Speaker 1 (00:01):
News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now, I'm
Doug Chrisner. The Justice Department has received a million more
documents on Jeffrey Epstein, and now the DOJ says it
may need a few more weeks to release all of
its records. In a post today on x, the Department
of Justice said it has received the documents from the
Manhattan US Attorney's Office and the FBI. Now lately there
(00:23):
has been increased scrutiny of the staggered release of Epstein
related records, including from his victims and members of Congress.
Here is Bloomberg's Laura Davison.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Because this is still an incomplete picture. You know, folks
who are pouring through this haven't really been able to
put together a comprehensive view on exactly what Jeffrey Epstein's
empire and sphere look like, who was involved, who knew
what when, and so that these documents really haven't provided
the clarity and transparency around Jeffrey Epstein the people were
(00:55):
hoping to find, at least so far.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
That is Bloomberg's Laura Davison. Now, the Department of Justice
saying today its lawyers are working around the clock to
review the documents and remove victims' names and other sensitive information.
Federal auto safety regulators have opened a probe into the
emergency door releases in certain Tesla Model three vehicles. More
from Bloomberg's Erka Herskowitz.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evaluating claims that
the door releases, specifically on twenty twenty two Tesla Model
three sedans, are in its words, hidden, unlabeled, and not
intuitive to locate during an emergency. This adds to the
agency's investigation into weather doors are defective on certain model
ysuv's amid reports of children becoming trapped in vehicles when
(01:42):
the twelve volte battery dies. The Model three and Model
y are by far Tesla's top selling vehicles. Erica Herskowitz,
Bloomberg Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
In Honduras, a conservative candidate backed by Donald Trump is
the winner of the country's presidential election. After a long
and chaotic vote count. Naceres Uura has narrowly beaten Salvador
No Sorea, Asfura has pledged to cut ties with Beijing
and Venezuela and forge a close relationship with the US,
(02:11):
as well as Taiwan and Israel. A powerful winter storm
is lashing southern California, and coastal communities are bracing for
record rainfall over the next few days. Severe widespread flash
flooding is expected, and areas charred by wildfires are at
risk of monthslides. The US Weather Prediction Center says lives
(02:32):
and property are in great danger. Here is La County
Sheriff Robert Luna.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
The last thing we want to do is ruin anybody's
Christmas plans. But we have an obligation as a county
family to say to wave the flag and say there's
a threat, a real thread out there.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
La County Sheriff Robert Luna. There now, this storm will
pummel the region over the Christmas holiday until Friday. It's
already prompted some evacuations in La County, and it's likely
to bring road closures, airport delays, and flight cancelations. Meantime,
the US government is extending an emergency trucking waiver in
(03:09):
the Northeast as a winter storm approaches. The aim is
to make sure there's enough propane, natural gas, and heating oil.
This waiver will allow drivers transporting those fuels to work
without adhering to regulations on how long they can be
at the wheel without rest. Ukraine is ready to withdraw
heavy forces from the parts of the Donbas region it
(03:31):
still controls if Russia mirrors the pullback as part of
a piece deal. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky outlined details of
potential demilitarized zones, and he emphasized any troop pullback would
require direct talks with the US and any final agreement
would be put to a nationwide referendum. In Ukraine. Meantime,
(03:53):
we are told that Russia will seek key changes in
the latest USP's plan. We are told they include more
restrictions on Ukraine's military. North Korean leader Kim John Un
reportedly oversaw the testing of a new type of high
altitude long range missile. State media in North Korea is
reporting the launched missile accurately hit a mock target at
(04:15):
an altitude of one hundred and twenty four miles.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
Now.
Speaker 1 (04:18):

the South Korean port of Busan a day earlier. The

had the S and P five hundred rising three tenths

to forty eight thousy seven hundred thirty one. More from
Bloomberg's Charlie Pellet.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
It's all about the Santa Claus rally, which typically encompasses
the last five trading days of the year and the
first two of the new one. So far this year,
the S and P five hundred and deck has advanced
seventeen point nine percent, the Dow by comparison, up fourteen
point five percent, while Nestak has surged twenty two point
(05:09):
three percent. Earlier this year, you recall the equity market
was on the brink of a bear market. Since then,
stocks have surged, with every dip being bought at a
record pace, and the fear of missing out dominating sentiment
in New York. Charlie Pellett Bloomberg.
