Doug Prisner. President Trump and Fetchair J. Powell clashed today
over the Central Banks renovation project during a tour of
the construction site. The pair spoke to reporters during a
visit to examine restoration work of the fed's headquarters.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
So, well, taking a look, and it looks like it's
about three point one billion, one up a little bit
for a lot. So the two point seven is now
three point one. Yeah, it just came out.

I haven't heard that from anybody to fit now.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Trump also said he doesn't see cost overruns for the
fed's renovation project as a fireable offense, but at the
same time, Trump reiterated his desire for Powell to lower
interest rates.

I believe that the chairman is going to do the
right thing. I mean, maybe a little too late, as
the expression goes, but I believe he's going to do
the right thing.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Trump went on to say that he has two or
three people in mind to take over for Powell when
his term spires in May. The FCC has approved the
merger of Skydance Media and Paramount Global. Now. Completion of
this deal caps a year long saga that included settling
a lawsuit with President Trump and making concessions on diversity

initiatives and news judgment. Last July's Guidance agreed to take
control of Paramount, the parent of CBS and MTV and
its namesake Hollywood Film Studio. This after months of tumultuous
negotiations with Shari Redstone, whose family has run Paramount for decades.
The Department of Justice met today with Delane Maxwell, the

former associate of Jeffrey Epstein. Maxwell met with Todd blanche,
the President's former personal attorney in Florida, where Maxwell is
serving twenty years for sex trafficking girls and women for Epstein.
Here is Maxwell's defense attorney, David Marcus, speaking to ABC News.

We're not going to comment on the substance, but there
were a lot of questions and we went all day.

That was Gilane Maxwell's defense attorney, David Marcus, speaking to
ABC News Now. This meeting comes as the Trump administration
continues to face pressure from both sides of the aisle
to release files connected to Epstein. President Trump selected Alina
Habba to continue running the US Attorney's office in New
Jersey on a temporary basis. Hobba's post was set to

expire on Friday. Now, the announcement ends a day's long
standoff between officials in Washington and federal judges in New Jersey.
A White House spokesperson says that President Trump continues to
have full confidence in Habba to serve the people of
New Jersey. Ceasefire talks in Gaza suffered a major setback
on Thursday after both the US and Israel pulled negotiators

from talks and cutter. The Trump administration accused Thomas of
not acting in good faith following its response to a
proposed sixty day truce. Now, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Ecnia,
who warned that Hamas is misreading Israel's willingness to negotiate
as a weakness. Meantime, US officials say alternative strategies are

now under review. At the same time, French President Emmanuel
Macron said France will recognize a Palestinian state in a
post on ex Macron said he will make a formal
announcement at the UN General Assembly in September. The earning
season rolled on today and after the bell we heard
from Intel. The company gave a stronger than expected forecast

for revenue in the current period. Intel is benefiting from

The quarter offers investors a glimmer of hope as they
wait for a turnaround under the new CEO, Lip Bhutan. J.
