(01:20):
Now back to you, Doug, All right.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Thank you, Happy Friday.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
The CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates is captivating audiences
from all backgrounds of life. It's set in Negator community
outside of DC. The show center's black excellence, legacy and power,
something daytime television hasn't seen in decades. As a show
is making history as the first black soap opera on
a major TV network in over thirty years. One of
the stars of the show, who plays doctor Ted Robinson,

(01:45):
the smooth, sharp, plastic surgeon, is with us this TGI Friday,
and he just dropped his new single for Every Bay,
Keith D.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Robinson. Welcome to the bi N Brother.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Why is this show so important right now for Black America?

Speaker 4 (01:57):
It means a lot, because I mean these types of
images kind of really affected me growing up seeing blacks
that were doctors and lawyers and had it wasn't always
good time shout out the good times. But I think
for kids that look like me, that are younger than me,
it feels good to be a part of the movement
and part of the inspiration, part of the good things,
the good imagery of African American culture that we don't

(02:17):
always see, especially in daytime. I think it's a it's
groundbreaking in that sense.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Why do you think it's taken so long, you know,
for daytime TV to reflect on the affluence of Black America.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
I mean, you know, that speaks to a larger question.
While a lot of a lot of imagery on our
side is we're only portrayed a certain way. I think
it's hard for the powers that be to digest that
it's something that we want to see, and I think
now they're kind of seeing that. But I mean, I
think it's it goes back to, you know, why is
a lot of our history kind of suppressed? You know,
I think we falled in told with that whole narrative.

(02:48):
You know, it's just about having those groundbreakers who are
not scared to take chances and expose different sides of
African American culture, and you know this show is kind
of a groundbreaking in that sense.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Let's talk about your new scene goal Forever Bay.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
It's a very romantic song, something I think we need
in our community.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Can you share some insight on that and how it
came about?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Well, I mean, you know, I'm a romanticistem in my
own right. I mean that song was actually originally written
for my fiance a few years ago. We never kind
of came to fruition, so I kind of tucked the
song away with the relationship.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
So to speak.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
And you know, when I got this role, it kind
of lended. I'm always looking for songs that kind of
fit the roles of the characters I'm playing, and with
the dynamic of the role I play on Beyond the Gates,
with him being a strange from the love of his life,
the song fit like a glove. So I remastered it,
kind of updated it and submitted it for the show
and they loved it. The rest of History's been doing

(03:42):
really well at radio, and you know it's going to
air on the show Think on September.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
The sixteenth, Okay, and the.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Video is coming out, so you know, it's kind of
like it kind of worked itself out, so it really
was kind of art imitating life in every sense of
the word.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Wow, Keith E.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Robinson or doctor teded I should say, and they hit
black sop opera beyond the Gates. Thank you again for
