(00:24):
up for each other matters now more than ever. But first,
here's Bi in news. Now.

re election bid, reportedly exploring other jobs and even meeting
with a Trump advisor in Florida. Trump wants Adams and
another candidate out to boost Andrew Cuomo's chances against Democrats.
Oran Mam Donnie.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I've never asked for.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
A job with HUD.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I've never been any promiser job with HUD.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I have not communicated with the President.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Adams insists he's not going anywhere. Boxing legends Mike Tyson
and Florid Mayweather Junior have agreed to an exhibition fight
next spring. Details on the date, location and broadcast are
still to come. Mayweather promises the event will be quote
big and legendary end quote, with more info on rounds
and weight to be announced at a later date. And
Major General Joseph McNeil, one of the four black students

(01:10):
who let the landmark nineteen sixty Woolworth sit in, has
passed away at eighty three. His actions in Greensboro ignited
a national movement, helped form the Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee,
and laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Act. McNeil
went on to serve as an Air Force general and
investment banker. I'm Amber Payton with BI In News. Now
back to you, Doug, all.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Right, thank you. Chicago is bracing for a possible National
Guard deployment today. Illinois Governor Juliana Stratton gives us an
update courtesy of CNN.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
At this point, we have no communication that the plan
to federalize the National Guard and send them to Chicago
will continue. We've certainly heard the President continue to sort
of waiver back and forth about whether he's going to
do that.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
She said. Reports are already coming in that a sizeable
amount of ICE agents are arriving. And as Chicago Mayor Johnson,
who is black, recently said that it's time for citizens
to be on alert.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
I think we're going to just see more and more
efforts over the next days and weeks to come, and
we are asking people to prioritize their safety, to know
their rights, and make sure that they can monitor and
even record when they see these incidents taking place.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Chicago and state leaders said earlier this week that they
would love help from the federal government to help cut crime,
not federal troops. Meanwhile, Oakland, California, is home to over
two hundred flock safety cameras. You may be asking, well,
what's the flock safety camera? Well, that's the device that
proponents say help track crime. Critics say the system threatened
civil liberties. Catbrooks, a long time black Oakland activists and

(02:38):
executive director of the Oakland Police Anti Terror Project, tells
NBC Bay Area that the cameras in danger undocumented immigrants
and black communities and wants them out of Oakland.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
As a sanctuary city sworn to protect undocumented people. Do
we need more mass surveillance? Block is not the company
that we trust not to share data. This is not right.
They're going to sell it to the highest better or
they're going to share it because President Donald Trump or
Donald or the Orange Dude says he wants it.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
City council Member Noel Gaio denies that claim.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Very clear that our police department does not have cooperation
without way.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Gio ads if the cameras have assisted the city tremendously,
not only with speeding and robberies, but with ressalts as well.
Despite that, brug says flock is not built for safety,
It's built for surveillance, especially of federal agencies like ICE
gain access. Oakland's Poveracy Commission is expected to make a
recommendation on whether to keep the program, with city council
making a decision soon. And finally, the president of Lil

(03:35):
Wayne's record label, mcmaine, is proving that leadership is about
showing up for your community. The Young Money president recently
saved two black youth football programs in New Orleans and
Baton Rouge from financial collapse by stepping in with funding
and new uniforms. One of the football programs helped Maine's
own journey and says it's critical for black leaders to
keep kids engaged in structured, positive environments and this is

(03:56):
a reminder that Black America, hey, today, we can't afford
to always wait on government backed programs that may never
come the light, especially in the wake of policy rollbacks
under the Trump administration. So when our communities need us,
we have to act and swiftly. Stay informed, stay connected,
