after Texas Republicans approved the new map adding five GOP seats,
calling it quote a last gasp of a desperate party quote.
Hochel said she'll confront Trump's push head on, though mid
decade reditioning isn't allowed in New York. Democrats in California
are also wearing similar moves back by former President Obama.
(01:22):
I'm Amber Payton with Bi in News. Now back to you, Doug, all.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Right, thank you. Tomorrow, the Justice Department begins handing over
the Epstein files to the House Oversight Committee following a
subpoena demanding access. The documents could uncover who enabled, ignored,
or participated in Epstein's sex crimes. Republican representative Pete Session
spoke to CNN ahead of the handoff.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
We need to know if there's someone in power. I
think that the American public, and I will tell you
one is my wife and women that work for me
have vigorously said to me, you need to make sure
we get to the bottom. Of this and so adacting
it would not be in the best interest of Jim Comber.
(02:04):
And James Comber is really doing a great job, and
so I think he's spoke in the way that I
would have in that is we're going to release the
data and the information.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Well, a judge blocked the DOJ's attempt to unseal grand
jury transcripts from Epstein's sex trafficking case. The committee says
it will share with the American public what it can,
promising transparency as the public is still waiting for answers.
I Meanwhile, New York Age African American Letitia James, the
state's first black woman to serve in the role, built
a fraud case that shook Donald Trump's world. She proved
(02:36):
Trump inflated its wealth, and the court agreed, slapping him
with a five hundred million dollars fine. But now a
five judge appeals panel tossed it, saying that the fine
was too excessive. Legal scholar Jonathan Turley told Fox News
earlier today, the ruling sends a message to the business.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
World they are not going to allow raw lawfare, because
this was really the greatest example of that. Attorney General
James ran on the pledge to bag Donald Trump. She
didn't even say what for. She just said I'm going
to get him, and the New York voters elected her,
and this is what she came up with. It should
(03:13):
never have gotten to this point. I mean, I think
that in the years to come, people in New York
and outside New York need to look at the case
and try to figure out how this was allowed to
get this far.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Trump denies wrong doing and calls the case political, but
the civil judgments are stacked up. This case is far
from over. And finally, the California State Assembly has approved
a ballot measure that could redraw the state's congressional map.
It's in response to Texas Republicans who passed new district
line to secure five more Goop seats. California Assembly remember
Isaac Bryant, who was black TLCNN.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Today, we sent a constitutional amendment to the voters of
California so that on November fourth, they can decide whether
we stand up to the power graph that's happening out
of DC through Texas. It's not California Democrats drawing new maps.
It's us empowering the voters of California to make that decision,
and I believe strongly they will stand with us in
this moment.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
If California Democrats succeed, the proposed map could give Democrats
five more seats in Congress. Stay in form, stay connected,
