Speaker 1 (00:02):
Bin News this hour, Doug Davis coming up. Diddy was
back in court today as his lawyers called for charges
to be dropped or a new trial. Plus the family
of a pregnant Black Ohio woman shop by a police
or taking their case to court and a judge. As
Amazon trick customers into joining Prime, now they must pay
the piper. But first, here's bi news Now.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Black New York City Mayor Eric Adams is announcing two
new housing projects, converting Wilmsburg industrial buildings into nine hundred
homes and an East Harlem parking lot into eight hundred units.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
So instead of parking cars, we're going to park families
so they.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Can enjoy a home where they can call their own.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
At least a quarter will be affordable. Since adams executive
order last year, eleven projects have been launched to create
nearly ten thousand homes. A second former city hall staffer
assuing black New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's administration, Tricia Diamond,
claimed she was fired for exposing misuse of at least
fifteen million dollars in pandemic relief funds, including money sent
to a nonprofit and a ninth Ward stadium project, Another

(01:03):
similar lawsuit was filed earlier this month, and Shawn ditty
Comb's lawyers are arguing commercial voyeurism is not prostitution as
they push to overturn his conviction. The fifty five year
old faces up to twenty years in prison, with sentencing
set for October third, if the verdict stands. I'm Amber
Payton with Bi in News. Now back to you, Doug,
all right.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Thank you. As the nation awaits the sentencing of bad
Boy music mogal Sean Ditty Combs and his highly explosive
sex crimes trial, his legal team as the federal judge
to toss the two convictions tied to prostitution or for
him to receive a new trial. His lawyers say the
sexual encounters were all consensual and that Ditty's escorts were
not trafficked. Former prosecutor Dave Ehrenbergh gave his opinion on

(01:42):
the request today on CNN.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Well, the prosecution seems to want about four or more
years to a maximum of seven years and three months.
That's the federal guidelines from the Probation Office. So I
think that the judge will probably give him a little
more time than the defense wants, but less time than
the prosecution. He may just split the two here.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Ehrenberg adds that the judge is likely winging and on
public pressure, and if indeed his acts were criminal, I think.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
The judge wants to give him more than just the
minimum because the judge, it's like everyone else. He was
probably appalled at what he saw the violence against Cassie,
the level de pravity that was going on there. So
I think that did he is not out of the
woods yet. Even though he was acquitted of all the
major crimes.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
The judge did not make a rule in today, as
the hearing has adjourned, did he. Sentencing date is scheduled
for October third. Meanwhile, the family of Taquia Young, the
twenty one year old pregnant black woman killed by police
in the town outside of the Columbus, Ohio, has filed
a federal civil rights lawsuit against Lyndon Township and its
police chief.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
She's the victim here and we demand accountability for the
loss of two precious lives, Takaya and her unborn daughter,
and the officer in this department must be held accountable
before his actions that escalated this encounter and led to
the loss of two precious lives.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
That's the lawyer for the family, Shawn Walton, who was
Flax speaking years ago. The shooting occurred in August twenty
twenty three outside a Coger grocery store. An officer responding
to a shoplifting called approach Young and when she attempted
to drive off, that's when the officer shot through the
car window, hitting her in the chest. The officer has
pled not guilty to murder and reckless homicide and is

(03:20):
expected to face trial in the coming months. The lawsuit
claims that apartment failed to properly train and supervise its officers,
and that Young in her daughter's death was a direct
result of negligence an excessive force. And finally, Amazon has
agreed to a historic two point five billion dollar settlement
with the Federal Trade Commission overclaims it misled customers into

(03:40):
signing up for Prime memberships and made it hard to cancel.
The case file two years ago accuse Amazon of violating
the Restore Online Shoppers Confidence Act. One point three billion
dollars will be paid directly back to affected customers, and
there's a one billion dollar civil penalty attached. Amazon denies
they did anything wrong. But says it will pay to
avoid a long trial and appeals process. The company is

(04:04):
scheduled to set up claims for more than thirty million
customers who could be eligible for refunds. Stay informed, stay connected,
