more time on campus than a HHS secretary RFK Junior
did and they're still waiting for leadership to show up.

we'll talk about it first. Here's a Bin News Now.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Black Washington, DC Mayor Muria Bowser says she's working with
President Trump as National Guard troops deployed to the city
for his crime crackdown.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
The executive order is pretty clear, and.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
So is the law.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Bowser, who earlier called Trump's actions unsettling, now says she
wants to guard well used to help drive down crime.

Burgess from fifty million dollars to one hundred million dollars,
accusing him of lying about alleged sexual assault videos. During
a twenty twenty three News Nation interview, Combs says the
claims were false and damaging, and he's also suing News
(00:57):
Nation for airing the interview. And Washington, DC's historic Metropolitan
Ambing Church is suing the Hudson Valley Proud Boys to
stop them from using the group's name, logo and colors.
The church gained control of the Proud Boys trademark after
the group failed to pay nearly three million dollars in damages,
and now uses the yellow and black scheme for its
own merchandise, with slogans like stay Proud, Stay Black. I'm
(01:19):
Amber Payton with bi in News. Now back to you.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Doug, all right, thank you. President Trump declared Liberation Day
in DC from the White House yesterday while announcing a
federal takeover of the city's police department, and as a
nation watches. Police Chief Pamela Smith, alongside Mayor Muriel Bowser,
both Black, addressed reporters earlier today, saying that they will
follow the law.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
I think this is going to be a good effort.
It's going to be an effort that's supported by both teams,
the Metropolitan Police Department as well as our federal partners.
I think it's something that is doable. We know that
we have to get illegal guns off of our street,
and if we have this influx or enhance a presence
it's going to make our city even better.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Mayor Bowser said, now she's focused on the surge of
federal support and during her city, we have the best in.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
The business and MPD and cheap Pamela Smith to lead
that effort and to make sure that the men and
women who are coming from federal law enforcement are being
well used, and that if there's National Guard here, that
they're being well used and all in an effort to
drive down crimes.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Juvenile arrest in DC has dropped nearly twenty percent from
last year around this time, and DC Metro have implemented
a summer curfew for teens in an effort to quell
future crime, which is apparently working. Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Georgia,
it's been days since a gunman shot nearly two hundred
bullets across the CDC campus, killing a police officer and
breaking over one hundred and fifty windows, But for many
(02:42):
of the workers that traumas still fresh in their mind,
hardened spirit. African American DeLanda Jacobs, president of AFGE Local
twenty eight eighty two, let a news conference saying that
the staff is ridiculously traumatized.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
It was reported that it was explicitly due to vaccine
disinformation spread by the same individuals who have now been
placed in HHS leadership positions public health in a way
that threatens the lives of the public and now the
lives of public health workers like us.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
That is what has happened. You know, we don't feel safe.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
And having conversations around vaccine safety is important, but they
have to be rooted in facts.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
They can't be fabricated claims. And when leadership, when your own.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
Leadership pedals falsehoods, it doesn't just erode the public trust,
it creates the conditions for the kind of violence that
we saw on Friday.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior visited at the campus
for a brief moment, but didn't meet with any of
the workers. One staffer said the shooter spent more time
here than the secretary did. And finally, when Serena Williams
posted a few selfies last week to Instagram, she probably
had no idea that a cultural firestorm with brew from it,
and that's what happened. Serena's blonde hair, slimmed down figure,
(03:49):
and glowing skin drew praise and criticism. Some fans accuse
her of conforming to European beauty standards. Others say she
may have had her skin bleachs, but let's keep it
one hundred. Black women have always been versa with their hair, body,
and skin. Beyonce, who rocks long hair and has a
slimmer figure, has survived similar accusations, and she's still and
always will be the Queen Bee. Stay informed, stay connected,
