Speaker 1 (00:01):
News when you want it with Bloomberg News Now, I'm
Dan Schwartzman. A federal appeals court has ruled that President
Trump can keep control of National Guard troops he deployed
to Los Angeles following protests of immigration raids. The decision
overturns a lower court ruling which found Trump acted illegally
when he activated the soldiers over opposition from California Governor
Gavin Newsom. The deployment was the first by president of

a state National guard without the governor's permission since nineteen
sixty five. For more of the hour's top stories, let's
get to Bloomberg's Doug Prisner.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
The White House says President Trump will make a decision
on whether to strike Iran within the next two weeks.
Here is Press Secretary Caroline Levitt.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I have a message directly from the President, and I
quote based on the fact that there's a substantial chance
of negotiations that may or may not take place with
Iran in the near future. I will make my decision
whether or not to go within the next two weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt. There now, the President
has publicly mused for days about having the US increase
the stakes by joining Israel strikes on Iran earlier today,
and Iranian missile struck an Israeli hospital, while Israel struck
more of Iran's nuclear sites and warned its attacks could
bring down Tehran's leadership. Meantime, British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer

(01:18):
called on President Trump to keep the door open to
resuming talks on Iran's nuclear program. Meantime, the US Embassy
and Cutter is warning US citizens in the country and
its own personnel to exercise increased vigilance. The FED is
getting new pushback for its decision to leave interest rates
unchanged on Wednesday. In a post earlier today on Truth

(01:39):
Social President Trump called on policymakers to lower the FED
fund's rate by two and a half percentage points and
re upping his use of the moniker too late Powell.
Trump said the FED share is costing the US hundreds
of billions of dollars. This post included some of Trump's
most pointed criticisms yet, calling Powell dumb and destructive. Now.

(02:00):
Trump has previously stated he would allow j. Powell to
finish out his term, which ends May of twenty twenty six.
Markets were already on edge after the FED downgraded its
estimate for economic growth this year while at the same
time projecting higher inflation, and the situation in the Mid
East is only adding to anxiety. Anna Rosenberg is head

(02:21):
of Geopolitics at the Amundi Investment Institute. She says the
odds of the US being involved are quite high.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Frankly, for the US this is an unique moment to
take out a big geopolitical headache, which is Iran potentially
developing a nuclear headache, and also this deepening relationship that
we saw between Iran, China, and North Korea and Russia
over the last few years. That is the biggest geopolitical
threat for the US.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
That is Anna Rosenberg from the Amundi Investment Institute. The
Bank of England held its key interest rate unchanged at
four and a quarter percent in a divided vote. Six
members of the Goees committee voted to leave rates unchanged,
three preferred and immediate quarter point cut. Deputy Governor from
Monetary Policy Claire Lombardelli says rising prices are still a concern.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
We decided to hold rates at four point two five
percent today. We have been able to cut rates four
times over the last year, but given the uncertainty facing
the economy, we decided.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
To hold That is Boe Deputy Governor Claire Lombardelli. We
go to Texas next to where a SpaceX Starship rocket
exploded on a test stand. Here is Bloomberg's Kate Duffy.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
Well is unclear exactly what caused this massive explosion. If
you look at the footage, it's just a big flash
of light and then all this ball of flames, essentially
lots of smoke coming out from the launch site. SpaceX
have just called it a major anomaly.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
That was Bloomberg's Kate Duffy. This is the latest in
a series of setbacks for the Starship program. Amazon is
ordering some corporate employees to move closer to their manager
and teams. This move is royaling a workforce already worried
about job cuts. Employees have been warned that AI will
shrink their ranks more from Bloomberg's Charlie Pellett.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
Sources tell Bloomberg workers are being told to relocate to
such cities as Seattle, Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, DC, which
in some cases would require them to move across the country.
The source of say Amazon is mostly rolling out the
mandate in one on one meetings and town halls rather
than sending out a mass email. They say, mid career

(04:33):
professionals with children in school and partners in established careers
are reluctant to make big moves in light of Amazon's
belt tightening efforts. In New York, Charlie Pellett's Bloomberg Radio.
