angeles. About two
hundred and fifty troops remain on duty. The NAACP is
holding a series of town halls this week in an
effort to mobilize black voters around the country, more than
a year ahead of the twenty twenty six midterms. President
Derek Johnson told CBS News that it may still seem

far away, but midterm elections will determine whether our democracy
still holds or whether the people surrender their power to
a king. Johnson is characterizing the Trump administration's immigration raids,
slashing of medicaid and food assistance programs, and clawing back
of diverse city equity and inclusion policies as an urgent moment.
The town halls will highlight the administration's policies and impact

on the African American community, the Democratic nominee for mayor
of New York Cities, and while mom Donnie is rotcheting
up his attacks against President Trump, Mamdannie is in the
midst of what he calls five Boroughs Against Trump tour
this week, where he plans to visit the city's boroughs
to reject Trump's agenda.

But there is no borough that will be free from
Trump's cruelty. We will feel the pain of this legislation,
whether we are in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx Queens, or
Staten Island.

At the start of his tour in Manhattan yesterday, Mom
Donnie blasted Trump for cuts to Medicaid, food stamps, and
housing programs. The Ugandan born Mamdanni is trying to convey
the message that he's better stuited to take on the
Trump machine than the other mayoral candidates, including the city's
black mayor, Eric Adams. The National Drive Sober or Get
Pulled Over Enforcement campaign begins tomorrow, the National Highway Traffic

Safety Administered Ration's annual effort, kicking off ahead of Labour
Day weekend, one of the deadliest holidays for crashes involving
alcohol and parent driving. The NHTSA says five hundred eleven
people died in twenty twenty three as a result of
