Speaker 1 (00:01):
News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now, I'm
Doug Prisner. The Supreme Court is refusing to allow President
Trump to deploy National Guard troops in Chicago. This ruling
deals a setback to Trump's drive to use the military
in liberal cities across the country. Now, a majority of
the Justice is left in force an earlier judge's ruling
that has blocked the deployment since October ninth. The High

(00:24):
Court so the government failed to identify a source of
authority that would allow the military to execute the laws.
In Illinois, a federal judge has ruled the Trump administration
can move ahead with a one hundred thousand dollars fee
on new H one B visa applications. Now, this is
a setback for US tech companies that rely heavily on

(00:45):
hiring skilled foreign workers. However, the decision gives a boost
to the Trump administration's campaign to restrict immigration and push
demand for US workers. Now, the Chamber of Commerce suit
to block this proposal, and it can appeal. Another batch
of files related to Jeffrey Epstein was released today by
the Department of Justice, and several mentioned President Trump. There

(01:08):
was a twenty twenty email from a prosecutor with new
details about Trump's trips on Epstein's private jet in the
nineteen nineties, which the president has said never took place. Now,
following the release, the Department of Justice posted on x
that some of the latest documents include untrue claims about
the president that were submitted to the FBI just before

(01:30):
the twenty twenty election. Here is Vermont Democratic Congresswoman Becca Bellant.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
What they mean by that is they don't like what's
in the file, so they're trying to distract from it.
I mean, let's just look at one instance alone, when
you look at the eight flights that so far we've
been able to document that the president was on. He
has tried to distance himself from Jeffrey Epstein for years now.

(01:58):
It was clear that they had a much closer relationship
than he will admit to. And what is so frustrating
to so many of us right now is that Americans
can handle the truth.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
That is Vermont Democratic Congresswoman beca Balance speaking on Bloomberg's
balance of power now. The files also show Epstein named
two executors of his will, former Barclay CEO Jess Staley
and ex Treasury secretary Larry Summers. Now, Summers has stepped
away from public commitments in light of revelation about his

(02:31):
ties to Epstein that would include his role as a
paid contributor to Bloomberg Television. President Trump saying today he
expects the next FED share to lower interest rates even
if the economy is doing well. In a post today
on Truth Social Trump also said he wants the new
chairman to lower interest rates if the market is doing well,
and Trump added anyone who disagrees with him will never

(02:54):
be FED chairman. Here is Bloomberg's Laura Davison.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Well, you can see in this truth post that Trump
is really really worried about interest rates. In particular. This
is you know, he's supposed to be meeting with Rick
Reader a potential FED show this week, and as he's
kind of started to figure out, is that he is
not able to compel markets to do exactly what he
wants them to do. We've seen this time and time
again with the Liberation Day tariffs throughout the year that
you know, he is trying to, you know, tell traders, hey,

(03:19):
look it's good news, go up, and you know, we
should keep interest rate steady. However, that's not both how
the FED is thinking, as well as how traders are
thinking and looking at the whole holistic economy, which has
a bunch of other warning signs out there.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Bloomberg's Laura Davison speaking on the Balance of Power program. Now,
Trump has narrowed his list for FED share nominees to
a few candidates. An announcement is expected over the next
couple of weeks. In company news, Novo Nordisk has received
FDA approval to market it's Wagov obesity drug in pill form.
Nova will begin selling the Wagov pill in early January.

(03:53):
Here is Mike Doothstar, President and CEO of Novo Nordisk.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
This is really going to be super exciting for the
millions of patients that have been waiting to get their
hands on a golp one pill. And for the first time,
we are having a pill that has an efficacy of
some seventeen percent if you take the pill regularly, and
one in three people are going to actually reduce up
to twenty percent weight loss.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
That is Mike Dustar. He is the CEO of Novo Nordisk,
speaking earlier on Bloomberg Surveillance. Now, this pill is crucial
for Novos strategy to take on its rival Eli Lilly.
Lily's oral obesity drug could be approved by March. We
go to Pennsylvania, where an explosion has occurred at a
nursing home north of Philadelphia, and the gas leak is

(04:42):
suspected as being the cause. Officials say part of the
building has collapsed, some residents were trapped inside, and at
least two people were killed, with several others injured. Here
is Pennsylvania Governor jos Shapiro.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
We believe preliminarily that it was a gas leak that
led to that the explosion was really quite catastrophic.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
That is Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. A private jet carrying
Libya's military chief of staff crashed in central Turkey. He
was killed along with four other passengers, believed to be
high ranking Libyan military officials. The aircraft was a Falcon
fifty jet. It disappeared from radar while flying from Ancora

(05:24):
to Tripoli on Tuesday evening. And that is news when
you want it with Bloomberg News. Now, I'm Doug prisoner,
and this is Bloomberg
