Speaker 1 (00:02):
Bia News this hour, Doug Davis coming.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Up, this is why Republicans are trying to rig the
midterm elections.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
Team Trump is in trouble with women voters, as new
poll show sharp declines. We hear from a former black
GOP comms director who spells it all out. Plus Trump
says if the government shuts down, blame Democrats. At Montell
Jordan is back of the news, raising awareness about a
deadly disease that disproportionately kills black men. But first, here's
bin news.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Now.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Black New York City mayor Eric Adams is denying claims
he was bribed to quit the mayoral race after Curtis
Sliwa alleged Andrew Cuomo offered him money to drop out.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
No one has not offered money to leave the race,
and we would not accept it if it was offered.
That's not how you run politics in the city.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Pulls show Adams trailing badly with Democrats randmm Donnie leading,
Cuomo second and Sliwa third. The Trump administration is pulling
sixty five million dollars in grants from Magnet schools in
New York's City, Chicago, and Fairfax, Virginia, saying they violated
civil rights laws. Officials ordered changes to transgender DEI and
Black Student Success programs, but when districts refuse, the funding
(01:11):
was cut and the sixty fifth annual Skyview Open wrapped
up this week in Ashville, North Carolina. The tournament, known
as the longest running black owned golf event, highlights black golfers.
I'm Amber Payton with Bi in News. Now back to you, Doug,
all right.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
President Trump's approval rating remains low, especially with women. A
new poll shows a widening gender gap, with women voters
increasingly turning away from the administration's messaging. The drop comes
as HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior's pushing claims that
tilan hall used during pregnancy may be linked to autism.
Former GOP strategists African American Terra sit Meyer tells MSNBC
(01:47):
Republicans are scrambling.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
I mean, this is.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Why Republicans are trying to rig the midterm elections. They
know that they are in trouble for women in this country.
The effects of the Betrayal Bill that got passed, on
our healthcare, on our access to healthcare, rural health care,
all of these things are being impacted by Donald Trump
in ways that really are difficult for the American people,
(02:10):
particularly women who are often the heads of household, and
women should and are as you see in these polls,
in this polling coming out and speaking up and saying,
wait a minute, this is not what we voted for.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
The FDA is now reviewing warning labels, even though most
medical experts say there's no risk that's proven. Meanwhile, President
Trump says Americans should blame Democrats if the government shuts down,
as both parties struggle through agreeing on a spending plan
that puts millions of Americans healthcare on the line. Wednesday,
the White House Office of Management and Budget told federal
(02:41):
agencies to prepare for possible layoffs if Congress doesn't reach
a funding deal by September thirtieth. California Representative Eric Swalwell
waged in earlier today on CNN and blamed Trump for
jeopardizing the health and wallets of citizens, particularly black Americans.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Because of the Big Brutal Bill and the threat of
these going away and Medicare funding being cut and rural
hospitals being cut. Insurance is expected to go up for
most families. So we have an opportunity here to cancel
the cuts, to lower the cost, to save our healthcare,
and that's what Democrats are asking. We're also asking to
just sit down and negotiate with the President because they
(03:18):
can't fund their government without negotiating with Democrats. And when
that was scheduled, Donald Trump immediately walked away.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Democrats are calling for Trump to return back to the
negotiating table and finally, Montell. Jordan, the force in voice
behind the iconic hit This is How We Do It,
is using his platform to raise awareness about prostate cancer.
He recently revealed his personal battle with the disease and
ex urging early detection, especially among black men who face
higher risks. Jordan's journey will be featured in an upcoming
(03:49):
documentary titles Sustain, aimed at breaking stigma and encouraging open,
honest conversations about screening and survival. Despite his health challenges,
Jordan says he's staying focused, spreading the word, and even
hope for one day to collaborate with his music hero
Stevie Wonder in the near future. Stay informed, stay connected,
